Purpose:To describe the development of a Compendium for estimating the energy costs of activities in adults>60 years(OA Compendium).Methods:Physical activities(pas)and their metabolic equivalent of task(MET)values were obtained from a systematic search of studies published in 4 sport and exercise databases(PubMed,Embase,SPORTDiscus(EBSCOhost),and Scopus)and a review of articles included in the 2011 Adult Compendium that measured pa in older *** values were computed as the oxygen cost(VO_(2),ml/kg/min)during pa divided by 2.7 m l/kg/min(MET_(60+))to account for the lower resting metabolic rate in older ***:We identified 68 articles and extracted energy expenditure data on 427 *** these,we derived 99 unique Specific Activity codes with corresponding MET_(60+)values for older *** developed a website to present the OA Compendium MET_(60+)values:https://***:The OA Compendium uses data collected from adults>60 years for more accurate estimation of the energy cost of pas in older *** is an accessible resource that will allow researchers,educators,and practitioners to find MET_(60+)values for older adults for use in pa research and practice.

Background:The Compendium of Physical Activities was published in 1993 to improve the comparability of energy expenditure values assigned to self-reported physical activity(pa)across *** original version was updated in 2000,and again in 2011,and has been widely used to support pa research,practice,and public health ***:This 2024 update was tailored for adults 19-59 years of age by removing data from those≥60 *** a systematic review and supplementary searches,we identified new activities and their associated measured metabolic equivalent(MET)values(using indirect calorimetry)published since *** replaced estimated METs with measured values when ***:We screened 32,173 abstracts and 1507 full-text papers and extracted 2356 pa energy expenditure values from 701 *** added303 new pas and adjusted 176 existing MET values and descriptions to reflect the addition of new data and removal of METs for older *** added a Major Heading(Video Games).The 2024 Adult Compendium includes 1114 pas(912 with measured and 202 with estimated values)across 22 Major ***:This comprehensive update and refinement led to the creation of The 2024 Adult Compendium,which has utility across research,public health,education,and healthcare domains,as well as in the development of consumer health *** new website with the complete lists of pas and supporting resources is available at https://***.

A Hunter-Gatherer Exercise Prescription to Optimize Health and Well-Being in the Modern World

There has been considerable innovation and advancement in the field of exercise and physical activity (pa).In regards to the battle against chronic non-communicable disease,however,we believe the model of pa that would prove most salu-tary is one closely mimicking that of our hunter-gatherer *** the purpose of longevity,the human body and our genetic makeup have been evolutionarily adapted to respond best to moderate amounts of high-intensity interval training,in conjunction with high amounts of low intensity ***,to optimize resiliency and cardiorespiratory fitness,a hunter-gatherer fitness regimen must include cross training targeted at flexibility,balance and *** not com-monly understood,the health benefits from exercise comprise a reverse *** endurance athletes residing on the furthest reaches of the pa spectrum appear to lose a substantial portion of the exercise-related longevity and cardiovascular benefits due to cardiac overuse ***,there is an emerging body of evidence suggesting leisure time exercise done with peers in a natural environment is significantly superior to that training done in *** idea of the "power of play" lends support to the ancestral model of pa whereby humans are evolutionary adapted to be highly social,outdoor creatures capa.le of a diverse range of pa at varying intensities.

Azithromycin(AZM),the most commonly prescribed antibiotic in the United States,is thought to have no activity against multidrugresistant Gram-negative pathogens such as Achromobacter xylosoxidans(AX)per standard minimum inhibitory concentration testing in cation-adjusted Mueller Hinton *** we provide the first report of AZM bactericidal activity against carbapenemresistant isolates of AX,with a multifold decrease in minimum inhibitory concentration across 12 clinical isolates when examined under physiologic testing conditions that better recapitulate the in vivo human *** pharmaceutical activity,evident in eukaryotic tissue culture media,is associated with enhanced AZM intracellular penetration and synergistic killing with human whole blood,serum,and ***,AZM monotherapy inhibited preformed AX biofilm growth in a dose-dependent manner together with a reduction in viable *** an illustrative case,AZM in combination with piperacillin-tazobactam exerted clear therapeutic effects in a patient with carbapenem-resistant AX mediastinitis,sternal osteomyelitis,and aortic graft *** study reinforces how current antimicrobial testing practices fail to recapitulate the host environment or host-pathogen interactions and may misleadingly declare complete resistance to useful agents,adversely affecting patient *** conclude that AZM merits further exploration in the treatment of drug-resistant AX *** approaches to antimicrobial susceptibility testing that better recapitulate the host environment should be considered,especially as infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial pathogens are expanding globally with high morbidity and mortality.

The Tianlai Cylinder pathfinder is a radio interferometer array designed to test techniques for 21 cm intensity mapping in the post-reionization Universe,with the ultimate aim of mapping the large scale structure and measuring cosmological parameters such as the dark energy equation of *** of its three parallel cylinder reflectors is oriented in the north-south direction,and the array has a large field of *** the Earth rotates,the northern sky is observed by drift *** array is located in Hongliuxia,a radio-quiet site in Xinjiang,and saw its first light in September *** this first data analysis paper for the Tianlai cylinder array,we discuss the sub-system qualification tests,and present basic system performance obtained from preliminary analysis of the commissioning observations during *** show typical interferometric visibility data,from which we derive the actual beam profile in the east-west direction and the frequency band-pass *** describe also the calibration process to determine the complex gains for the array elements,either using bright astronomical point sources,or an artificial on site calibrator source,and discuss the instrument response stability,crucial for transit *** on this analysis,we find a system temperature of about 90 K,and we also estimate the sensitivity of the array.

The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental *** the past decades,rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and ***,in spite of the progress of molecular methods,knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains *** order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis *** the information from previous efforts such as FUNGuild and FunFun together with involvement of expert knowledge,we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera,*** resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera,designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental *** order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses,the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS *** the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1%dissimilarity threshold.

The Circular Electron Positron Collider(CEPC)is a large scientific project initiated and hosted by China,fostered through extensive collaboration with international *** complex comprises four accelerators:a 30 GeV linac,a 1.1 GeV Damping Ring,a Booster capa.le of achieving energies up to 180 GeV,and a Collider operating at varying energy modes(Z,W,H,and tt).The linac and Damping Ring are situated on the surface,while the subterranean Booster and Collider are housed in a 100 km circumference underground tunnel,strategically accommodating future expansion with provisions for a potential Super Proton Proton Collider(SPPC).The CEPC primarily serves as a Higgs *** its baseline design with synchrotron radiation(SR)power of 30 MW per beam,it can achieve a luminosity of 5×10^(34)cm^(-2)s^(-1)per interaction point(IP),resulting in an integrated luminosity of 13 ab^(-1)for two IPs over a decade,producing 2.6 million Higgs *** the SR power to 50 MW per beam expands the CEPC's capability to generate 4.3 million Higgs bosons,facilitating precise measurements of Higgs coupling at sub-percent levels,exceeding the precision expected from the Hl-lHC by an order of *** Technical Design Report(TDR)follows the Preliminary Conceptual Design Report(Pre-CDR,2015)and the Conceptual Design Report(CDR,2018),comprehensively detailing the machine's layout,performance metrics,physical design and analysis,technical systems design,R&D and prototyping efforts,and associated civil engineering ***,it includes a cost estimate and a preliminary construction timeline,establishing a framework for forthcoming engineering design phase and site selection *** is anticipated to begin around 2027-2028,pending government approval,with an estimated duration of 8 *** commencement of experiments and data collection could potentially be initiated in the mid-2030s.
