In this work a comparative bioadsorption study between a biocomposite consisting of hydrolysed vineyard pruning waste entrapped in calcium alginate spheres and non entrapped vineyard residue was carried *** have demonstrated that the biocomposite based on lignocellulose-calcium alginate spheres removed 77.3% of dyes,while non entrapped lignocellulose eliminated only removed 27.8% of colour *** experimental data were fitted to several kinetic models（pseudo-first order,pseudo-second order,Chien-Clayton model,intraparticle diffusion model and Bangham model）; being pseudo-second order the kinetic model that better described the adsorption of dyes onto both *** addition,a morphological study（roughness and shape） of alginate-vineyard biocomposite was established under extreme conditions,observing significant differences between hydrated and dehydrated alginate-vineyard *** techniques used to carry out this morphological study consisted of scanning electron microscopy（SEm）,perfilometry and 3D surface analysis.

Fibrosis,or scar tissue development,is associated with numerous pathologies and is often considered a worst-case scenario in terms of wound healing or the implantation of a *** that remains is a disorganized,densely packed and poorly vascularized bundle of connective tissue,which was once functional *** creates a significant obstacle to the restoration of tissue function or integration with any ***,it is of paramount importance in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine to emphasize regeneration,the successful recovery of native tissue function,as opposed to repair,the replacement of the native tissue(often with scar tissue).A technique dubbed‘mitochondrial transplantation’is a burgeoning field of research that shows promise in in vitro,in vivo and various clinical applications in preventing cell death,reducing inflammation,restoring cell metabolism and proper oxidative balance,among other reported ***,there is currently a lack of research regarding the potential for mitochondrial therapies within tissue engineering and regenerative ***,this review explores these promising findings and outlines the potential for mitochondrial transplantation-based therapies as a new frontier of scientific research with respect to driving regeneration in wound healing and host-biomaterial interactions,the current successes of mitochondrial transplantation that warrant this potential and the critical questions and remaining obstacles that remain in the field.

Background:To compare the measurements obtained from the Orbscan II,IOLmaster 700,Pentacam AXL,and Castroviejo caliper and their effects on calculating the recommended implantable collamer lens(ICL)size and postoperative vault ***:This is a retrospective cross-sectional study of patients who underwent ICL surgery by a single surgeon from march 1,2018 to July 31,*** were reviewed for the anterior chamber depth(ACD)and white-to-white(WTW)measurements obtained from the Orbscan II,IOLmaster 700,Pentacam AXL,and Castroviejo caliper(WTW only).These were used to calculate the recommended ICL *** actual ICL size implanted,and vault measurements obtained one month postoperatively were also ***:One hundred seven eyes with a mean age of 27.9±7.7 years were included in the *** WTW measurements were significantly different between devices(Pmaster 700 having the highest value(12.14±0.04 mm)and the caliper having the lowest value(11.45±0.04 mm).mean ACD measurements were the lowest in Orbscan II(3.12±0.25 mm)and the highest in Pentacam AXL(3.16±0.24 mm).The Pentacam AXL produced an ICL size similar to the Orbscan in 69.2%of *** IOLmaster yielded an ICL measurement one size larger than Orbscan-based calculations in 64.5%of *** the Orbscan WTW and ACD,the desired vault of 0.25 to 0.75 mm and 0.25 to 1.00 mm was achieved in 70%and 91%of eyes,*** caliper WTW to IOLmaster 700 or Pentacam AXL WTW increases the percentage of achieving the desired vault to 80%,similar to the ***:The Orbscan II,IOLmaster 700,and Pentacam AXL cannot be used interchangeably for calculating ICL *** the WTW from caliper measurement with the ACD of the IOLmaster 700 or Pentacam AXL could improve ICL sizing and achieve a higher percentage of eyes with the desired vault.

Antisana is a stratovolcano with an associated glacier located in the Ecuadorian Andes. Dr Aguirre made meteorological readings every day, at every hour from sunrise to sunset, from December 1845 to December 1846, at Antisana using a meteorological station at 4060 mamsl （meters above mean sea level）. Unfortunately, only the monthly average data have been preserved. These meteorological data are here studied and compared with the closest modern stations for monthly values of temperature, rainfall, and pressure. According to these comparisons, the year 1846 was rainy and cold in comparison with the current climate. moreover, these observations have been useful to help resolve a debate about a possible E1Nifio event in 1846 with the high precipitation in Antisana and Quito in 1846 discarding the occurrence of an E1 Nifio event. The probable occurrence of a La Nifia event is discussed. These data are the earliest known systematic instrumental meteorological observations taken at above 4000 mamsl.

Nonlinear constrained optimization using the flexible tolerance method hybridized with different unconstrained methods

This paper proposes the use of the flexible tolerance method(FTm) modified with scaling of variables and hybridized with different unconstrained optimization methods to solve real constrained optimization *** benchmark problems used to analyze the performance of the methods were taken from G-Suite *** original method(FTm) and other four proposed methods:(i) FTm with scaling of variables(FTmS),(ii) FTmS hybridized with BFGS(FTmS-BFGS),(iii) FTmS hybridized with modified Powell's method(FTmS-Powell)and(iv) FTmS hybridized with PSO(FTmS-PSO), were implemented. The success rates of the methods were 80%,100%, 75%, 95% and 85%, for FTm, FTmS, FTmS-BFGS, FTmS-Powell and FTmS-PSO, respectively. Numerical experiments including real constrained problems indicated that FTmS gave the best performance, followed by FTmSPowell and FTmS-PSO. Despite the inferior performance compared to FTmS and FTmS-Powell, the FTmS-PSO method presented some advantages since good different initial points could be obtained, which allow exploring different routes through the solution space and to escape from local optima. The proposed methods proved to be an effective way of improving the performance of the original FTm.

Weather and climate conditions drive the evolution of tropical glaciers which play an important role as water reservoirs for Peruvian inhabitants in the arid coast and semi-arid Andean *** scarcity of long-term high-quality observations over Peruvian glaciers has motivated the extensive use of reanalysis data to describe the climatic evolution of these ***,the representativeness and uncertainties of these reanalysis products over these glaciers are still poorly *** study evaluates the ability of the ERA-Land reanalysis(ERAL)to reproduce hourly and monthly 2 m air temperature and relative humidity(T2m and Rh2m,respectively)over several Peruvian *** compared the ERAL with data from four on-glacier automatic weather stations(AWS),whose hourly time series were completed with nearby stations,for the period January 2017 to December *** indicates a better performance of the reanalysis for T2m(r>0.80)than for Rh2m(~0.4meters show a daily cycle influenced by the presence of the *** influence is more prominent during the dry months when the so-called glacier damping and cooling effects are *** a monthly time scale,the ERAL validation for both parameters are better in wet outer tropical sites(RmSE between±0.2℃ for T2m and between 3%-7% for Rh2m)rather than in dry outer tropical sites(RmSE between±0.2℃ for T2m and between 3%-7% for Rh2m).Among all sites considered in the study,the Rh2m bias is the highest in the Cavalca glacier(correlation of 0.81;RmSE 13%,mAE 11% and bias 8.3%)and the lowest in Artesonraju glacier(correlation of 0.96;RmSE 3%;mAE 2.3% and bias-0.8%).Based on certain considerations outlined in this paper,it is appropriate to use ERAL to characterize T2m and Rh2m conditions on Peruvian glaciers,particularly in the wet outer tropics.
