The sex-biased dispersal and kinship dynamics are important factors shaping the spatial distribution of individuals and are key parameters affecting a variety of ecological and evolutionary ***,we studied the spatial distribution of related individuals within a population of corn mice Calomys musculinus in a seasonal cycle to infer dispersal *** sampling was carried out from spring 2005 to winter 2006 in field borders of intensively managed *** data from 346 individuals with 9 microsatellites showed spatial genetic structure was weak for males,but not for *** results indicate a complex spatial kinship dynamic of related females across all ***,contrary to our expectations,dispersal distances decrease with the increase of the population ***,male dispersal distances were greater when population abundance increased and thus the availability of active *** disperse greater distances to mate and sire offspring with distant females as a possible inbreeding avoidance *** study shows that *** is capable of much greater scattering distances than previously reported and that dispersal occurs fluidly and without barriers across the *** indirect benefit of dispersal on individual fitness could be related to relaxing the competition in the natal area and increasing the mating *** study highlights the value of combining genetic relatedness,fieldwork observations,and behavioral data to estimate dispersal at a fine geographical scale.

The lodging and restaurant services sector in the city of Pereira presents complex situations generated by the turbulence of the new business *** that survive the new challenges and those recently established require strategies that allow them to extend their life ***,the study aims to identify how to apply resilience and management disciplines in a tool that allows companies in the sector under study to sufficiently face situations of high *** this objective requires knowing the causes of the short life span of many companies,identifying how surviving companies articulate management disciplines with their strategic objectives,and analyzing the possibility of formulating an organizational model based on resilience as a *** methodology applied was *** sample was simply random;23 companies were analyzed through structured interviews and participant *** the most significant results:the deficient application of management disciplines was identified as an important cause of company closures;the level of acceptance to implement the practice of resilience and management disciplines in companies;and the way to apply resilience and management disciplines in an instrument that builds *** was concluded that an organizational model should be formulated where resilience and management disciplines are applied to face times of crisis.

The relationship between morphology and flight in Drosophila:a study of two pairs of sibling species from a natural population

Insect flight is a complex trait involved in different behaviors,from the search for sexual partners,food,or breeding *** studies have postulated the adaptive advantages of certain morphological traits in relation to increased flight capacity,such as low values of wing loading or high values of wing:thorax ratio and wing-aspect ***,few studies have evaluated the relationship between variables related to flight and morphological traits in *** work aimed to study morphological traits in males and females of two pairs of sibling species:Drosophila buzzati Patterson and Wheeler-Drosophila koeferae Fontdevila and Wasserman,and Drosophila melanogaster Meigen-Drosophila simulans Sturtevant,and to analyze its relationship with *** detected the highest proportion of flight time in *** and *** compared to *** and ***,*** results also revealed sexual dimorphism,with males exhibiting a higher proportion of flight time than ***,we did not find a general pattern to explain the relationship between morphology and the proportion of flight time because associations varied depending upon the analyses(considering all groups together or each sex-species combination separately).Moreover,these associations explained a low percentage of variation,suggesting that other nonmorphological components related to flight,such as physiological variables,should be taken into *** work allowed us to show the variability and complexity of an aspect of flight,suggesting that the adaptive role of the morphological traits studied might have been overestimated.

Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Effects of Capybara Oil on Cardiac remodeling of C57bl/6 Mice

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in the world, and obesity and the metabolic syndrome are risk factors for its development. One of the therapies to reduce cardiovascular risk is the use of polyunsaturated fatty acids. In Brazil, a source of such acid is the oil extracted from the fat of the capybara. The objective of this work is to study the effects of the capybara oil on lipid and glucose metabolism, as well as its effects on the adipose tissue and cardiac remodeling. We assessed the effects of capybara oil treatment on body mass, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, systolic blood pressure, adipose tissue and cardiac remodeling, and performed an ultrastructural evaluation of the myocardium in C57Bl/6 mice treated with high-fat diet. Treatment with capybara oil reduced total cholesterol and triglyceride levels, systolic blood pressure, visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue, and adipocyte diameter. In addition, cardiac remodeling was attenuated, preserving cardiomyocytes, increasing vascularization, reducing cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and the extracellular matrix, and preserving the morphological integrity of mitochondria. Capybara oil has several beneficial effects on the cardiovascular and metabolic system, and further studies are needed to better understand its role in the prevention or treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

The use of entomopathogenic fungi (EF) in recent years has been highly effective against the different orders of insects considered pests of agricultural importance and their conidia have been commonly applied, but it has been reported that these are sensitive to the environmental conditions. For this reason, biopesticides products have been formulated based on secondary metabolites, recently. These biomolecules participate as biological control agent, such as: cyclic depsipeptides, amino acids, polyketides, polyphenols and terpenoids, affecting their morphology, life cycle and insect behavior. The use of secondary metabolites of entomopathogenic fungi opens the possibility of application in a more efficient way for the control of agricultural pests in a compatible with the environment and human health;therefore, it is important to know, analyzing the type of molecules, their effects, and their different methods of application.

Pharmacokinetics and Bioequivalence Evaluation of Two rosuvastatin Calcium 20 mg Tablets: A Single Oral Dose, randomized-Sequence, Open-Label, Two-Period Crossover Study in Healthy volunteers under Fasting Conditions

Objectives: To compare the rate and extent of absorption of racor® 20 mg (rosuvastatin calcium 20 mg) tablet of Laboratorios Leti, S.A.v., with Crestor® 20 mg (rosuvastatin calcium 20 mg) tablet of AstraZeneca, UK Limited in healthy adult human subjects under fasting conditions. Method: This was an open label, analyst blind, balanced, randomized, two-treatment, two-period, two-sequence, single oral dose, crossover, bioequivalence study in healthy, adult, human subjects under fasting condition. Twenty-four (24) subjects were planned as per the protocol and all subjects completed both periods of the study. The concentrations of rosuvastatin in plasma were quantitated using a validated LC-MS/MS method of analysis and plasma levels were submitted for statistical analysis. Cmax, AUC0-t, AUC0-∞, Tmax, t1/2, Kel (hrs-1), percent AUC extrapolated [100 * (AUC0-∞ - AUC0-t)/AUC0-∞] (AUC_%Extrapobs) were calculated for rosuvastatin in plasma using SAS® version 9.1.3, SAS Institute. Inc. ***. ANOvA, 90% confidence interval using Schuirmann’s two one-sided test for bioequivalence, power and ratio analysis, for lntransformed pharmacokinetic parameters Cmax, AUC0-t and AUC0-∞ were computed and reported for rosuvastatin in plasma for BE. results: Data showed that 90% confidence intervals for the test/reference geometric mean ratios (GMr) of Cmax (95.01 - 112.66), AUC0-t (93.38 - 111.67) and AUC0-∞ (93.65 - 111.29) were within the BE (80% - 125%) acceptance range. Conclusions: Two products formulation, reference (r) Crestor® (rosuvastatin calcium) of AstraZeneca and test (T), racor® (rosuvastatin calcium) of Laboratorios Leti S.A.v., with a single dose of 20 mg, under fasting conditions were bioequivalent. No severe, serious or unexpected adverse events (AEs) were reported in this study.

Detection of Progesterone receptor as a Method of Diagnosing Mammary Cancer in Female Dogs

Introduction: Canine mammary gland tumor is the most common type of neoplasia in non-ovariectomized bitches. Approximately 50% of tumors are malignant. Neoplasms originating from the mammary gland represent the most common neoplastic disease in canines in veterinary Medicine. Aim: relate the expression of the receptor to progesterone (Pr) with the tumor stage of canine mammary carcinoma. Material and Methods: Analytical-cross-sectional study, samples of paraffinized tumor tissue obtained from 30 canine patients with breast cancer were used. The expression of Pr was performed by immunohistochemical labeling, using murine anti-Pr (anti-Pr Biocare brand). A descriptive analysis was carried out with the results using the SPSS program. results: The predominant histological subtype of breast cancer was tubular carcinoma with 12 patients, followed by papillary cystic carcinoma with 6 patients, solid carcinoma 5, carcinosarcoma 4 and comedocarcinoma 3. There was a significant trend between breast cancer subtypes, histological grade G1. Among the histopathological findings, the degree of invasion is related to the presence of tumor cells in adjacent lymph nodes, which is why it is a prognostic indicator. The expression of Pr in the tumor tissue samples it was 42.8% positive versus 57.14% negative, of which 75% correspond to G1, 8.3% to G2 and 16.6% to G3. With respect to the relationship of the expression of Pr vs type of tumor, it was found that 50% correspond to tubular carcinoma, 33.3% to papillary cystic carcinoma, 8.3% to solid carcinoma and 8.3% to comedocarcinoma. Conclusion: The hormone receptor was negative in more than half of the patients and histological grade is significantly associated with tumor subtypes, this study emphasizes the need to introduce receptor testing into our routine clinical practice to offer the best treatment for breast cancer.
