In this study, chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) and chitosan nanoparticles- botanical extracts: EEA-CSNPs (ethanolic blueberry extract added chitosan nano-particles) and EMN-CSNPs (extract methanol of nanche added chitosan nano-particles) were characterized and evaluated in vitro ongrowth of Alternaria alternata isolated from Fig and Rosemary and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides isolated from Papaya and Soursop. From particle size distribution characteriza-tion, the size of nanoparticles increased after EEA incorporation. On the other hand, the smallest value of Z-average particle size was for the EMN-CSNPs. Zeta potential value decreased for CSNPs and EEA-CSNPs. However, when EMN is incorporated to CSNPs, the value is increased. From the results, it can be seen that the most stable suspension was EMN-CSNPs. After incorporation of Byrsonima crassifolia to CSNPs, no changes were observed in characteristic absorption bands for the FTIR spectra. However, after Vaccinium corymbosum incorporation to the CSNPs, changes were seen. For in vitro evaluation, CSNPs without EEA caused the total germination and sporulation inhibition of A. alternata from Rosemary. Incorporation of EMN to CSNPs improved the control of C. gloeosporioides with amycelial growth inhibition of 79% isolated from papaya and 82% isolated from soursop. In both isolated there were total germination inhibition. Overall, a synergistic effect between the chitosan and EMN was observed.

The fact that a fermion system in an external magnetic field breaks the spherical symmetry suggests that its intrinsic geometry is axisymmetric rather than spherical. In this work we analyze the impact of anisotropic pressures, due to the presence of a magnetic field, in the structure equations of a magnetized quark *** assume a cylindrical metric and an anisotropic energy momentum tensor for the source. We found that there is a maximum magnetic field that a strange star can sustain, closely related to the violation of the virial relations.

We revisit the problem of the maximum masses of magnetized white dwarfs （WDs）. The impact of a strong magnetic field on the structure equations is addressed. The pressures become anisotropic due to the presence of the magnetic field and split into parallel and perpendicular components. We first construct stable solutions of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations for parallel pressures and find that physical solutions vanish for the perpendicular pressure whenB ≥ 10^13 G. This fact estab- lishes an upper bound for a magnetic field and the stability of the configurations in the （quasi） spherical approximation. Our findings also indicate that it is not possible to obtain stable magnetized WDs with super-Chandrasekhar masses because the val- ues of the magnetic field needed for them are higher than this bound. To proceed into the anisotropic regime, we can apply results for structure equations appropriate for a cylindrical metric with anisotropic pressures that were derived in our previous work. From the solutions of the structure equations in cylindrical symmetry we have con- firmed the same bound for B- 10^13 G, since beyond this value no physical solutions are possible. Our tentative conclusion is that massive WDs with masses well beyond the Chandrasekhar limit do not constitute stable solutions and should not exist.

Improving Tsunami Risk Analysis by Integrating Spatial Resolution and the Population's Evacuation Capacities: A Case Study of Cartagena, Chile

Intensive human activity in global coastal areas has led to increasing exposure to hazards. Cartagena Bay in Chile, an area with a long history of tsunami disasters, has undergone significant urbanization and experiences heavy tourist activity during the summer. While some studies have examined risk in Cartagena by focusing on hazard and vulnerability characteristics, challenges remain in delivering more spatially accurate studies and incorporating the population's coping capacities. We undertook a tsunami risk assessment of Cartagena Bay that disaggregates social vulnerability to the census block level and assesses the inhabitants' pedestrian evacuation potential through an agent-based model. Our findings indicate that urban coastal areas in Cartagena Bay might face substantial tsunami risk in a worst-case scenario, with 31.0% to 54.1% of its territory—depending on the scale of analysis—classified as high-risk areas. Of the examined urban blocks, 31.4% have average evacuation times exceeding 17 min(the critical time required by the tsunami to reach its run-up), and the most disadvantaged census block is 1,971.9 m away from its nearest shelter. We also demonstrated that a more spatially accurate vulnerability analysis is more conservative too. For instance, zones with high-risk levels decreased by 42.8% when the study scale moved from the block to the zone level of analysis. Similarly, areas with low risk increased by 80%. In comparison to previous studies, our findings show that tsunami risk in Cartagena Bay is significantly lower if coping capacities such as evacuation potential are included in the analysis.

In practice,an equilibrium point of the power system is considered transiently secure if it can withstand a specified contingency by maintaining transient evolution of rotor angles and voltage magnitudes within set bounds.A novel sequential approach is proposed to obtain transiently stable equilibrium points through the preventive control of transient stability and transient voltage sag(TVS)problems caused by a severe *** proposed approach conducts a sequence of non-heuristic optimal active power re-dispatch of the generators to steer the system toward a transiently secure operating point by sequentially solving the transient-stability-constrained optimal power flow(TSC-OPF)*** the proposed approach,there are two sequential projection stages,with the first stage ensuring the rotor angle stability and the second stage removing TVS in voltage *** both projection stages,the projection operation corresponds to the TSC-OPF,with its formulation directly derived by adding only two steady-state variable-based transient constraints to the conventional OPF *** effectiveness of this approach is numerically demonstrated in terms of its accuracy and computational performance by using the Western System Coordinated Council(WSCC)3-machine 9-bus system and an equivalent model of the Mexican 46-machine 190-bus system.

Objective: We describe patients with MCS, the evolution of the Quick Environmental Exposure and Sensitivity Inventory (QEESI) score with a special focus on people whose fillings were removed. Methods: We have conducted a retrospective longitudinal cohort study in patients diagnosed with MCS and attended in the outpatient Internal Medicine department of the University Hospital of San Juan de Alicante, from January 1, 2008 to January 1, 2021. Sociodemographic, clinical, QEESI and treatment-related variables were collected. We performed descriptive and inferential analyses. Mixed linear models were used to analyze the QEESI. Calculations were carried out with an α error of 5%. Results: Thirty-three patients were included (72.7% women, mean age 56.2). MCS was mainly triggered by mercury (N = 20) and food intolerance (N = 22). The mean interval from symptoms onset was 120 months (SD 81.6). 114 QEESIs were analyzed: 82 (N = 17 without amalgams) and 32 (N = 16 with amalgams). In patients without amalgams, severity scores increased across all subscales except the masking index (vs. with amalgams). Mean scores for the group without amalgams (vs. with amalgams) were: chemical intolerance, 62.8 points (vs. 63.4 and 46.7);other intolerances, 52.7 points (vs. 62.8 and 50.3);symptom severity, 63.2 (vs. 76.7 and 63.3);masking index, 3.9 (vs. 3.2 and 2.8);and life impacts, 63.1 (vs. 58.4 and 49.8). Conclusion: The profile of patient with MCS is a middle-aged woman who is a frequent user of healthcare services, presents a long diagnostic delay and has borne a great personal, work and socioeconomic impact. The QEESI is useful for the clinical follow-up of patients, including the optimal treatment response in the case of amalgams. Clinical Significance: People affected by Multiple Chemical Sensitivity deserve the attention, understanding and help of health professionals and family members, to face an invisible illness for those who do not suffer from it. Thin films of SnSe and SnSe2 have been deposited using the ultrasonic spray pyrolysis（USP） *** the best of our knowledge this is the first report of the deposition of SnSe and SnSe2 thin films using a single spray *** use of a single spray solution for obtaining both a p-type material,SnSe,and an n-type material,SnSe2,simplifies the deposition *** SnSe2 thin films have a bandgap of 1.1 eV and the SnSe thin films have a band gap of 0.9 *** Hall measurements were used to determine the resistivity of the thin *** SnSe2 thin films show a resistivity of 36.73 Ωcm and n-type conductivity while the SnSe thin films show a resistivity of 180 Ωcm and p-type conductivity.

The clinical manifestations of COVID-19,caused by the SARS-CoV-2,define a large spectrum of symptoms that are mainly dependent on the human host *** Costa Rica,more than 169,000 cases and 2185 deaths were reported during the year 2020,the pre-vaccination *** describe the clinical presentations at the time of diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection in Costa Rica during the pre-vaccination period,we implemented a symptom-based clustering using machine learning to identify clusters or clinical profiles at the population level among 18,974 records of positive *** were compared based on symptoms,risk factors,viral load,and genomic features of the SARS-CoV-2 sequence.A total of 18 symptoms at time of diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported with a frequency>1%,and those were used to identify seven clinical profiles with a specific composition of clinical *** the comparison between clusters,a lower viral load was found for the asymptomatic group,while the risk factors and the SARS-CoV-2 genomic features were distributed among all the *** other distribution patterns were found for age,sex,vital status,and *** conclusion,during the pre-vaccination time in Costa Rica,the symptoms at the time of diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection were described in clinical *** host co-morbidities and the SARS-CoV-2 genotypes are not specific of a particular profile,rather they are present in all the groups,including asymptomatic *** addition,this information can be used for decision-making by the local healthcare institutions(first point of contact with health professionals,case definition,or infrastructure).In further analyses,these results will be compared against the profiles of cases during the vaccination period.
