Clinicopathological alterations in wild mammals from the reservoir system of Trypanosoma cruzi:a scoping review

Trypanosoma cruzi is the etiologic agent of Chagas disease.This flagellated protozoan is transmitted to humans as well as different species of domestic and wild animals via vectors from the Reduviidae family(known as"kissing bugs").despite the fact that hundreds of species of wild mammals are part of the reservoir system,the morphologi-cal changes and clinical manifestations resulting from the pathogenesis of the infection have been largely neglected.The aim of this review is to systematically compile the available information regarding clinicopathological altera-tions in wild mammals due to natural infection by T.cruzi.Information was obtained from six online bibliographic data search platforms,resulting in the identification of 29 publications that met the inclusion criteria.Mortality was the most common clinical manifestation,cardiac damage was the main finding at necropsy,and lymphoplas-macytic inflammation was the most frequent microscopic injury.Thus,regardless of its role as a reservoir,T.cruzi has the potential to affect the health status of wild mammals,a situation that highlights the need for further research to analyze,measure,and compare its effects at both the individual and population levels.

The objective of the present work is modeling the mobility habitus in the public transport system with low Co2 emission mechanics in the center of Mexico.In this sense,a documentary work was carried out with a review of sources indexed to national repositories,using the delphi technique for the content analysis and the specification of the model.A study was conducted with a selection of 100 students to establish the reliability,linearity,sphericity,adequacy,and validity of an instrument from which a relationship of dependence between income and mobility habitus was observed.The limits of the search,selection,and processing of information are recognized,and it is recommended to extend the research to international repositories,as well as to employ a more sophisticated technique.

The objective of this study was to determine the degree of citizen participation in urban planning processes in the municipality of Comala,Colima,Mexico to have a broader vision of the citizens and the environment in which they live.An instrument was designed specifically to perform this study and the instrument was validated by calculating Cronbach’s Alpha.The results showed that citizens were highly involved in issues concerning their urban environment,and the main problems of the public spaces were also identified.

BACKGROUND The influence of Helicobacter-pylori(H.pylori)infection and the characteristics of gastric cancer(GC)on tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte(TIL)levels has not been extensively studied.Analysis of infiltrating-immune-cell subtypes as well as survival is necessary to obtain comprehensive information.AIM To determine the rates of deficient mismatch-repair(dMMR),HER2-status and H.pylori infection and their association with TIL levels in GC.METHODS Samples from 503 resected GC tumors were included and TIL levels were evaluated following the international-TILs-working-group recommendations with assessment of the intratumoral(IT),stromal(ST)and invasive-border(IB)compartments.The density of CD3,CD8 and CD163 immune cells,and dMMR and HER2-status were determined by immunohistochemistry(IHC).H.pylori infection was evaluated by routine histology and quantitative PCR(qPCR)in a subset of samples.RESULTS dMMR was found in 34.4%,HER2+in 5%and H.pylori-positive in 55.7%of samples.High IT-TIL was associated with grade-3(P=0.038),while ST-TIL with grade-1(Pdensities.HER2-was associated with high IT-CD8(P=0.009).H.pylorinegative was associated with high IT-TIL levels(P=0.009)when assessed by routine-histology,and with high TIL levels in the 3 compartments(P=0.002-0.047)and CD8 density in the IT and ST compartments(P=0.001)when assessed by qPCR.A longer overall survival was associated with low IT-CD163(P=0.003)and CD8/CD3(P=0.001 in IT and P=0.002 in ST)and high IT-CD3(P=0.021),ST-CD3(P=0.003)and CD3/CD163(P=0.002).CONCLUSION TIL levels were related to dMMR and H.pylori-negativity.Low CD8/CD3 and high CD163/CD3 were associated with lower recurrence and longer survival.

Healthcare use among people with diabetes mellitus in Europe:a population-based cross-sectional study

Objective This study aimed to determine the association of health determinants,lifestyle and socioeconomic variables on healthcare use in people with diabetes in Europe.design A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the European Health Interview Survey wave 2(ie,secondary analysis).Setting The sample included data from 25 European countries.Participants The sample included 16270 patients with diabetes aged 15 years or older(49.1%men and 50.9%women).Results The survey data showed that 58.2%of respondents had seen their primary care physician in the past month and 22.6%had been admitted to the hospital in the past year.Use of primary care was associated with being retired(prevalence ratio(PR)1.13,95%CI 1.07 to 1.19)and having very poor self-perceived health(PR 1.80,95%CI 1.51 to 2.15),long-standing health problems(PR 1.14,95%CI 1.04 to 1.24),high blood pressure(PR 1.06,95%CI 1.03 to 1.10)and chronic back pain(PR 1.07,95%CI 1.04 to 1.11).Hospital admission was associated with very poor self-perceived health(PR 3.03,95%CI 2.14 to 4.31),accidents at home(PR 1.54,95%CI 1.40 to 1.69),chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)(PR 1.34,95%CI 1.22 to 1.47),high blood pressure(PR 1.08,95%CI 1.01 to 1.17),chronic back pain(PR 0.91,95%CI 0.84 to 0.98),moderate difficulty walking(PR 1.33,95%CI 1.21 to 1.45)and severe difficulty walking(PR 1.67,95%CI 1.51 to 1.85).Conclusions In the European diabetic population,the high cumulative incidences of primary care visits and hospital admissions are associated with labour status,alcohol consumption,self-perceived health,long-standing health problems,high blood pressure,chronic back pain,accidents at home,COPD and difficulty walking.

New semi-analytical approach for ice lens heaving during artificial freezing of fine-grained material

The calculation of frost heaving with ice lens formation is still not standard for construction projects using artificial ground freezing(AGF).In fine-grained material,ice lenses may initiate and lead to significant heaving at the ground surface,which should be considered in advance.However,the complex processes during ice lens formation are still not fully understood and difficult to capture in a simple approach.In the past,the semi-analytical approach of Konrad and Morgenstern used one soil constant,the“segregation potential(SP)”.It has been mainly and most successfully applied to the heave calculation of natural-induced soil freezing in cold regions.Its application to AGF has been so far unsuccessful.To solve this,a new semi-analytical approach is presented in this paper.It includes AGF conditions such as bottom-up freezing,temperature gradients to reach great freezing velocities,and a distinction between two freezing states.One is the freezing-up state until a certain frost body thickness is reached(thermal transient state),and the other is a holding phase where the frost body thickness is kept constant(thermal quasi-steady state).To test its ability,the results are applied to another freezing direction,the top-down freezing.The new approach is validated using two different frost-susceptible soils and,in total,50 frost heave tests.In the thermal transient region,where the SP is applicable,the two semi-analytical approaches are compared,showing improved performance of the current method by about 15%.

In this report we present the generalization of a solution to Einstein's equations with perfect fluid for the case of Einstein–Maxwell with perfect fluid.The effect of the charge is reflected by a parameter,ν,and its interval is determined by the positivity condition from the pressure in the interior of the star.It is shown that the solution is stable according to the Zeldovich criteria as well as in relation to the criteria of the adiabatic index.The compactness,u=GM/c^(2)R,of this charged model is greater than it is for the chargeless case as a result of the effect of the presence of the charge.This allows it to represent stars with a high compactness,in particular a graphic analysis is presented for the star SAX J1808.4-3658 with mass M=1.435M_(⊙)and radius R=7.07 km.From these data and employing the solution,we obtain that the total maximum charge for the star is Q=2.4085×10^(20)C.

Exponential Continuous Non-Parametric Neural Identifier With Predefined Convergence Velocity

This paper addresses the design of an exponential function-based learning law for artificial neural networks(ANNs)with continuous dynamics.The ANN structure is used to obtain a non-parametric model of systems with uncertainties,which are described by a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations.Two novel adaptive algorithms with predefined exponential convergence rate adjust the weights of the ANN.The first algorithm includes an adaptive gain depending on the identification error which accelerated the convergence of the weights and promotes a faster convergence between the states of the uncertain system and the trajectories of the neural identifier.The second approach uses a time-dependent sigmoidal gain that forces the convergence of the identification error to an invariant set characterized by an ellipsoid.The generalized volume of this ellipsoid depends on the upper bounds of uncertainties,perturbations and modeling errors.The application of the invariant ellipsoid method yields to obtain an algorithm to reduce the volume of the convergence region for the identification error.Both adaptive algorithms are derived from the application of a non-standard exponential dependent function and an associated controlled Lyapunov function.Numerical examples demonstrate the improvements enforced by the algorithms introduced in this study by comparing the convergence settings concerning classical schemes with non-exponential continuous learning methods.The proposed identifiers overcome the results of the classical identifier achieving a faster convergence to an invariant set of smaller dimensions.

A numerical case study on the long-term seismic assessment of reinforced concrete tunnels in corrosive environments

The paper investigates the long-term seismic behaviour of an underground reinforced concrete(RC)metro tunnel in Santiago,Chile,considering the combined effects of chloride-induced corrosion and cumulative,low-amplitude seismic shaking on the structure’s performance.The soil-tunnel response is evaluated with the aid of transient,nonlinear finite element analysis using a two-dimensional(2D)plane strain numerical model that adopts advanced nonlinear models for the simulation of soil and concrete plasticity and the dynamic stiffness behaviour.The effects of corrosion deterioration are demonstrated in terms of time-dependent loss of rebar area and cover concrete stiffness and strength.The study illustrates the influence of ageing and repeated seismic shaking on lining deformation,crack development,and the modal characteristics of the intact and degrading systems.The results indicate that multiple lowamplitude events drive the non-degrading RC tunnel beyond its elastic regime without significant structural response consequences.A noticeable impact of corrosion deterioration on the structure’s seismic performance is revealed,increasing with the number and intensity of earthquake events.Two different tunnel embedment depths are comparatively assessed.The analyses demonstrate larger coseismic section convergence in the case of the deeper tunnel,yet a less pronounced effect of ageing and successive seismic loading compared to the shallow section,which is evident in the RC lining cracks at the end of shaking.
