BACKGROUNd The liver has traditionally been regarded as resistant to antibody-mediated rejection(AMR).AMR in liver transplants is a field in its infancy compared to kidney and lung *** our case we present a patient with alpha-1-antitrypsin disease who underwent ABO compatible liver transplant complicated by acute liver failure(ALF)with evidence of antibody mediated rejection on allograft biopsy and elevated serum donor-specific antibodies(dSA).This case highlights the need for further investigations and heightened awareness for timely *** SUMMARY A 56 year-old woman with alpha-1-antitrypsin disease underwent ABO compatible liver transplant from a deceased *** recipient MELd at the time of transplant was *** flow cytometric crossmatches were noted to be positive for T and B *** patient had an uneventful recovery *** on postoperative day 5 the patient developed fevers,elevated liver function tests,distributive shock,renal failure,and hepatic *** went into ALF with evidence of antibody mediated rejection with portal inflammation,bile duct injury,endothelitis,and extensive centrizonal necrosis,and C4d staining on allograft biopsy and elevated *** various interventions including plasmapheresis and immunomodulating therapy,she continued to *** was relisted and successfully underwent liver *** This very rare case highlights AMR as the cause of ALF following liver transplant requiring retransplantation.

The effect of a homogenizing treatment on the hardness of as-cast Zn–Al–Cu alloys was investigated. Eight alloy compositions were prepared and homogenized at 350 °C for 180 h, and their Rockwell 'B' hardness was subsequently measured. All the specimens were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and metallographically prepared for observation by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results of the present work indicated that the hardness of both alloys(as-cast and homogenized) increased with increasing Al and Cu contents; this increased hardness is likely related to the presence of the θ and τ′ phases. A regression equation was obtained to determine the hardness of the homogenized alloys as a function of their chemical composition and processing parameters, such as homogenization time and temperature, used in their preparation.

This study case is a rural school in La Pampa, Argentina, where we compare two energy efficiency systems for construction: the local traditional building type and a proposed one, based on passive system design during its life cycle. In addition, we assume that savings of emissions of greenhouse-gases are valued in terms of Argentina’s energy matrix. The efficiency, in terms of energy, involves the consumption for its manufacture (extraction, transport and assembly of materials), construction, maintenance and dismantling, recycling and final disposal of waste. Knowing this information at the preliminary stage can be advantageous to evaluate the selected materials in terms of energy and cost savings to amortize its value over the life cycle, and introduce other types of design. At present, there are significant problems of resource scarcity. The implementation of the analysis of life cycle (LC) should be a significant contribution in the field of construction in reference to awareness about energy conservation and efficiency, and therefore contributing to the sustainable development of societies.

Colorectal cancer incidence has been rising strongly in parallel with economic *** the past few decades,much has been learned about the lifestyle,dietary and medication risk factors for this *** respect to lifestyle,compelling evidence indicates that prevention of weight gain and maintenance of a reasonable level of physical activity can positively influence in lowering the *** there is controversy about the role of specific nutritional factors,consideration of dietary pattern as a whole appears useful for formulating *** quite often recommended,the role for many supplements,including omega-3,vitamin d,folate,and vitamin B6,remains *** calcium and vitamin d supplementation appear to add a modest benefit,particularly in those with a low daily *** regard to chemoprevention,medications such as aspirin and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs,and postmenopausal hormonal replacement for women might be associated with substantial reductions in colorectal cancer risk,though their utility is affected by their side effect ***,the role of agents such as statins,bisphosphonates and antioxidants have yet to be ***,primary prevention strategies focusing on modifying environmental,lifestyle risk factors,and chemopreventive drugs are options that have already been tested,and may impact on colon cancer incidence.

Posterior cortical atrophy(PCA) is a rare neurodegene-rative condition characterized by progressive visual-perceptual deficits. Although the neurocognitive profile of PCA is a growing and relatively well-established field, non-pharmacological care remains understudied and to be widely established in clinical practice. In the present work we review the available literature on non-pharmacological approaches for PCA, such as cognitive rehabilitation including individual cognitive exercises and compensatory techniques to improve autonomy in daily life, and psycho-education aiming to inform people with PCA about the nature of their visual deficits and limits of cognitive rehabilitation. The reviewed studies represented a total of 7 patients. There is a scarcity of the number of studies, and mostly consisting of case studies. Results suggest non-pharmacological intervention to be a potentially beneficial approach for the partial compensation of deficits, improvement of daily functionality and improvement of quality of life. Clinical implications and future directions are also highlighted for the advancement of the field, in order to clarify the possible role of non-pharmacological interventions, and its extent, in PCA.

The analysis of the filamentary structure of the cosmo as well as that of the internal structure of the polar ice suggests the development of models based on three-dimensional(3d)point processes.A point process,regarded as a random measure,can be expressed as a sum of delta dirac measures concentrated at some random *** integration with respect to the point process leads the continuous wavelet transform of the process *** possible mother wavelets,we propose the application of the Mexican hat and the Morlet wavelet in order to implement the scale-angle energy density of the process,depending on the dilation parameter and on the three angles which define the direction in the Euclidean *** indicator proves to be a sensitive detector of any variation in the direction and it can be successfully implemented to study the isotropy or the filamentary structure in 3d point patterns.

This study investigates the recent near-surface temperature trends over the Antarctic *** make use of available surface observations,ECMWF’s ERA5 and its predecessor ERA-Interim,as well as numerical simulations,allowing us to contrast different data *** use hindcast simulations performed with Polar-WRF over the Antarctic Peninsula on a nested domain configuration at 45 km(PWRF-45)and 15 km(PWRF-15)spatial resolutions for the period 1991?*** addition,we include hindcast simulations of KNMI-RACMO21P obtained from the CORdEX-Antarctica domain(~50 km)for further *** show that there is a marked windward warming trend except during *** windward warming trend is particularly notable in the autumn season and likely to be associated with the recent deepening of the Amundsen/Bellingshausen Sea low and warm advection towards the Antarctic *** the other hand,an overall summer cooling is characterized by the strengthening of the Weddell Sea low as well as an anticyclonic trend over the Amundsen Sea accompanied by northward *** persistent cooling trend observed at the Larsen Ice Shelf station is not captured by ERA-Interim,whereas hindcast simulations indicate that there is a clear pattern of windward warming and leeward ***,larger temporal correlations and lower differences exhibited by PWRF-15 illustrate the existence of the added value in the higher spatial resolution simulation.

India,under its breeding blanket R&d program for dEMO,is focusing on the development of two tritium breeding blanket concepts;namely the lead-lithium-cooled ceramic breeder and the helium-cooled ceramic breeder(HCCB).The study presented in this paper focuses on the neutronic design analysis and optimization from the tritium breeding perspective of the HCCB *** Indian concept has an edge-on configuration and is one of the variants of the helium-cooled solid breeder blanket concepts proposed by several partner countries in *** Indian HCCB blanket having lithium titanate(Li2TiO3)as the tritium breeder and beryllium(Be)as the neutron multiplier with reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic steel structure aims at utilizing the low-energy neutrons at the rear part of the *** aim of the optimization study is to minimize the radial blanket thickness while ensuring tritium self-sufficiency and provide data for further neutronic design and thermal-hydraulic layout of the HCCB *** is found that inboard and outboard blanket thicknesses of 40 cm and 60 cm,respectively,can give a tritium breeding ratio(TBR)>1.3,with 60%6Li enrichment,which is assumed to be sufficient to cover potential tritium losses and associated *** results also demonstrated that the Be packing fraction(PF)has a more profound impact on the TBR as compared to 6Li enrichment and the PF of Li2TiO3.

BACKGROUNd Haemoglobin drop is common in acute coronary syndrome(ACS)patients and correlates with poor ***,the association between mild haemoglobin drop and adverse clinical outcome remains insufficiently *** study aimed to examine the association between in-hospital haemoglobin drop and risk for adverse clinical outcomes in ACS patients,especially those with mild *** Included patients from the BleeMACS(Bleeding complications in a Multicenter registry of patients discharged after an Acute Coronary Syndrome)registry were categorized into three groups by the presence and amount of in-hospital haemoglobin drop(non-drop,mild drop and severe drop).The cut-off point between mild drop and severe drop is≥3 g/*** Cox regression was used to assess the association between haemoglobin drop and major adverse cardiac endpoints(MACE).Patients taking potent P2Y_(12) inhibitors were selected for the additional *** score matching was used to avoid selective bias in the additional *** Of 6911 patients,4949 patients(71.6%)experienced in-hospital haemoglobin *** with non-drop group,patients with haemoglobin drop had higher risk of MACE[adjusted hazard ratio(HR)=1.36,95%CI:1.03–1.80 for mild drop group;adjusted HR=1.70,95%CI:1.07–2.68 for severe drop group].Patients in mild drop group were less likely to receive potent P2Y_(12) inhibitors at discharge(mild drop group *** drop group ***-drop group:10.9%vs.10.7%vs.23.8%).After propensity score matching adjustment among patients with potent P2Y_(12) inhibitors,patients in mild drop group were not associated with an increased risk of MACE than those in non-drop group(adjusted HR=1.52,95%CI:0.49–4.72).CONCLUSIONS In-hospital haemoglobin drop was common in ACS patients and associated with a higher risk for adverse *** prescription for potent P2Y_(12) inhibitors may be responsible for poor prognoses among patients with mild haemoglobin dro
