The exponential growth of mobile applications and services during the last years has challenged the existing network ***,the arrival of multiple management solutions to cope with this explosion along the end-to-end network chain has increased the complexity in the coordinated orchestration of different segments composing the whole *** Zero-touch Network and Service management(ZSm)concept has recently emerged to automatically orchestrate and manage network resources while assuring the Quality of Experience(QoE)demanded by *** learning(ml)is one of the key enabling technologies that many ZSm frameworks are adopting to bring intelligent decision making to the network management *** paper presents a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art application of ml-based techniques to improve ZSm *** this end,the main related standardization activities and the aligned international projects and research efforts are deeply *** this dissection,the skyrocketing growth of the ZSm paradigm can be ***,different standardization bodies have already designed reference architectures to set the foundations of novel automatic network management functions and resource *** with these advances,diverse ml techniques are being currently exploited to build further ZSm developments in different aspects,including multi-tenancy management,traffic monitoring,and architecture coordination,among ***,different challenges,such as the complexity,scalability,and security of ml mechanisms,are also identified,and future research guidelines are provided to accomplish a firm development of the ZSm ecosystem.

Echocardiography in centenarians： characteristics, utility and follow-up

Background Echocardiography has been shown to be a valuable resource in the diagnosis of many cardiac conditions, and can be used in all age groups, from the fetus to the oldest old. In the context of an increasingly aging population, the impact and utility of echocar- diography in centenarians is largely unknown. This study is to determine whether echocardiography in centenarians aids in making clinical patient management decisions. methods A retrospective review of echocardiograms from 1986 to 2014, at two affiliated tertiary centers, in individuals who were 100 years or older at the time of the examination. Patient and echocardiogram characteristics, management decisions based on echocardiography, and mortality were documented. Results 114 centenarians had echocardiograms, with ages ranging from 100 to 107 years （101 - 1.4 years）. In 82 of the centenarians evaluated （72%）, no changes in management occurred as a consequence of the echocardiogram. From all management changes directly related to the echocardiogram, 81% （n = 26） of these corresponded to medication adjustments; interventional or surgical procedures followed the echocardiogram only in 4% （n = 5） of the total number of centenarians. Echocardiogram-based changes in management were only significant in patients that were referred for congestive heart failure （P = 0.02）. After the echocardiogram was performed, 1-month and 1-year mortality were 15% and 47%, respectively. The median survival after the echocardiogram was obtained was 13 months （range 0.03 to 145 months）, with no difference if there was a change or no change in manage- ment （P = 0.21）. Conclusions Among centenarians undergoing echocardiography, despite additional diagnostic information, echocardio- grams in centenarians influence management in a minority of cases, most commonly in the form of medication changes for treatment of heart failure. Successive generalisations of the basic SEIR model have been proposed to accommodate the different needs of the organisations handling the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic and the assessment of the public health measures adopted and named under the common um-brella of Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions(NPIs).So far,these generalisations have not been able to assess the ability of these measures to avoid infection by the SARS-CoV-2 and thus their contribution to contain the spread of the *** work proposes a new generalisation of SEIR model and includes a heterogeneous and age-related generation of infections that depends both on a probability that a contact generates the transmission of the disease and a contact *** results show(1)thanks to the universal wearing of facial coverings,the probability that a contact provokes the transmission of the disease was reduced by at least 50%and(2)the impact of the other NPI is so significant that otherwise Portugal would have gone into a non-sustainable situation of having 80%of its population infected in the first 300 days of the *** situation would have led to a number of deaths almost twenty times higher than the number that was actually recorded by December 26th,***,the results suggest that even if the requirement of universal wearing of facial coverings was adopted sooner jointly with closing workplaces and resorting to teleworking would have postponed the peak of the incidence,altought the epidemic path would have result in a number of infections hardly managed by the national Health ***,results confirm that(3)the health authorities adopted a conservative approach on the criteria to consider an infected individual not infective any longer;and(4)the most effective NPIs and stringency levels either impacting on self-protection against infection or reducing the contacts that would eventually result in infection are,in decreasing order of importance,the use of Facial coverings,Workplace clos

Root Secretion of Phytochemicals in Arabidopsis Is Predominantly Not Influenced by Diurnal Rhythms

Root-secreted phytochemicals mediate multiple interactions in the rhizosphere. The root exudation process can be altered by various biotic factors, including pathogenic and non-pathogenic microbes, and abiotic factors like temperature and soil moisture. It has been suggested that root secretion of specific flavonoids is influenced by diurnal rhythms （by light or dark） but a comprehensive analysis of the overall secretion of phytochemicals in response to diurnal rhythms has not been studied. In this study, we analyzed the effect of light/dark cycles on root exudation profiles using Arabidopsis as a model plant. Our results reveal that the root secretion of phytochemicals is partly regulated by the diurnal light cycle and follows two main patterns of secretion：（1） the large majority of phytochemicals in the exudates showed no diurnal pattern in their secretion, and （2） a few compounds showed a diurnal pattern in their secretion： three compounds increased in secretion only under light; two compounds increased in secretion only while it was dark; and two compounds increased in secretion during the transition from dark to light. Root-specific ABC transporters have been implicated in root exudation; an analysis of the gene expression patterns of ABC transporters in the roots of Arabidopsis at specific time points revealed that none of the ABC transporters followed a diurnal expression pattern, suggesting that they are expressed constantly during the day and night. Similarly, we analyzed the expression in roots of genes involved in secondary metabolite biosynthesis and found that some of the genes involved in phenylpropanoid and glucosinolate biosynthesis （i.e. 4-coumarate-CoA ligases （4Cl1 and 4Cl2）, flavonol synthases （FSl and FS2）, and CYP79B3） followed distinct diurnal expression patterns. Arbutoid mycorrhizae were synthesized between adult se- lected clones of Arbutus unedo l. and Pisolithus arhizus. Two micro- propagated clones were tested： All, in vitro and C1 （acclimatized plants） in nursery and later in a field trial. In vitro, rooted shoots were trans- ferred to test tubes containing the substrate previously inoculated with mycelium cultured on agar. In the nursery, two inoculation treatments were tested （vegetative inocula or dry sporocarps） and compared to con- trol plants. In the field trial, plants from nursery inoculation treatments were compared and an additional control treatment using seedlings was implemented. Plant height was evaluated 4 months later in the nursery and 20 months later in the field trial.

Colorectal cancer incidence has been rising strongly in parallel with economic *** the past few decades,much has been learned about the lifestyle,dietary and medication risk factors for this *** respect to lifestyle,compelling evidence indicates that prevention of weight gain and maintenance of a reasonable level of physical activity can positively influence in lowering the *** there is controversy about the role of specific nutritional factors,consideration of dietary pattern as a whole appears useful for formulating *** quite often recommended,the role for many supplements,including omega-3,vitamin D,folate,and vitamin B6,remains *** calcium and vitamin D supplementation appear to add a modest benefit,particularly in those with a low daily *** regard to chemoprevention,medications such as aspirin and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs,and postmenopausal hormonal replacement for women might be associated with substantial reductions in colorectal cancer risk,though their utility is affected by their side effect ***,the role of agents such as statins,bisphosphonates and antioxidants have yet to be ***,primary prevention strategies focusing on modifying environmental,lifestyle risk factors,and chemopreventive drugs are options that have already been tested,and may impact on colon cancer incidence.

Evaluation of vaccine rollout strategies for emerging infectious diseases:A model-based approach including protection attitudes

The oil viscosity specification for wind turbine gear oils is ISO VG 320,although there are quite different viscosity indexes oils for that viscosity *** work evaluates the behaviour of different base oil formulations,since polyalphaolefin(PAO),mineral,ester and polyalkeleneglycol(PAG)that withstand quite different viscosity *** oils evaluation was done in rolling bearing tests and gear *** behaviour was compared for operating conditions in the range observable in a wind turbine *** experimental results showed considerable differences between the different oils and it was observed that depending on the contact type the relative behaviour of the lubricants would change,i.e.,the best lubricant for the rolling bearing would not imply the best result on the gear *** gear geometry is also very important toward the transmission efficiency,once using a low loss gear concept a decrease of up to 25%in torque loss could be *** models were implemented with the purpose of performing a better simulation of the mechanical system and also to obtain the friction coefficient promoted by the tested oils.

Gaucher disease（GD）,the commonest lysosomal storage disorder,results from the lack or functional deficiency of glucocerebrosidase（GCase） secondary to mutations in the GBA1 *** is an established association between GBA1 mutations and Parkinson＇s disease（PD）,and indeed GBA1 mutations are now considered to be the greatest genetic risk factor for *** lysosomal-autophagic degradation of cellular proteins,including α-synuclein（α-syn）,is implicated in the pathogenesis of PD,and there is increasing evidence for this also in GD and *** we have recently shown in a Drosophila model lacking neuronal GCase,that there are clear lysosomal-autophagic defects in association with synaptic loss and *** addition,we demonstrated alterations in mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1（mTORC1） signaling and functional rescue of the lifespan,locomotor defects and hypersensitivity to oxidative stress on treatment of GCase-deficient flies with the mT OR inhibitor ***,a number of other recent studies have shown autophagy-lysosomal system（AlS） dysfunction,with specific defects in both chaperone-mediated autophagy（CmA）,as well as macroautophagy,in GD and GBA1-PD model *** we discuss the possible therapeutic benefits of inhibiting mT OR using drugs such as rapamycin to reverse the autophagy defects in GD and PD.
