BACKGROUND:Unsustained return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC)is a critical barrier to survival in cardiac arrest *** study examined whether end-tidal carbon dioxide(ETCO_(2))and pulse oximetry photoplethysmogram(POP)parameters can be used to identify unsustained ***:We conducted a multicenter observational prospective cohort study of consecutive patients with cardiac arrest from 2013 to ***’general information,ETCO_(2),and POP parameters were collected and statistically ***:The included 105 ROSC episodes(from 80 cardiac arrest patients)comprised 51 sustained ROSC episodes and 54 unsustained ROSC *** 24-hour survival rate was significantly higher in the sustained ROSC group than in the unsustained ROSC group(29.2%vs.9.4%,P<0.05).The logistic regression analysis showed that the difference between after and before ROSC in ETCO_(2)(ΔETCO_(2))and the difference between after and before ROCS in area under the curve of POP(ΔAUCp)were independently associated with sustained ROSC(odds ratio[OR]=0.931,95%confi dence interval[95%CI]0.881-0.984,P=0.011 and OR=0.998,95%CI 0.997-0.999,P<0.001).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve ofΔETCO_(2),ΔAUCp,and the combination of both to predict unsustained ROSC were 0.752(95%CI 0.660-0.844),0.883(95%CI 0.818-0.948),and 0.902(95%CI 0.842-0.962),***:Patients with unsustained ROSC have a poor *** combination ofΔETCO_(2) andΔAUCp showed signifi cant predictive value for unsustained ROSC.

The Normalized Diff erence Vegetation Index(NDVI),one of the earliest remote sensing analytical products used to simplify the complexities of multi-spectral imagery,is now the most popular index used for vegetation *** popularity and widespread use relate to how an NDVI can be calculated with any multispectral sensor with a visible and a near-IR *** low costs and weights of multispectral sensors mean they can be mounted on satellite,aerial,and increasingly—Unmanned Aerial Systems(UAS).While studies have found that the NDVI is effective for expressing vegetation status andquantified vegetation attributes,its widespread use and popularity,especially in UAS applications,carry inherent risks of misuse with end users who received little to no remote sensing *** article summarizes the progress of NDVI acquisition,highlights the areas of NDVI application,and addresses the critical problems and considerations in using *** discussion mainly covers three aspects:atmospheric eff ect,saturation phenomenon,and sensor *** use of NDVI can be highly eff ective as long as its limitations and capabilities are *** consideration is particularly important to the UAS user community.

To detect anaerobic bacteria Clostridium sp . and Bacteroides fragilis in intrahepatic stones by molecular genetic method Methods DNA was extracted from 59 stone samples and subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification targeting the 16S rRNA gene of Clostridium sp . and the glutamine synthetase gene of Bacteroides fragilis Single-strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) analysis was performed to identify the Clostridium sp Results 16S rRNA gene sequences for Clostridium sp. were identified in 49 stones (83%, 49/59) The two most common groups were detected in 19 (41%) and 17 (37%) of the 46 samples using SSPC analysis, and 25/59 (42%) stones were tested positive for Bacteroides fragilis Conclusions Anaerobes such as Clostridium sp and Bacteroides fragilis present in intrahepatic stones and may play a role in stone formation PCR is a useful technique to detect fastidious pathogens, which are difficult to culture SSCP of PCR products is a rapid method in differentiating bacterial species

Dear Editors,Here, we report a novel HIV-1 intra-circulating recombinant form 01_AE （intra-CRF01_AE： CRF01-1AE/CRF01-6AE） composed of CRF01_AE transmission clusters 1 and 6, which was identified in a heterosexual male from Fujian, with one breakpoint observed in the vif gene. The CRF01_AE region I （HXB2： 868-5184） of the recombinant clustered with CRF01_AE transmission cluster 1, which is mainly circulating among injection drug users （IDUs） and heterosexuals in southern and southwestern China, with the support of a 100% bootstrap value. The CRF01_AE region II （HXB2： 5185-9605） of the recombinant clustered with CRF01_AE transmission cluster 6, which mainly prevails among heterosexuals in southern China, with the support of a 100% bootstrap value. To our knowledge, this is the first detection of a novel HIV-1 intra-CRF01_AE recombinant form （CRF01-1_AE/CRF01-6_ AE） in Fujian, China, which indicates ongoing active HIV-1 transmission among heter- osexuals in this region.

Recruitment of endogenous progenitor cells by erythropoietin loaded particles for in situ cartilage regeneration

Cartilage injury affects millions of people throughout the world,and at this time there is no *** transplantation of stem cells has shown some success in the treatment of injured cartilage,such treatment is limited by limited cell sources and safety *** overcome these drawbacks,a microscaffolds system was developed capable of targeting,reducing the inflammatory response and recruiting endogenous progenitor cells to ***(EPO)-loaded-hyaluronic acid(HA)microscaffolds(HA+EPO)were fabricated and ***-microscaffolds showed good cell-compatibility and could target chondrocytes via CD44 ***+EPO was designed to slowly release EPO while recruiting progenitor ***,the ability of HA+EPO to repair cartilage-defects was assessed using a rabbit model of full-thickness *** results showed that the intra-articular administration of EPO,HA,and EPO+HA reduced the number of inflammatory cells inside the synovial-fluid,while EPO+HA had the greatest anti-inflammatory ***,among all groups,EPO+HA achieved the greatest progenitor cell recruitment and subsequent *** results of this work support that,by targeting and localizing the release of growthfactors,HA+EPO can reduce inflammatory responses and promote progenitor cells *** new platform represents an alternative treatment to stem-cell transplantation for the treatment of cartilage injury.

Modulation of alloimmune responses is critical to improving transplant outcome and promoting long-term graft *** determine mechanisms by which a nonhematopoietic erythropoietin(EPO)derivative,carbamylated EPO(CEPO),regulates innate and adaptive immune cells and affects renal allograft survival,we utilized a rat model of fully MHC-mismatched kidney *** administration markedly extended the survival time of kidney allografts compared with the transplant alone control *** therapeutic effect was inhibited when the recipients were given LY294002,a selective inhibitor of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT)signaling pathway or anti-EPO receptor(EPOR)antibody,in addition to *** vitro,CEPO inhibited the differentiation and function of dendritic cells and modulated their production of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines,along with activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and increasing EPOR mRNA and protein expression by these innate immune ***,after CD4^(+)T cells were exposed to CEPO the Th1/Th2 ratio decreased and the regulatory T cell(Treg)/Th17 ratio *** effects were abolished by LY294002 or anti-EPOR antibody,suggesting that CEPO regulates immune responses and promotes kidney allograft survival by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in an EPOR-dependent *** immunomodulatory and specific signaling pathway effects of CEPO identified in this study suggest a potential therapeutic approach to promoting kidney transplant survival.
