Fingerprint-spoofing attack often occurs when imposters gain access illegally by using artificial fingerprints,which are made of common fingerprint materials,such as silicon,latex,***,to protect our privacy,many fingerprint liveness detection methods are put forward to discriminate fake or true *** work on liveness detection for fingerprint images is focused on the construction of complex handcrafted features,but these methods normally destroy or lose spatial information between *** from existing methods,convolutional neural network(CNN)can generate high-level semantic representations by learning and concatenating low-level edge and shape features from a large amount of labeled ***,CNN is explored to solve the above problem and discriminate true fingerprints from fake ones in this *** reduce the redundant information and extract the most distinct features,ROI and PCA operations are performed for learned features of convolutional layer or pooling *** that,the extracted features are fed into SVM *** results based on the LivDet(2013)and the LivDet(2011)datasets,which are captured by using different fingerprint materials,indicate that the classification performance of our proposed method is both efficient and convenient compared with the other previous methods.

Antimicrobial susceptibility testing before first-line treatment for Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with dual or triple antibiotic resistance

To evaluate the efficacy of antimicrobial susceptibility-guided therapy before first-line treatment for infection in patients with dual or triple antibiotic *** total of 1034 patients infected by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) during 2013-2014 were tested for antimicrobial susceptibility. 157 of 1034 (15%) patients showed resistance to two (127/1034; 12%) and to three (30/1034; 3%) antibiotics. Sixty-eight patients with dual H. pylori-resistance (clarithromycin, metronidazole or levofloxacin) were treated for 10 d with triple therapies: OAL (omeprazole 20 mg b.i.d., amoxicillin 1 g b.i.d., and levofloxacin 500 mg b.i.d.) 43 cases, OAM (omeprazole 20 mg b.i.d., amoxicillin 1 g b.i.d., and metronidazole 500 mg b.i.d.) 12 cases and OAC (omeprazole 20 mg ***., amoxicillin 1 g b.i.d., and clarithromycin 500 mg b.i.d.) 13 cases based on the antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Twelve patients showed triple H. pylori-resistance (clarithromycin, metronidazole and levofloxacin) and received for 10 d triple therapy with OAR (omeprazole 20 mg ***., amoxicillin 1 g b.i.d., and rifabutin 150 mg b.i.d.). Eradication was confirmed by 13C-urea breath test. Adverse effects and compliance were assessed by a ***-to-treat eradication rates were: OAL (97.6%), OAM (91.6%), OAC (92.3%) and OAR (58.3%). Cure rate was significantly higher in naïve patients treated with OAR-10 compared to patients who had two or three previous treatment failures (83% vs 33%). Adverse events rates for OAL, OAM, OAC and OAR were 22%, 25%, 23% and 17%, respectively, all of them *** susceptibility-guided triple therapies during 10 d for first-line treatment leads to an eradication rate superior to 90% in patients with dual antibiotic H. pylori resistance.

Mastectomy blood Loss: Can We Predict the Need for blood Transfusion?

background: bleeding during total mastectomy and axillary clearance is inevitable, and blood transfusion is often required when bleeding is excessive. Objectives: To predict the probability of transfusion, we tested the hypothesis: “The blood loss during total mastectomy and axillary clearance in Accra is related to the stage of the disease and the size of the breast”. Design: Patients undergoing total mastectomy and axillary clearance were prospectively studied from June 2008 to June 2011. The breast and used swabs were weighed immediately after surgery, and patients’ full blood count was checked before and after surgery. Setting: Surgical wards and theatres of the Korle bu Teaching Hospital, Accra. Results: There were 80 women, aged 31 to 85 (Mean 50, SD 3.4) years, with body mass index between 20 and 46 (mean 23.7, median 28). Fifty one (63.8%) had Stage 3 disease, and 47 (58.8%) required neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Pre-operative haemoglobin was 9.5 g/dl to 14.9g/dl (mean 11.6 g/dl, SD 1.1). Post-operative haemoglobin was 9.2 g/dl - 13.4 g/dl (mean 10.9, SD 0.97). The mean drop in haemoglobin level was 0.75 g/dl. None of the 80 patients received blood transfusion. There was a linear increase in breast weight with increasing bMI. blood loss ranged from 95 g to 1185 g, with majority (59;73.8%) losing between 100 and 400 gram blood. Only 2 patients (2.5%) lost more than 1000 g of blood. Less than 400 g of blood was lost with breast weights below 2 kg. Above that, blood loss increased to more significant volumes. Conclusions: blood loss during total mastectomy and axillary clearance in Accra was directly related to the size of the breast. There was, however, inconclusive association between tumour stage and blood loss.

Passive polarization rotator based on silica photonic crystal fiber for 1.31-μm and 1.55-μm bands via adjusting the fiber length

A new polarization rotator based on the silica photonic crystal fiber is proposed. The proposed polarization rotator photonic crystal fiber （PR-PCF） possesses a triangle jigsaw-shape core region. The full-vector finite-element method is used to analyze the phenomenon of polarization conversion between the quasi-TE and quasi-TM modes. Numerical simulations show that the wavelengths of 1.31 μm and 1.55 μm are converted with a nearly 100% polarization conversion ratio with their matched coupling length and has a relatively strong realistic fabrication tolerance - 100 nm on the y axis and 50 nm on the x axis. The full vectorial finite difference beam propagation method is used to confirm the performance of the proposed PR-PCF.

Drawing the Yongquan protocol into the different stages of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation sequence

AIM: To introduce new applications into the ILCORcardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) "chain" ***: Stages of the CPR sequence("chain"): prior to the application of chest massage: assess the victim's state of consciousness and lung-heart failure;seek help(call 911), or in situations in which it is impossible to start the ILCOR protocol:(1) if the victim is trapped in car crash, overturned car, landslide, massive number of victims or catastrophe; or(2) delayed *** chest compression: Yongquan is simultaneously stimulated by a third rescuer. During defibrillator application: activate K-1 Yongquan through needles before defibrillation. Unsuccessful CPR: "gold standard"for legal clinical ***: Implies comparing two hypotheses: Ho(null hypothesis) demonstrates no association between the two variables studied; Ha(alternative hypothesis) implies some degree of relation between them. Difference between the two treatments is observed. If it is greater than the standard error multiplied by a coefficient of security, the difference is significant: Ha will be accepted and Ho rejected. First we will compare CPR without defibrillator(method "A") and K-1 Yongquan method(method "b"), using percentages of representative samples(treatment "A": 6.4% response, treatment "b": 85% response). If │PA- Pb│ is greater than the product of 1.96 times the standard error, the difference is significant. because │PA- Pb│ = 0.786 is greater than 0.098, the difference between 0.064 and 0.85 is statistically significant. Thus, we reject Ho and accept Ha as correct. Thus, it is improbable that chance was responsible for this association. This analysis shows that K-1 Yongquan method has a "quality guarantee". Second, we compare defibrillators("A") with K-1 Yongquan method("b")(treatment "A": 48%, treatment "b": 84%, │PA- Pb│= 0.36; │PA- Pb│ = 0.36 is greater than SE × 1.96 = 0.0148 and also statistically significant, demonstrating again the comparative value of the Yongquan met
