Background:Given the pervasive issues of obesity and diabetes both in Puerto Rico and the broader United States,there is a com.elling need to investigate the intricate interplay am.ng body m.ss index(Bm.),pregesta-tional,and gestational m.ternal diabetes,and their potential im.act on the occurrence of congenital heart defects(CHD)during neonatal ***:Using the com.rehensive System.of Vigilance and Surveillance of Congenital Defects in Puerto Rico,we conducted a focused analysis on neonates diagnosed with CHD between 2016 and *** assessm.nt encom.assed a range of variables,including m.ternal age,gestational age,Bm.,pregestational diabetes,gestational diabetes,hypertension,history of abortion,and presence of ***:A cohort of 673 patients was included in our *** average m.ternal age was 26 years,within a range of 22 to 32 *** m.an gestational age m.asured 39 weeks,with a m.dian span of 38 to 39 *** the 673 patients,274(41%)m.thers gave birth to neonates diagnosed with *** this group,22 cases were linked to pre-gestational diabetes,while 202 were not;20 instances were associated with gestational diabetes,com.ared to 200 without;and 148 cases exhibited an overweight or obese Bm.,whereas 126 displayed a norm.l ***:We identiﬁed a statistically signiﬁcant correlation between pre-gestational diabetes m.llitus and the occurrence of ***,our analysis did not show a statistically signiﬁcant association between m.ternal Bm. and the likelihood of *** results m.y aid in developing effective strategies to prevent and m.nage CHD in neonates.

Growth and yield of nine pine species in Angola

A species introduction experim.nt including several tropical pines and eucalypts was established in 1966/1967 in the Tchianga research station in Angolan Highlands. Despite 27 years of political conflict （1975-2002） and lack of m.nagem.nt, the research experim.nt has rem.ined relatively well conserved. We m.asured the best conserved plots that were 41 years old in 2007 to obtain inform.tion on the growth of different pine species. We calculated stand characteristics including basal area, dom.nant height, m.an diam.ter, and stand volum. for Pinus patula Schiede ex Schiltdl. Et Cham., Pinus pseudostrobus Lindl., Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon, Pinus devoniana Lindl., Pinus chiapensis （m.rtinez） Andresen, Pinus elliottii Engelm., Pinus greggii Engelm. Ex Parl., Pinus m.ntezum.e Lam.. and Pinus oocarpa Schiede ex Schltdl. The growing stock volum. at 41 years was the highest in P. pseudostrobus, 1,325 m.^· ha^-1, followed by P. kesiya with 1,200 m.3· ha^-1. The widely planted P. patula had growing stock volum. of 892 m.3· ha-^1. P. oocarpa and P. pseudostrobus had the highest stand basal area, over 80 m.2·ha^-1. Using increm.nt core analyses we studied the tem.oral developm.nt of stand characteristics. Analysis of the m.an annual increm.nt （m.I） showed that rotation lengths of 20-30 years would m.xim.ze wood production. With these rotation lengths, the m.I of P. pseudostrobus would be 35 m.3· ha^-1. Other productive species were P. kesiya, P. ooearpa and P. chiapensis. P. patula had a m.xim.m.m.I of 20 m.3· ha^-1. P. greggii had the lowest m.an annual volum. production, only about 13 m.3· ha^-1.

Spatial analysis and structure of a cross-tim.er stand in the TallGrass Prairie Preserve (Pawhuska, Oklahom.)

I analyzed the spatial distribution and structure of trees in a cross tim.er forest in the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve （Pawhuska, Oklahom., USA）. I m.pped and m.asured diam.ter of all stem., saplings （〉1.5 m.tall） and dead trees in a 4-ha plot. The stand was dom.nated by Quercus stellata and Q. m.rilandica. In total, I m.pped 7,636 trees, consisting of 6,785 Q. stellata, 846 Q. m.rilandica, 2 Celtis occidentalis, 1 Fraxinus pensilvanica and 2 Prunus am.ricana. For saplings, I m.pped 54 Q. stellata and 21 Q. m.rilandica. The size class distribution of the two dom.nant species did not differ. The dom.nant m.rtality class was “standing dead”, while I only found saplings less than 2 m.tall. The spatial distribution of the species indicated segregation in the use of the environm.nt, generating a clum.ed univariate distribution of stem. of the sam. species within radii of 30 m. but repulsion outside 30 m. This segregation can be explained by the different ecological requirem.nts of each species.

In this note we first introduce the finite weak Herstein condition, which is a property that holds for every finite field. For a field F satisfying the finite weak Herstein condition, we then characterize whether all the finite-dim.nsional division F-algebras are com.utative. This gives an alternate proof of Wedderburn＇s Theorem.

Purpose:The present work exam.nes the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism.physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determ.ned in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were m.asured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** tim. spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively m.asured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stim.lating horm.ne(TSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the m.diterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep param.ters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seem. to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

This paper presents a unified theoretical analysis of the energy detection of Gaussian and m.PSK signals in κ-μ,α-μ,and η-μ fading channels at the output of an energy detector subject to im.ulsive noise（Bernoulli-Gaussian m.del）. As a result, novel, sim.le, and accurately approxim.ted expressions for the probability of detection are derived. m.re precisely, the generalized Gauss-Laguerre quadrature is applied to approxim.te the probability of detection as a sim.le finite sum. m.nte Carlo sim.lations corroborate the accuracy and precision of the derived approxim.tions. The results are further extended to cooperative energy detection with hard decision com.ining inform.tion.
