One important challenge in psychiatric research is to translate findings from brain imaging research studies that identified brain alterations in patient groups into an accurate diagnosis at an early stage of illness,pre-diction of prognosis before treatment,and guidance for selection of effective treatments that target patient-relevant pathophysiological *** is the primary aim of the field of *** databases collected from large samples at multiple centers,sophisticated artificial intelligence(AI)algorithms may be used to develop clinically useful image analysis pipelines that can help physicians diagnose,predict,and make treatment *** this review,we selectively summarize psychoradiological research using magnetic reso-nance imaging of the brain to explore the neural mechanism of psychiatric disorders,and outline progress and the path forward for the combination of psychoradiology and AI for complementing clinical examinations in patients with psychiatric disorders,as well as limitations in the application of AI that should be considered in future translational research.

AIM:To compare the bowel cleansing efficacy of same day ingestion of 4-L sulfa-free polyethylene glycol(4-L SF-PEG)vs 2-L polyethylene glycol solution with ascorbic acid(2-L PEG+Asc)in patients undergoing afternoon ***:206 patients(mean age 56.7 years,61%male)undergoing outpatient screening or surveillance colonoscopies were prospectively randomized to receive either 4-L SF-PEG(n=104)or 2-L PEG+Asc solution(n=102).Colonoscopies were performed by two blinded *** preparation was graded using the Ottawa *** participant completed a satisfaction and side effect ***:There was no difference in patient demographics amongst groups.4-L SF-PEG resulted in better Ottawa scores compared to 2-L PEG+Asc,4.2 vs4.9(P=0.0186);left colon:1.33 vs 1.57 respectively(P=0.0224),right colon:1.38 vs 1.63 respectively(P=0.0097).No difference in Ottawa scores was found for the mid colon or amount of *** satisfaction was similar for both arms but those assigned to 4-L SF-PEG reported less bloating:23.1%vs 11.5%(P=0.0235).Overall polyp detection,adenomatous polyp and advanced adenoma detection rates were similar between the two ***:Morning only 4-L SF-PEG provided superior cleansing with less bloating as compared to 2-L PEG+Asc bowel preparation for afternoon ***,future studies evaluating efficacy of morning only preparation for afternoon colonoscopy should use4-L SF-PEG as the standard comparator.

An autonomous adaptive low-power instrument platform(AAL-PIP)chain of six stations has been newly established on East Antarctic Plateau along the 40°geomagnetic meridian,to investigate interhemispheric geomagnetically conjugate current systems,waves,and other space weather phenomena in Polar *** six stations,PG0 to PG5,which host low-power magnetometers(Fluxgate and Searchcoil),dual frequency GPS receivers,HF radio experiment,and run autonomously with solar power and two-way satellite communication,are designated at the geomagnetically conjugate(based on the International Geomagnetic Reference Field)locations of the West Greenland geomagnetic chain covering magnetic latitudes from 70°to 80°.We present the development,deployment,and operation of this chain,as well as the data collected by the chain and some preliminary scientific results showing evidence of interhemispheric asymmetries,which are important to better understand Solar Wind–Magnetosphere–Ionosphere(SWMI)coupling in Polar *** investigations focus on magnetic impulse(MI)events,traveling convection vortices(TCVs),and ultra-low frequency(ULF)waves in the coupled southern and northern hemispheres.

The wild type maize genotype, B73, is not amenable for callus production and an efficient protocol for B73 maize callus induction has never been reported up-to-date. Scientific efforts in producing B73 maize callus using all known callus inducible media have been unsatisfactory. Here we developed and described an efficient protocol for callus induction from B73 maize seedlings. The protocol is based on well known callus inducible media CM4C where we have sequentially subtracted some chemical compounds and added some new compounds mediating cell proliferations. This newly described protocol was able to induce callus production in a wide range of crop species including rice and soybean. We found that cell proliferation factors, NAA (auxin analog) and 2,4 D (auxin influx carrier) were not only very crucial but required for positive B73 maize callus induction. The absence of one or the other will lead to the failure of B73 maize callus production. The well known CM4C callus induction composition lacks NAA. Our findings will advance genetic studies of maize mutants generated from B73 genotype background.

Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (CHAB), caused by eutrophication, are known to threaten both wildlife and human health. Due to urbanization and land use changes, an increase of CHAB’s at a more frequent rate within Barnegat Bay has been observed. In order to detect possible CHAB causing cyanobacteria, water samples were collected from 12 different locations within Barnegat Bay. Each sample was filtered through a 30- and 0.4-μm polycarbonate filter sequentially. Flow cytometry was carried out for the filtrate collected between 0.4- and 30-μm. Chelex DNA extraction, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and gel electrophoresis were then performed for all sites using four primer sets (27F/785R, PSF/UR, CYA359F/CYA781R and MSF/MSR) designed to detect cyanobacteria. Flow cytometric results indicated the water samples contained a wide range of cyanobacteria, including M. aeruginosa, Cylindrospermum spp., Anabaena spp., and Synechococcus sp. IU 625 ranges from 3.16 to 8.17 × 107 cells·L-1. PCR-based assays suggest that general cyanobacteria as well as phytospecific species were present for all sites, but no toxin-producing Microcystis aeruginosa was detected. Plaque assays demonstrated the presence of cyanophages for S. IU 625, Anabaena spp., and M. aeruginosa at all sites, up to 105 PFU·ml-1.
