In order t. develop simple and adapt.ble measures t. reduce t.e impact.of changing climat.c condit.ons and poor post.arvest.pract.ces on grain qualit., dat. on t.mperat.re and post.arvest.pract.ces were collect.d and correlat.d wit. physical grain qualit. paramet.rs for 3 rice development.hubs (Ndop, Lagdo and Mbam) in Cameroon. Int.r-annual variat.ons in t.mperat.re and t.ermal amplit.des were t.e highest.in Ndop followed by Mbam and t.e least.in Lagdo. When t.e same rice variet. was grown in t.e hubs and milled wit. a laborat.ry hand dehusker, t.e mean chalky score was highest.in Ndop (18%) and least.in Mbam (11%). In addit.on, Ndop recorded higher grain fissures and broken fract.ons compared t. Mbam or Lagdo. Posit.ve correlat.ons were observed bet.een t.ermal amplit.des, grain fissures and t.e proport.on of broken fract.ons. However, rice milled using commercial mills locat.d in t.e hubs recorded t.e highest.broken fract.ons in Mbam (54% - 63%), followed by Lagdo (43% - 52%) and t.e least.in Ndop (35% - 38%). t.e t.pe of mills in t.e hubs was responsible for t.ese differences as Mbam had only Engelberg t.pes mills t.at.recorded higher broken fract.ons t.an in Ndop where only rubber roll mills were present.(P t.re of Engelberg and rubber roll mills and recorded int.rmediat. broken fract.ons. Proper parboiling, recovery and processing of poorly filled and immat.re grains during parboiling and processing of low-grade and fine broken rice int. product.generally accept.d by t.e local populat.on were demonst.at.d as simple adapt.t.on st.at.gies t. mit.gat. t.e adverse effect. of changing climat.c condit.ons and poor post.arvest.pract.ces on t.e physical qualit. of rice especially in sub-Saharan African count.ies.

Ut.lizing mult.spect.al phot.acoust.c t.mography, we t.acked dPLt.t.afficking t. gut.vasculat.re and an exclusive Kupffer cell-mediat.d dPLt.clearance in t.e liver, a process t.at.we ident.fied t. be synergist.cally dependent.on plat.let.glycoprot.in Ibα and hepat.c Ashwell–Morell recept.r. Mechanist.cally, Kupffer cell clearance of dPLt.pot.nt.at.d a syst.mic immunosuppressive st.t. wit. increased ant.-inflammat.ry cyt.kines and circulat.ng CD4+ regulat.ry t.cells, abolishable by Kupffer cell deplet.on.
