Towards a better understanding of hydrological interactions between the land surface and atmosphere, land surface mod- els are routinely used to simulate hydro-meteorological fluxes. However, there is a lack of observations available for model forcing, to estimate the hydro-meteorological fluxes in East Asia. In this study, Common Land Model （CLM） was used in offline-mode during the summer monsoon period of 2006 in East Asia, with different forcings from Asiaflux, Korea Land Data Assimilation System （KLDAS）, and Global Land Data Assimilation System （GLDAS）, at point and regional scales, separately. The CLM results were compared with observations from Asiaflux sites. The estimated net radiation showed good agreement, with r = 0.99 for the point scale and 0.85 for the regional scale. The estimated sensible and latent heat fluxes using Asiaflux and KLDAS data indicated reasonable agreement, with r = 0.70. The estimated soil moisture and soil temperature showed similar patterns to observations, although the estimated water fluxes using KLDAS showed larger discrepancies than those of Asiaflux because of scale mismatch. The spatial distribution of hydro-meteorological fluxes according to KLDAS for East Asia were compared to the CLM results with GLDAS, and the GLDAS provided online. The spatial distributions of CLM with KLDAS were analogous to CLM with GLDAS, and the standalone GLDAS data. The results indicate that KLDAS is a good potential source of high spatial resolution forcing data. Therefore, the KLDAS is a promising alternative product, capable of compensating for the lack of observations and low resolution grid data for East Asia.

An Advanced Probabilistic Neural Network for the Design of Breakwater Armor Blocks

In this study, an advanced probabilistic neural network （APNN） method is proposed to reflect the global probability density function （PDF） by summing up the heterogeneous local PDF which is automatically determined in the individual standard deviation of variables. The APNN is applied to predict the stability number of armor blocks of breakwaters using the experimental data of＇ van der Meet, and the estimated results of the APNN are compared with those of an empirical formula and a previous artificial neural network （ANN） model. The APNN shows better results in predicting the stability number of armor bilks of breakwater and it provided the promising probabilistic viewpoints by using the individual standard deviation in a variable.

Loose-fit graphitic encapsulation of silicon nanowire for one-dimensional Si anode design

Silicon nanowires（SiNWs） encapsulated with graphene-like carbon sheath（GS） having a void space in between（SiNW@V@GS） are demonstrated for the improved electrochemical performance of Si anode in lithium ion battery. The Si NW@V@GS structure was synthesized by a scalable fabrication method including four successive reactions： metal-catalyzed CVD growth of Si NWs, controlled thermal oxidation, and deposition of the graphitic layer, to form Si NW@SiO2@GS and additional chemical etching of sacrificial SiO2 layer between Si NWs and carbon sheath. During the synthetic process, the thickness of the void spacing was controlled by adjusting the oxidation-dependent process. The well-controlled void space and crystalline graphitic carbon sheath of the SiNW@V@GS structure enable good reversible capacity of1444 m Ahg^（-1） and cycling stability of 85% over 150 cycles.

Postoperative changes of manometry after restorative proctocolectomy in Korean ulcerative colitis patients

To investigate the changes of postoperative anal sphincter function and bowel frequency in Korean patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). METHODSA total of 127 patients with UC who underwent restorative proctocolectomy (RPC) during 20 years were retrospectively analyzed. The parameters of anal manometry and bowel frequency were compared according to the 6-mo intervals until 24 mo postoperatively. Manometry was used to measure the maximal squeezing pressure (MSP) and maximal resting pressure (MRP). RESULTSMSP decreased after surgery until 6 mo (157 to 142 mmHg); thereafter, it improved and was recovered to and maintained at the preoperative value at 12 mo postoperatively (142-170 mmHg, P < 0.001). Although the decreased MRP (65 to 56 mmHg) improved after 18 mo (62 mmHg), it did not completely recover to the preoperative value. The decreased rectal capacity after surgery (90 to 82 mL) gradually increased up to 150 mL at 24 mo. Although bowel frequency showed significant gradual decreases at each interval, it was stabilized after 12 mo postoperatively (6.5 times/d). CONCLUSIONPostoperative changes of manometry and bowel frequency after restorative proctocolectomy in Korean patients with UC were not different from those in Western patients with UC.

Cost-effective screening using a two-antibody panel for detecting mismatch repair deficiency in sporadic colorectal cancer

Intestinal endometriosis:Diagnostic ambiguities and surgical outcomes

BACKGROUND Endometriosis is a common disease for women of reproductive age. However,when it involves intestines, it is difficult to diagnose preoperatively because its symptoms overlap with other diseases and the results of evaluations can be unspecific. Thus it is important to know the clinical characteristics of intestinal endometriosis and how to exactly *** To analyze patients in whom intestinal endometriosis was diagnosed after surgical treatments, and to evaluate the clinical characteristics of preoperatively misdiagnosed *** We retrospectively reviewed the pathologic reports of 30 patients diagnosed as having intestinal endometriosis based on surgical specimens between January2000 and December 2017. We reviewed their clinical characteristics and surgical *** Twenty-three(76.6%) patients showed symptoms associated with endometriosis,with dysmenorrhea being the most common(n = 9, 30.0%). Thirteen patients(43.3%) had a history of pelvic surgeries. Ten patients(33.3%) had a history of treatment for endometriosis. Only 4 patients(13.3%) had a diagnosis of endometriosis based on endoscopic biopsy findings. According to preoperative evaluations, 13 patients(43.3%) had an initial diagnosis of pelvic endometriosis and 17 patients(56.6%) were misdiagnosed as having other diseases. The most common misdiagnosis was submucosal tumor in the large intestine(n = 8, 26.7%),followed by malignancies of the colon/rectum(n = 3, 10.0%) and ovary(n = 3,10.0%). According to the Clavien-Dindo classification, 5 complications were grade I or II and 2 complications were grade IIIa. Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4(IRAK4)is a pivotal enzyme in the Toll-like receptor(TLR)/MYD88 dependent signaling pathway,which is highly activated in rheumatoid arthritis tissues and activated B cell-like diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(ABC-DLBCL).Inflammatory responses followed by IRAK4 activation promote B-cell proliferation and aggressiveness of ***,proviral integration site for Moloney murine leukemia virus 1(PIM1)functions as an anti-apoptotic kinase in propagation of ABC-DLBCL with ibrutinib *** developed a dual IRAK4/PIM1 inhibitor KIC-0101 that potently suppresses the NF-κB pathway and proinflammatory cytokine induction in vitro and in *** rheumatoid arthritis mouse models,treatment with KIC-0101 significantly ameliorated cartilage damage and ***-0101 inhibited the nuclear translocation of NF-κB and activation of JAK/STAT pathway in *** addition,KIC-0101 exhibited an anti-tumor effect on ibrutinib-resistant cells by synergistic dual suppression of TLR/MYD88-mediated NF-κB pathway and PIM1 *** results suggest that KIC-0101 is a promising drug candidate for autoimmune diseases and ibrutinib-resistant B-cell lymphomas.

Effects of Mg Enhancement and Heat Treatment on Microstructures and Tensile Properties of Al2Ca-Added ADC12 Die Casting Alloys

The effects of Mg enhancement and heat treatment on the microstructures and tensile properties of Al_2Ca-added ADC12 die casting alloys were investigated. 0.3% and 0.5% Mg in the form of a master alloy including a trace amount of Al_2Ca were added to conventional ADC12（383 and AlSi10Cu2Fe） alloy with an initial Mg-content of 0.3% to increase the Mg content to 0.6% and 0.8%, respectively. To avoid heat treatmentinduced surface blisters, shortened solution treatment for 15 min at 490 ℃ and artificial aging for 6 h at 150 ℃ was undertaken. The results show that a 10% improvement in the shape factor of eutectic Si particles was achieved for Al_2Ca-added ADC12 with 0.8% Mg compared to the conventional ADC12 in the as-aged condition. Al_2Ca-added ADC12 with 0.8% Mg exhibited a yield strength of 289 MPa, a tensile strength of 407 MPa, and an elongation of 4.22%.
