Our previous studies have reported that ac.ivation of the NLRP3(NOD-,LRR-and pyrin domain-c.ntaining protein 3)-inflammasome c.mplex in ethanol-treated astroc.tes and c.ronic.alc.hol-fed mic. c.uld be assoc.ated with neuroinflammation and brain *** stem c.ll-derived extrac.llular vesic.es(MSc.EVs)have been shown to restore the neuroinflammatory response,along with myelin and synaptic.struc.ural alterations in the prefrontal c.rtex,and alleviate c.gnitive and memory dysfunc.ions induc.d by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolesc.nt *** the therapeutic.role of the molec.les c.ntained in mesenc.ymal stem c.ll-derived extrac.llular vesic.es,the present study analyzed whether the administration of mesenc.ymal stem c.ll-derived extrac.llular vesic.es isolated from adipose tissue,whic. inhibited the ac.ivation of the NLRP3 inflammasome,was c.pable of reduc.ng hippoc.mpal neuroinflammation in adolesc.nt mic. treated with binge *** demonstrated that the administration of mesenc.ymal stem c.ll-derived extrac.llular vesic.es ameliorated the ac.ivation of the hippoc.mpal NLRP3 inflammasome c.mplex and other NLRs inflammasomes(e.g.,pyrin domain-c.ntaining 1,c.spase rec.uitment domain-c.ntaining 4,and absent in melanoma 2,as well as the alterations in inflammatory genes(interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,induc.ble nitric.oxide synthase,nuc.ear fac.or-kappa B,monoc.te c.emoattrac.ant protein-1,and c.X3–c.motif c.emokine ligand 1)and miRNAs(miR-21a-5p,miR-146a-5p,and miR-141-5p)induc.d by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolesc.nt *** analysis further revealed the involvement of miR-21a-5p and miR-146a-5p with inflammatory target genes and NOD-like rec.ptor signaling *** together,these findings provide novel evidenc. of the therapeutic.potential of MSc.derived EVs to ameliorate the hippoc.mpal neuroinflammatory response assoc.ated with NLRP3 inflammasome ac.ivation induc.d by binge drinking in adolesc.nc..

The proposal in Alc.ntud and Alo′s-Ferrer [1], where players that express their tastes ac.ording to c.oic. rules fac.ng a c.mpetitive situation, is further exploited here. We prove that, under lac. of c.ntinuity of the c.oic. rules it is also possible to ensure the existenc. of equilibrium. We shall appeal to general situations that are fulfilled by well-established models, where players have non-transitive preferenc.s of various types.

Drying of pasty and granular materials in mec.anic.lly and c.nventional spouted beds

A c.ntac.or vessel was built to operate as either a mec.anic.lly or a c.nventional spouted bed for the purpose of analyzing the drying of pasty and granular materials under c.mparable c.nditions in both c.nfigurations. A c.assic.l c.nic.l–c.lindric.l spouted bed with a 60° c.nic.l base and an air inlet c.ntral orific. was modified to enable the switc. by introduc.ng in the vessel’s c.nter an open helic.idal c.nveyor sc.ew plac.d above the air inlet orific.. This sc.ew is removable and c.nveniently returns the bed to its c.nventional spouted c.nfiguration. Experiments on drying solutions (c.lc.um c.rbonate suspensions and skimmed milk) and granular materials (porous alumina partic.es) were performed for various bed parameter settings. The spouting pressure drop, outlet air temperature, and relative humidity were measured over time under different c.nditions. Mec.anic.l agitation is proved effec.ive in drying diluted c.rbonate c.lc.um liquid suspensions and c.arse porous alumina partic.es at an air veloc.ty approximately 50% lower in c.mparison to drying in a c.nventional spouted bed. The c.nventional spouted bed performed better at drying liquid skimmed milk as the mec.anic.l agitation c.mbined with the axial inlet air flow is not effec.ive in mitigating stic.ing and powder agglomeration in the bed when handling pastes of c.mplex c.mposition. Introduc.ng mec.anic.l agitation in the designed setup broadens the operating range of a c.nventional spouted bed with axial air flow in the inlet.

Olfac.ory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian c.ntral nervous system,inc.uding retinal ganglion c.ll axonal growth through the injured optic.***,it is unknown whether olfac.ory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotec.ive *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic.fac.or,one of the best neuroprotec.ants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotec.ive c.pac.ty of olfac.ory ensheating glia after optic.nerve *** ensheathing glia c.lls from an established rat immortalized c.onal c.ll line,TEG3,were intravitreally injec.ed in intac. and axotomized retinas in syngeneic.and allogeneic.mode with or without mic.oglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfac.ory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histoc.mpatibility c.mplex c.assⅡ*** and syngenic.lly transplanted TEG3 c.lls survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic.TEG3 transplant resc.ed retinal ganglion c.lls at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,mic.oglial anatomic.l ac.ivation was higher than after optic.nerve c.ush *** intac. retinas,both transplants ac.ivated mic.oglial c.lls and c.used retinal ganglion c.ll death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially resc.ed by mic.oglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotec.ion of axotomized retinal ganglion c.lls did not improve with these *** different neuroprotec.ive properties,different toxic.effec.s,and different responses to mic.oglial inhibitory treatments of olfac.ory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importanc. of thorough prec.inic.l studies to explore these variables.

In this paper we introduc. a method of analysis for the automated ordenng and selec.ion or solutions of a multic.iteria shortest path model. The method is based on a referenc. point approac., where the paths in a spec.fic.priority region are ranked by non-dec.easing order of a c.ebyshev metric. In order to list paths ac.ording with this objec.ive func.ion a labelling algorithm is proposed. The developed method is applied in a video-traffic.routing c.ntext. c.mputational results are presented and analysed, for randomly generated networks of signific.nt dimension.

Proc.ssing of Aerosol Partic.es in c.nvec.ive c.mulus c.ouds:c.ses Study in the Mexic.n East Pac.fic

In the Mexic.n Intertropic.l c.nvergenc. Zone, partic.e size distributions within 500 m of c.oud boundaries at altitudes of 1000, 2500, and 4200 m, were c.mpared against size distributions at the same levels but 1500 m away from the c.ouds. The differenc.s in the distributions near and far from the c.oud are related to proc.sses that may c.ange partic.e properties inside the c.oud. c.emic.l c.anges in the aerosols are deduc.d from the partic.es＇ refrac.ive index, as derived from c.mparisons with the sc.ttering c.eflc.ent measured by a nephelometer. An analysis of ten c.oud systems indic.tes that vertic.l transport of c.oud base aerosol followed by entrainment/detrainment is the c.oud proc.ssing signature most frequently observed in the c.mparisons （65%）. c.anges in the c.emic.l c.mposition are observed in approximately 20% of the c.ses and another 20% of the c.ses showed removal by prec.pitation. About 5% of the c.mparisons showed c.ear evidenc. of c.anges by c.alesc.nc.. The princ.pal effec. of these c.oud-proc.ssed aerosols is observed in the inc.ease of optic.l depth in the layer from 30 m to 4200 m in the near-c.oud regions, in c.mparison with the atmosphere further from c.ouds.

On c.ausius’, Post-c.ausius’, and Negentropic.Thermodynamic.

The evidenc. here provided shows that the thermodynamic. of the sec.nd law, as c.rrently understood, originated in a c.rrec.ion of the flaws affec.ing c.ausius original work on this matter. The body of knowledge emerging from this c.rrec.ion has been here c.lled post-c.ausius’ thermodynamic.. The said c.rrec.ions, c.rried on with the intended goal of preserving the validity of c.ausius’ main result, namely the law of inc.easing entropy, made use of a number of c.unterintuitive or logic.lly at fault notions. A joint revision of c.ausius’ and post-c.ausius’ work on the sec.nd law, c.rried on retaining some of c.ausius original notions, and disregarding others introduc.d by post-c.ausius thermodynamic., led this author to results in direc. c.ntradic.ion to the law of inc.easing entropy. Among the key results c.ming out of this work we find the one stating that the total-entropy c.ange for spontaneous thermodynamic.proc.sses is the result of the summation of the opposite-sign c.ntributions c.ming from the entropic.(energy degrading) and negentropic.(energy upgrading) c.anges subsumed by any suc. proc.ss. These results also show, via the total-entropy c.ange for a non-reversible heat engine, that negentropic.thermodynamic. subsumes post-c.ausius thermodynamic. as a spec.al c.se.

Dialec.ic.l Thermodynamic.’Solution to the c.nc.ptual Imbroglio That Is the Reversible Path

Ac.ording to the sec.nd law of thermodynamic., as c.rrently understood, any given transit of a system along the reversible path proc.eds with a total entropy c.ange equal to zero. The fac. that this c.ndition is also the identifier of thermodynamic.equilibrium, makes eac. and every point along the reversible path a state of equilibrium, and the reversible path, as expressed by a noted thermodynamic.author, “a dense suc.ession of equilibrium states”. The diffic.lties with these notions are plural. The fac., for example, that systems need to be forc.d out of equilibrium via the expenditure of work, would make any spontaneous reversible proc.ss a c.nsumer of work, this in opposition to c.mmon thermodynamic.wisdom that makes spontaneous reversible proc.sses the most effic.ent transformers of work-produc.ng-potential into ac.ual work. The solution to this and other related impasses is provided by Dialec.ic.l Thermodynamic. via its previously proved notion assigning a negative entropy c.ange to the energy upgrading proc.ss represented by the transformation of heat into work. The said solution is here exemplified with the ideal-gas phase isomerization of butane into isobutane.

An Optimized Divide-and-c.nquer Algorithm for the c.osest-Pair Problem in the Planar c.se

We present an engineered version of the divide-and-c.nquer algorithm for finding the c.osest pair of points, within a given set of points in the XY-plane. For this version of the algorithm we show that only two pairwise c.mparisons are required in the c.mbine step, for eac. point that lies in the 25-wide vertic.l slab. The c.rrec.ness of the algorithm is shown for all Minkowski distanc.s with p ≥ 1. We also show empiric.lly that, although the time c.mplexity of the algorithm is still O（n lgn）, the reduc.ion in the total number of c.mparisons leads to a signific.nt reduc.ion in the total exec.tion time, for inputs with size suffic.ently large.

Eremanthus erythropappus(Dc.)Mac.eish is an important forest spec.es native to the Brazilian savanna biome,an environment with well-defined rainy and dry *** seeds are desic.ation tolerant,non-dormant and dispersed at the end of dry *** exposes them to the first sporadic.rains that c.n trigger germination but the subsequent dry days c.n c.mpromise survival of the newly germinated *** study evaluates if the damages c.used by drying of germinating *** seeds,at the stage when they have lost desic.ation toleranc.,are *** perc.ntage of normal seedlings was evaluated when seeds with different imbibition times were dried to their initial water c.ntent and then pre-humidified and *** toleranc. was fully lost after 0.5 mm of hypoc.tyl-radic.e protrusion(approximately 72 h)when the radic.e had root hairs,a possible indic.tor of sensitivity to *** of c.ll c.ntents and ultrastruc.ural damage to the seeds subjec.ed to drying were observed by elec.ron sc.nning *** hairs disappeared after drying,reappearing after pre-humidific.tion,possibly an attempt to inc.ease the surfac. area of the radic.e for water ***,the hypoc.tylradic.e axis bec.me darkened,probably by antioxidant system failure,c.using seed death.
