Perovskite laCoO_(3) is being increasingly explored as an effective low-cost electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Sr doping in laCoO_(3)(la1-xSrxCoO_(3))has been found to substantially increase its catalytic *** this work,we report a detailed study on the evolution of the electronic structure of la1-xSrxCoO_(3) with 0≤x≤1 and its correlation with electrocatalytic activity for the OER.A combination of X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS)and X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS)was used to unravel the electronic density of states(DOS)near the Fermi level(EF),which provide insights into the key electronic structure features for the enhanced OER catalytic *** analysis on the Co l-edge XAS suggest that laCoO_(3) has a low spin state with t_(2g)^(6) e_(g)^(0) configuration at room *** implies that the high OER catalytic activity of laCoO_(3) should not be rationalized by the occupancy of eg=1 *** Sr^(2+) for la^(3+) in laCoO_(3) induces Co4+oxidation states and effectively dopes hole states into the top of valence band.A semiconductor-to-metal transition is observed for x>0.2,due to the holeinduced electronic DOS at the EF and increased hybridization between Co 3 d and O 2 *** an electronic modulation enhances the surface adsorption of the*OH intermediate and reduces the energy barrier for interfacial charge transfer,thus improving the OER catalytic activity in la_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3).In addition,we found that the la_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3) surface undergoes amorphization after certain period of OER measurement,leading to a partial deactivation of the *** Sr doping levels accelerated the amorphization process.

微塑料(MPs)会吸附水中有机污染物,进而可能产生复合毒性效应,但目前关于MPs与有机污染物相互作用及对污水生物处理系统的影响尚不明确。为此,以活性污泥为研究对象,考察了模拟污水中磺胺嘧啶(SDZ)和聚氯乙烯(PVC)共存时对活性污泥系统处理效果及胞外聚合物(EPS)的影响,并分析了污泥脱氢酶和微生物群落结构的变化。结果表明,当PVC和SDZ浓度均为15 mg/l时,疏水性较强的SDZ易吸附在PVC表面而形成复合污染物,导致系统对COD和氨氮的去除率分别降低55.4%和54.9%。同时,污泥通过提高EPS分泌物中蛋白质和多糖含量来产生保护机制。另外,PVC和SDZ共存导致污泥中微生物多样性显著降低,拟杆菌纲、γ-变形菌纲、黄杆菌属和吡啶降解菌的相对丰度较对照组分别下降9.53%、4.39%、7.25%和6.21%。由于有机物降解功能菌数量减少及产生裂解酶的能力减弱,使得活性污泥系统对COD和氨氮的去除率下降。

Roles of MEM1 in safeguarding Arabidopsis genome against DNA damage, inhibiting ATM/SOG1-mediated DNA damage response,and antagonizing global DNA hypermethylation

Arabidopsis methylation elevated mutant 1(mem1)mutants have elevated levels of global DNA methylation. In this study, such mutant alleles showed increased sensitivity to methyl methanesulfonate(MMS). In mem1 mutants, an assortment of genes engaged in DNA damage response(DDR), especially DNA-repair-associated genes, were largely upregulated without MMS treatment, suggestive of activation of the DDR pathway in them. Following MMS treatment, expression levels of multiple DNArepair-associated genes in mem1 mutants were generally lower than in Col-0 plants, whichaccounted for the MMS-sensitive phenotype of the mem1 mutants. A group of DNA methylation pathway genes were upregulated in mem1 mutants under non-MMS-treated conditions, causing elevated global DNA methylation, especially in RNAdirected DNA methylation(Rd DM)-targeted ***, MEM1 seemed to help ATAXIATElaNGIECTASIA MUTATED(ATM) and/or SUPPRESSOR OF GAMMA RESPONSE 1(SOG1) to fully activate/suppress transcription of a subset of genes regulated simultaneously by MEM1 and ATM and/or SOG1, because expression of such genes decreased/increased consistently in mem1 and atm and/or sog1 mutants, but the decreases/increases in the mem1 mutants were not as dramatic as in the atm and/or sog1 mutants. Thus, our studies reveals roles of MEM1 in safeguarding genome, and interrelationships among DNA damage, activation of DDR, DNA methylation/demethylation, and DNA repair.

Introduction: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most widespread sexually transmitted infection in the world. Today, there is growing evidence that HPV can be transmitted early in life, and one potential route is mother-to-child transmission. Data on this route of HPV transmission are scarce in Africa and particularly in Burkina Faso, where no data on the subject are yet available. The aim of our study was to estimate the rate of mother-to-child transmission of HPV infection and to identify circulating genotypes. Methodology: Cervico-uterine samples were collected from 100 full-term pregnant women and, buccal samples were obtained from their newborns at Hopital Saint Camille de Ouagadougou (HOSCO) by the specialist physician. HPV DNA amplification and genotyping were performed by PCR followed by hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow Chips kit, detecting 36 genotypes including 18 high-risk and 18 low-risk. Results: The prevalence of HPV in newborns was 8% (8/100). Six (6) HPV-positive neonates had HPV-positive mothers, while 2 HPV-positive neonates had HPV-negative mothers. The vertical transmission rate was 26.09% (6/23). Mother-newborn genotypes were concordant. However, the genotype profile of the newborns was more restricted than that of the mothers. Conclusion: HPV DNA was found in 8% of newborns in our study. The genotype profile of the mother-newborn pair was concordant. Asymptomatic HPV infection in a pregnant woman could constitute a risk factor for vertical transmission.

Experimental study of friction dissipators for seismic protection of building structures

This paper presents the results from unidirectional shaking table tests of two reduced scale steel models of a building frame, with one and two floors, respectively. These frames incorporate friction dissipators at every floor. The inputs are sine-dwells and artificial and registered earthquakes. This study is part of a larger research project aiming to assess the seismic efficiency of friction dissipators by means of an integrated numerical and experimental approach. Inside this framework, the main objectives of these experiments are to：（i） collect a wide range of results to calibrate a numerical model derived within the project, （ii） clarify some of the most controversial issues about friction dissipators （including behavior for inputs containing pulses, capacity to reduce resonance peaks, introduction of high frequencies in the response, and self- generated eccentricities）, （iii） better understand their dynamic behavior, （iv） provide insight on the feasibility and reliability of using simple friction dissipators for seismic protection of building structures and （v） characterize the hysteretic behavior of these devices. Most of these objectives are satisfactorily reached and relevant conclusions are stated.

BACKGROUND The high prevalence and persistence of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) infection, as well as the diversity of pathologies related to it, suggest that the virulence factors used by this microorganism are varied. Moreover, as its proteome contains 340hypothetical proteins, it is important to investigate them to completely understand the mechanisms of its virulence and survival. We have previously reported that the hypothetical protein HP0953 is overexpressed during the first hours of adhesion to inert surfaces, under stress conditions, suggesting its role in the environmental survival of this bacterium and perhaps as a virulence *** To investigate the expression and localization of HP0953 during adhesion to an inert surface and against gastric(AGS) *** Expression analysis was performed for HP0953 during H. pylori adhesion. HP0953 expression at 0,3, 12, 24, and 48 h was evaluated and compared using the Kruskal-Wallis equality-of-populations rank test. Recombinant protein was produced and used to obtain polyclonal antibodies for immunolocalization. Immunogold technique was performed on bacterial sections during adherence to inert surfaces and AGS cells, which was analyzed by transmission electron microscopy. HP0953 protein sequence was analyzed to predict the presence of a signal peptide and transmembrane helices, both provided by the ExPASy platform, and using the GlYCOPP platform for glycosylation sites. Different programs, via, I-TASSER, RaptorX, and HHalign-Kbest, were used to perform three-dimensional *** HP0953 exhibited its maximum expression at 12 h of infection in gastric epithelium *** technique revealed HP0953 localization in the cytoplasm and accumulation in some peripheral areas of the bacterial body, with greater expression when it is close to AGS *** analysis revealed the presence of a signal peptide that interacts with the transmembrane region and then allows the release of the protein
