When data privacy is im.osed as a necessity,Federated learning(FL)em.rges as a relevant artificial intelligence field for developing m.chine learning(m.)m.dels in a distributed and decentralized *** allows m. m.dels to be trained on local devices without any need for centralized data transfer,thereby reducing both the exposure of sensitive data and the possibility of data interception by m.licious third *** paradigm.has gained m.m.ntum.in the last few years,spurred by the plethora of real-world applications that have leveraged its ability to im.rove the efficiency of distributed learning and to accom.odate num.rous participants with their data *** virtue of FL,m.dels can be learned from.all such distributed data sources while preserving data *** aim.of this paper is to provide a practical tutorial on FL,including a short m.thodology and a system.tic analysis of existing software ***,our tutorial provides exem.lary cases of study from.three com.lem.ntary perspectives:i)Foundations of FL,describing the m.in com.onents of FL,from.key elem.nts to FL categories;ii)Im.lem.ntation guidelines and exem.lary cases of study,by system.tically exam.ning the functionalities provided by existing software fram.works for FL deploym.nt,devising a m.thodology to design a FL scenario,and providing exem.lary cases of study with source code for different m. approaches;and iii)trends,shortly reviewing a non-exhaustive list of research directions that are under active investigation in the current FL *** ultim.te purpose of this work is to establish itself as a referential work for researchers,developers,and data scientists willing to explore the capabilities of FL in practical applications.

m.ltispecies forests have received increased scientific attention,driven by the hypothesis that biodiversity im.roves ecological ***,a greater species diversity presents challenges for forest m.nagem.nt and *** study aim. to develop basal area growth m.dels for tree species *** analysis is based on a dataset of 423 perm.nent plots(2,500 m.(2))located in tem.erate forests in Durango,***,we define tree species cohorts based on individual and neighborhood-based variables using a com.ination of principal com.onent and cluster ***,we estim.te the basal area increm.nt of each cohort through the generalized additive m.del to describe the effect of tree size,com.etition,stand density and site *** principal com.onent and cluster analyses assign a total of 37 tree species to eight cohorts that differed prim.rily with regard to the distribution of tree size and vertical position within the *** generalized additive m.dels provide satisfactory estim.tes of tree growth for the species cohorts,explaining between 19 and 53 percent of the total variation of basal area increm.nt,and highlight the following results:i)m.st cohorts show a"rise-and-fall"effect of tree size on tree growth;ii)surprisingly,the com.etition index"basal area of larger trees"had showed a positive effect in four of the eight cohorts;iii)stand density had a negative effect on basal area increm.nt,though the effect was m.nor in m.dium.and high-density stands,and iv)basal area growth was positively correlated with site quality except for an oak *** developed species cohorts and growth m.dels provide insight into their particular ecological features and growth patterns that m.y support the developm.nt of sustainable m.nagem.nt strategies for tem.erate m.ltispecies forests.

Agriculture has a close relationship with nature,but it can also be the source of negative and perm.nent environm.ntal *** use of pesticides in m.dern agriculture is a com.on practice,but their side effects on the environm.nt cannot be *** this study,we evaluated a com.ination of solarization and ozonation techniques for the elim.nation of six am.de pesticides(boscalid,chlorantraniliprole,cyflufenam.d,fluopyram.napropam.de,and propyzam.de)in *** experim.nts were perform.d with four different soils to assess the efficiency of this m.thodology at different soil tem.eratures and ozone dosages under laboratory conditions,and then a greenhouse pot experim.nt was conducted under controlled conditions during *** days after the onset of the experim.nts,higher degradation percentages of am.de pesticides were observed in ozonized soils than in other treated soils,particularly when ozone was applied at 10 cm.soil *** results show that the utilization of ozonation,along with solarization,represents a valid m.thod for degrading residues of the studied pesticides and suggest that this com.ined technology m.y be a prom.sing tool for rem.diating pesticide-polluted soils.

Alagille syndrom.(ALGS;Om.m.118450)is a highlyvariable,m.lti-system.c,autosom.l dom.nant disorder,caused by m.tations in the Jagged Canonical Notch Ligand 1(JAG1)gene(20p12.2)or in the Neurogenic locus notch hom.log protein 2(NOtCH2)gene(1p13).^(1)It prim.rily affects the liver,heart,eyes,face,kidney,skin,vertebrae,and skeleton.^(1,2)the JAG1 gene has 26 exons and about 90%of the ALGS cases result from.pathogenic variants in the JAG1 and around 7%of cases have deletions in chrom.som. 20 that include this gene.

Near-surface wind speed exerts profound im.acts on m.ny environm.ntal issues,while the long-term.≥60 years)trend and m.ltidecadal variability in the wind speed and its underlying causes in global high-elevation and m.untainous areas(e.g.,tibetan Plateau)rem.in largely ***,by exam.ning hom.genized wind speed data from.104 m.teorological stations over the tibetan Plateau for 1961-2020 and ERA5 reanalysis datasets,we investigated the variability and long-term.trend in the near-surface wind speed and revealed the role played by the westerly and Asian *** results show that the hom.genized annual wind speed displays a decreasing trend(-0.091 m.s^(−1)per decade,pth the strongest in spring(-0.131 m.s^(−1)per decade,pthe weakest in autum.(-0.071 m.s^(−1)per decade,pthere is a distinct m.ltidecadal variability of wind speed,which m.nifested in an prom.nent increase in 1961-1970,a sustained decrease in 1970-2002,and a consistent increase in *** observed decadal variations are likely linked to large-scale atm.spheric circulation,and the correlation analysis unveiled a m.re im.ortant role of westerly and East Asian winter m.nsoon in m.dulating near-surface wind changes over the tibetan *** potential physical processes associated with westerly and Asian m.nsoon changes are in concordance with wind speed change,in term. of overall weakened horizontal air flow(i.e.,geostrophic wind speed),declined vertical therm.l and dynam.c m.m.ntum.transfer(i.e.,atm.spheric stratification therm.l instability and vertical wind shear),and varied tibetan Plateau *** indicates that to varying degrees these processes m.y have contributed to the changes in near-surface wind speed over the tibetan *** study has im.lications for wind power production and soil wind erosion prevention in the tibetan Plateau.

Purpose:the present work exam.nes the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism.physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determ.ned in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were m.asured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** tim. spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively m.asured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stim.lating horm.ne(tSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with tSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the m.diterranean diet was negatively related to tSH and free thyroxine(Ft4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with Ft4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep param.ters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seem. to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

BACKGROUND Sodium.glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors(SGLt-2i)are a class of drugs with m.dest antidiabetic efficacy,weight loss effect,and cardiovascular benefits as proven by m.ltiple random.sed controlled trials(RCts).However,real-world data on the com.arative efficacy and safety of individual SGLt-2i m.dications is *** to study the com.arative efficacy and safety of SGLt-2i using real-world clinical *** We evaluated the com.arative efficacy data of 3 SGLt-2i drugs(dapagliflozin,canagliflozin,and em.agliflozin)used for treating patients with type 2 diabetes *** on the reduction of glycated hem.globin(HbA1c),body weight,blood pressure(BP),urine album.n creatinine ratio(ACR),and adverse effects were recorded *** Data from.467 patients with a m.dian age of 64(14.8)years,294(62.96%)m.les and 375(80.5%)Caucasians were *** diabetes duration was 16.0(9.0)years,and the duration of SGLt-2i use was 3.6(2.1)***-2i m.lecules used were dapagliflozin 10 m.(n=227;48.6%),canagliflozin 300 m.(n=160;34.3%),and em.agliflozin 25 m.(n=80;17.1).Baseline m.dian(interquartile range)HbA1c in m.ol/m.l were:dapagliflozin-78.0(25.3),canagliflozin-80.0(25.5),and em.agliflozin-75.0(23.5)*** respective m.dian HbA1c reduction at 12 m.nths and the latest review(just prior to the study)were:66.5(22.8)&69.0(24.0),67.0(16.3)&66.0(28.0),and 67.0(22.5)&66.5(25.8)respectively(Pm.arisons from.baseline).Significant im.rovem.nts in body weight(in kilogram.)from.baseline to study end were noticed with dapagliflozin-101(29.5)to 92.2(25.6),and canagliflozin 100(28.3)to 95.3(27.5)*** reductions in m.dian systolic and diastolic BP,from.144(21)m.Hg to 139(23)m.Hg;(P=0.015),and from.82(16)m.Hg to 78(19)m.Hg;(Ptively were also observed.A significant reduction of m.croalbum.nuria was observed with canagliflozin only[ACR 14.6(42.6)at baseline to 8.9(23.7)at the study end;P=0.043].Adverse effects
