Although T cells are known to be involved in the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease, it is unclear which subpopulation of T cells contributes to pathogenesis in acute myocardial infarction （MI）. We studied the immunological characteristics and clinical impact of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells in acute MI patients. The frequency of CD57＋ cells among CD8＋ T cells was examined in peripheral blood sampled the morning after acute MI events. Interestingly, the frequency of CD57＋ cells in the CD8＋ T-cell population correlated with cardiovascular mortality 6 months after acute MI. The immunological characteristics of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells were elucidated by surface immunophenotyping, intracellular cytokine staining and flow cytometry. Immunophenotyping revealed that the CD8＋CD57＋ T cells were activated, senescent T cells with pro-inflammatory and tissue homing properties. Because a high frequency of CD8＋CD57＋ T cells is associated with short-term cardiovascular mortality in acute MI patients, this specific subset of CD8＋ T cells might contribute to acute coronary events via their pro-inflammatory and high cytotoxic capacities. Identification of a pathogenic CD8＋ T-cell subset expressing CD57 may offer opportunities for the evaluation and management of acute MI.

Joining techniques of dissimilar materials for lightweight multi-material automotive body structure were discussed. The joining of 1 .4 mm thickness steel and 2 mm thickness of Al were performed by the new method that is hybrid laser welding system. After aluminum and steel were welded by laser hybrid welding process, the micro-structure investment and the micro-hardness test were carried out. Hybrid laser welding promises a bright future in joining technology of dissimilar materials for automotive components.

AIM： To assess the ability of endoscopic ultrasonography （EUS） to differentiate neoplastic from non- neoplastic polypoid lesions of the gallbladder （PLGs）.METhoDS： The uses of EUS and transabdominal ultrasonography （US） were retrospectively analyzed in 94 surgical cases of gallbladder polyps less than 20 mm in ***： The prevalence of neoplastic lesions with a diameter of 5-20 mm was 27.2% （10/58）; 22-15 mm, 25.4% （4/26）, and 16-20 mm, 50% （5/20）. The overall diagnostic accuracies of EUS and US for small PLGs were 80.9% and 63.9% （P 〈 0.05）, respectively. EUS correctly distinguished 12 （63.2%） of 19 neoplastic PLGs but was less accurate for polyps less than 1.0 cm （4/10, 40%） than for polyps greater than 1.0 cm （8/9, 88.9%）（P = 0.02）.CONCLUSION： Although EUS was more accurate than US, its accuracy for differentiating neoplastic from non-neoplastic PLGs less than 1.0 cm was low. Thus, EUS alone is not sufficient for determining a treatment strategy for PLGs of less than 1.0 cm.

Previous research has demonstrated that cotransplantation of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells （UCMSCs） and Schwann cells （SCs） can repair spinal nerve injury, but few studies have investigated their use in peripheral nerve regeneration. In the present study, we cotransplanted UCMSCs and SCs to repair 5-mm left sciatic nerve defects in rats, and compared the effects of UCMSCs ＋ SCs transplantation with UCMSCs or SCs transplantation alone. After UCMSCs ＋ SCs transplantation, nerve conduction velocity of the left sciatic nerve and gait were both improved. Retrograde tracing analysis demonstrated that the mean count of fluorogold-labeled neurons, as well as the mean axon count and axon density, were significantly greater in the left sciatic nerve after UCMSCs ＋ SCs transplantation, compared with UCMSCs or SCs transplantation alone. Improvements in conduction velocity and increased sheath thickness in the left sciatic nerve were similar after UCMSCs transplantation and UCMSCs ＋ SCs transplantation. These findings suggest that UCMSCs transplantation can promote the repair of sciatic nerve defects to some extent, but that combined UCMSCs ＋ SCs transplantation has a significantly greater regenerative effect.

Hydrogen is produced by direct dissociation of water vapor,i.e.,splitting water molecules by the electrons in water plasma at low pressure(<10–50 Torr)using microwave plasma *** condition generates a high electron temperature,which facilitates the direct dissociation of water molecules.A microwave plasma source is developed,utilizing the magnetron of a microwave oven and a TE10 rectangular *** quantity of the generated hydrogen is measured using a residual gas *** electron density and temperature are measured by a Langmuir probe,and the neutral temperature is calculated from the OH line intensity.

We propose an arbitrary controlled-unitary （CU） gate and a bidirectional quantum teleportation （BQTP） scheme. The proposed CU gate utilizes photonic qubits （photons） with cross-Kerr nonlinearities （XKNLs）, X-homodyne detectors, and linear optical elements, and consists of the consecutive operation of a controlled-path （C-path） gate and a gathering-path （G- path） gate. It is almost deterministic and feasible with current technology when a strong coherent state and weak XKNLs are employed. Based on the CU gate, we present a BQTP scheme that simultaneously teleports two unknown photons between distant users by transmitting only one photon in a path-polarization intra-particle hybrid entangled state. Consequently, it is possible to experimentally implement BQTP with a certain success probability using the proposed CU gate.

Exogenous delivery of nerve growth factor （NGF） promotes neural regeneration. however, the short half-life limits delivery efficacy. Therefore, a long-term, efficient, local delivery tool or scheme is needed. The purpose of this study was to construct a functioning, recombinant, adenoviral vector carrying human NGF-β （hNGF-β） DNA, and to measure expression of the constructed vector in vitro and in vivo. rhNGF-β adenoviral vector containing full-length hNGF-β cDNA was generated by homologous recombination in Escherichia CoIL The rhNGF-β adenovirus was packaged and amplified in human embryonic kidney HEK293 cells. Transformation efficiency, expression and function of rhNGF-β adenovirus for primary Schwann cells, Schwann cell lines, human embryonic kidney HEK 293 cells, CRH myoblasts, and NIH3T3 fibroblasts were evaluated. Subsequently, expression of rhNGF-β adenovirus at the peripheral nerve of rat was also assessed. Recombinant adenoviral vector carrying hNGF-β was successfully constructed and confirmed by restriction endonuclease analysis and DNA sequence analysis. Green fluorescent protein expression was observed in 90% of rhNGF-β adenovirus-infected cells （primary Schwann cells, Schwann cell line, human embryonic kidney HEK 293 cells, CRH myoblasts, and NIH3T3 fibroblasts） compared with non-infected cells. Total mRNA isolated from rhNGF-β adenovirus-infected cells exhibited strong expression. Maximum NGF release was induced by primary cultured Schwann cells at 4 days after infection, which steadily continued for 14 days. PC-12 cells exposed to media conditioned with rhNGF-β adenovirus-infected Schwann cells exhibited increased neurite extension. In vivo experiment revealed that the injected rhNGF-β adenovirus was transfected into the cells at the injected site and promoted expression of NGF, p75NTR and brain derived neurotrophic factor at the sciatic nerve and dorsal root ganglia.

AIM： To investigate the correlation of 18F-fluorodeoxy- glucose （18F-FDG） positron emission tomography （PET） with clinical features and the prediction of treatment response. METhoDS： A total of 83 hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients undergoing 18F-FDG PET before transar- terial chemolipiodolization with systemic chemo-infusion between October, 2006 and May, 2009 were retrospec-tively enrolled. The patients included 68 men and 15 women （mean age, 60 ~ 10.7 years）. The effect of 18F- FDG-monitored PET uptake on clinical features and on the evaluated treatment response was ascertained with modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors. The PET parameters of maximal standardized uptake value of the tumor （Tsuvmax）, the ratio of the tumor maximal standardized uptake value （SUV） to the liver maximal SUV （Tsuvmax/Lsuwax） and the ratio of tumor maximal SUV to the liver mean SUV （msuvmax/LSUVrnean） were tested as predictive factors. RESULTS： Among the 3 SUV parameters, the TSUV- =maxdLsuvmean ratio （cutoff value of 1.90） was significantly associated with tumor burden including tumor size, tu- mor number, α-fetoprotein levels and tumor stage （P 〈 0.001, P = 0.008, P = 0.011, P 〈 0.001, respectively）. The objective response rates in patients with a high SUV ratio （≥ 1.90） were significantly better than those with a low SUV ratio （〈 1.90）（P = 0.020）. The overall survival rates of patients exhibiting a low Tsuvmax/Lsu- Vmean ratio （〈 1.90） and those with a high SUV ratio （≥1.90） was 38.2 and 10.3 mo, respectively （P 〈 0.01）. however, the time to progression showed no significant difference between the groups （P = 0.15）. CONCLUSION： 18F-FDG PET can be an important predictor of HCC treatment. In particular, the Tsuvmax/ Lsuwean ratio （cutoff value of 1.90） can provide useful information in treatment prognosis for HCC patients treated with Iocoregional therapy.
