Chemo-resistance has pushed cancer treatment to the boundary of *** challenge has encouraged scientists to look for nanotechnological *** this study,we have taken this goal one step further without depending on ***,hybrid metal,polymer,and lipid nanoparticles that formed an IR780-a photosensitizer and Zinc copper oxide incorporated nanoparticle(ZCNP)nanoparticles were utilized in a combined photothermal and photodynamic *** the mediation of triphenylphosphonium(TPP)as a mitochondria-targeting moiety,TPP-conjugated polymer-lipid hybrid nanoparticles containing ZCNP/IR-780 significantly enhanced cellular uptake by cancer cells and selectively targeted the mitochondria,which improved the induction of *** tumor-bearing mice,the nanoparticles were detected predominantly in tumors rather than in the other principle organs,which did not show notable signs of *** in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated a great improvement in photothermal and photodynamic efficacy in combination when compared to either one individually,and a significant inhibition of tumor growth was observed with the combined *** summary,this study describes an effective mitochondria-targeting nanocarrier for the treatment of cancer using combined photothermal and photodynamic therapies.

The wear rate between the rotors of a hypotrochoidal gear pump is *** the knowledge of shape design on the rotors,the contact stresses without hydrodynamic effect between the rotor teeth were evaluated through the calculation of the Hertzian contact *** on the above results and the sliding velocity between the rotors,a genetic algorithm (GA) was used as an optimization technique forminimizing the wear rate proportional factor (WRPF).The result shows that the wear rate or the WRPF can be reduced considerably,*** 12.8%,throughout the optimization using GA.

Optical encryption technologies based on room-temperature light-emitting materials are of considerable ***,we present three-dimensional(3D)printable dual-light-emitting materials for high-performance optical pattern *** are based on fluorescent perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)embedded in metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)designed for phosphorescent host-guest ***,perovskite-containing MOFs emit a highly efficient blue phosphorescence,and perovskite NCs embedded in the MOFs emit characteristic green or red fluorescence under ultraviolet(UV)*** dual-light-emitting MOFs with independent fluorescence and phosphorescence emissions are employed in pochoir pattern encryption,wherein actual information with transient phosphorescence is efficiently concealed behind fake information with fluorescence under UV ***,a 3D cubic skeleton is developed with the dual-light-emitting MOF powder dispersed in 3D-printable polymer filaments for 3D dual-pattern *** article outlines a universal principle for developing MOF-based room-temperature multi-light-emitting materials and a strategy for multidimensional information encryption with enhanced capacity and security.

The removal of As（III） and As（V） from aqueous solution was investigated using waste cast iron, which is a byproduct of the iron casting process in foundries. Two types of waste cast iron were used in the experiment： grind precipitate dust （GPD） and cast iron shot （CIS）. The X-ray diffraction analysis indicated the presence of Fe~ on GPD and CIS. Batch experiments were performed under different concentrations of As（III） and As（V） and at various initial pH levels. Results showed that waste cast iron was effective in the removal of arsenic. The adsorption isotherm study indicated that the Langmuir isotherm was better than the Freundlich isotherm at describing the experimental result. In the adsorption of both As（III） and As（V）, the adsorption capacity of GPD was greater than CIS, mainly due to the fact that GPD had higher surface area and weight percent of Fe than CIS. Results also indicated the removal of As（III） and As（V） by GPD and CIS was influenced by the initial solution pH, generally decreasing with increasing pH from 3.0 to 10.5. In addition, both GPD and CIS were more effective at the removal of As（III） than As（V） under given experimental conditions. This study demonstrates that waste cast iron has potential as a reactive material to treat wastewater and groundwater containing arsenic.

The distribution of electric field for the alignment and attachment of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was simulated. To be attached at the desired place, the aligned and attracted CNTs should be stayed in the desired area called the stable region or the quasi-stable region for an instant where the change of electric field is minimized. Since the conical electrode has the very narrow sized quasi-stable region, few CNTs can be attached. The rectangular electrodes have a wide stable region, so lots of CNTs can be attached. The results indicate that the round electrode which has a proper sized quasi-stable region is more effective for aligning and attaching a single CNT than the conical or rectangular shaped electrodes.

Polyelectrolyte complex micelles were prepared by self-assembly of polypeptide-based triblock copolymer as a new drug carrier for cancer *** triblock copolymer,poly(L-aspartic acid)-b-poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(L-aspartic acid)(PLD-b-PEG-b-PLD),spontaneously self-assembled with doxorubicin(DOX)via electrostatic interactions to form spherical micelles with a particle size of 60e80 nm(triblock ionomer complexes micelles,TBIC micelles).These micelles exhibited a high loading capacity of 70%(w/w)at a drug/polymer ratio of 0.5 at pH *** showed pH-responsive release patterns,with higher release at acidic pH than at physiological ***,DOX-loaded TBIC micelles exerted less cytotoxicity than free DOX in the A-549 human lung cancer cell *** microscopy in A-549 cells indicated that DOX-loaded TBIC micelles were transported into lysosomes via *** micelles possessed favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics and showed sustained DOX release in ***,these findings indicate that PLDb-PEG-b-PLD polypeptide micelles are a promising approach for anti-cancer drug delivery.

Aim： To evaluate the expression of leptin and leptin receptor in benign prostatic hyperplasia （BPH） and prostate cancer （PCa）, and to investigate whether they are associated with the development and progression of PCa. Methods： hnmunohistochemical staining was performed to examine the expression of leptin and leptin receptor in BPH and PCa. PCa was divided into three groups： localized PCa, locally advanced PCa and metastatic PCa. The positive staining was identified and the percentage of the positive staining was graded. We also assessed the relationship between both the Gleason score and body mass index （BMI） and PCa. Results： The percentage of the leptin expression in PCa was significantly higher than that in BPH （P 〈 0.01）. For the PCa group, the expressed levels of leptin showed a considerable correlation with localized PCa and metastatic PCa （P 〈 0.05）. Leptin receptor, however, did not reveal a definite difference between BPH and PCa. The expression of leptin indicated a significant difference between well-differentiated PCa （Gleason score ≤6） and poorly differentiated PCa （Gleason score 8-10）（P 〈 0.05）. The relation between the leptin expression level in PCa and the BMI was not remarkable （P = 0.447）. Conclusion： Our results suggest that leptin might have a promoting effect on the carcinogenesis and progression of PCa.

Although bismuth vanadate(BiVO4)has been promising as photoanode material for photoelectrochemical water splitting,its charge recombination issue by short charge diffusion length has led to various studies about heterostructure *** a hole blocking layer of BiVO4,titanium dioxide(TiO_(2)) has been considered unsuitable because of its relatively positive valence band edge and low electrical ***,a crystal facet engineering of TiO_(2) nanostructures is proposed to control band structures for the hole blocking layer of BiVO4 *** design two types of TiO_(2) nanostructures,which are nanorods(NRs)and nanoflowers(NFs)with different(001)and(110)crystal facets,respectively,and fabricate BiVO4/TiO_(2) heterostructure *** BiVO4/TiO_(2) NFs showed 4.8 times higher photocurrent density than the BiVO4/TiO_(2) *** decay time analysis and time-resolved photoluminescence reveal the enhancement is attributed to the reduced charge recombination,which is originated from the formation of type II band alignment between BiVO4 nanodots and TiO_(2) *** work provides not only new insights into the interplay between crystal facets and band structures but also important steps for the design of highly efficient photoelectrodes.

We report our experience with a synchronous case of gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) and intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB) in anelderly woman with neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1). A 72-year-old woman presented with a 2-mo history of right upper abdominal pain unrelated to diet and indigestion. Fourteen years earlier, she had been diagnosed with NF-1, which manifested as café au lait spots and multiple nodules on the skin. Computed tomography(CT) revealed a multilocular low-density mass with septation, and mural nodules in the right hepatic lobe, as well as a 1.7-cm-sized well-demarcated enhancing mass in the third portion of the duodenum. The patient subsequently underwent right hepatectomy and duodenal wedge resection. We present here the first report of a case involving a synchronous IPNB and GIST in a patient with NF-1.
