Antibacterial activity and characterization of secondary metabolites isolated from mangrove plant Avicennia officinalis

Objective:To explore antibacterial activity and characterization of secondary metabolites isolated from mangrove plant Avicennia officinalis(***).methods:In the present study the leaf extracts of *** were examined for its antibacterial potential using five different solvents against some reference strains of human pathogenic bacteria for the crude *** activity was observed for ethyl acetate and hence different concentrations like 15μL,25μL,and 50μL of ethyl extracts was checked for its antibacterial *** purification of crude extract was carried by column chromatography and fractions were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-mS) to identify ***:The crude ethyl acetate extracts of *** showed remarkable antibacterial activity with zones of inhibition of 13 mm against Eschericia coli(***) and 11 mm against Staphylococcus aureus (***).Fraction 13(ethyl acetate:methanol= 8:2) as the most potent one against with the minimal inhibitory concentration of 30 mm against *** and 25 mm against *** GCmS resultsof active column fraction(F13) revealed that the active principals were a mixture of hydroxy- 4 methoxybenzoic acid,diethyl phthalate,oleic ***:The leaf extracts with proven antibacterial effects can clearly be directed towards cancer treatment as to inhibiting cancer cell *** limited number of test organisms owes to a constraint of ***,the effect of strong bursts of leaf extracts on human pathogenic bacteria should further be tested on a wide range of test organisms.

目的临床数据分析旨在比较“8针法”针灸治疗与经典的中医针灸治疗LDH,得出的治疗方法有更高的症状改善腰椎间盘突出症的治疗以及试图找到一个更有效的LDH的针灸技术。方法收集2020年4月至2020年11月被确诊为腰椎间盘突出症(LDH)的患者,60例。随机分为组1(n=30)和组2(n=30)。组1采用“8针法”针灸治疗。组2采用传统针刺疗法治疗。两组治疗频率均为每周2次,间隔3～4天,共6周。12个疗程为一个疗程。每次治疗持续时间为30分钟。采用视觉模拟评分(Visual Analogue Scale,VAS)、日本骨科协会评分(Japan Orthopedic Association Score,JOA)、Roland-morris 残障问卷工作天数(Roland-morris Disability Questionnaire Work days,RmDQ)、Oswestry 残障指数问卷(Oswestry Disability Index,ODIQ)和mRI对两组的结果进行评估。数据分析在患者完成一个疗程后进行。结果本研究显示,经过一个疗程后,两组患者疼痛、功能和生活质量水平(VAS、JOA、RmDQ、ODIQ)均有统计学意义的改善(pm=.20,SE=.20)(p=.008),功能水平、完成生理和社会活动(ODIQ)(m=.07,SE=.01)(p=.001)较接受传统治疗的高(m=1.03,SE=.23)(p=.008),ODIQ(m=.10,SE=0.2)(p=.001)。试验还显示,在VAS中,8针法治疗在6次治疗后达到最佳结果VAS(m=.20,SE=.20)(pm=1.03,SE=.23)(pm=.20,SE=.20)(pm=28.60,SE=.40);RmDQ(m=.27,SE=.27):ODIQ(m=.07,SE=.01)(pm=1.03,SE=.23)(pm=27.57,SE=.52);RmDQ(m=.53,SE=.53);ODIQ(m=.10,SE=.02)(pmDQ差异无统计学意义结论对于腰椎间盘突出症(LDH)轻中度患者,“八针法”是更有效的非手术方法。

Effects of Eccentric Pre-loading on Concentric Vertical Jump Performance in Young Female Athletes

Purpose This study examined changes in vertical jump performance with progressively greater eccentric pre-loading in relation to growth and development in young female *** Twenty young female athletes ranging from 9 to 17 years old performed the following vertical jumps in random order:static jumps(SJs),counter-movement jumps(CmJs),and drop jumps(DJs)from drop heights of 20,30,and 40 cm(DJ20,DJ30,and DJ40,respectively).measurements included peak force(PF),peak rate of force development(RFD),peak power(PP),eccentric impulse(ECC),and concentric impulse(CON).measurements of growth included age,maturity offset,height,body mass,fat-free mass,and thigh muscle cross-sectional area(CSA).Results PF increased from the SJ-DJ20(Pm DJ20-DJ40(P=1.000).RFD remained the same from SJ-CmJ(P=1.000),increased from CmJ-DJ20(Pm DJ20-DJ40(P=0.874).PP increased from the SJ-CmJ(Pm the CmJ-DJ40(P≥0.486).CON remained the same across all verti-cal jumps(P=1.000),while ECC increased from the SJ-DJ40(P≤0.038).Jump height(JH)increased from the SJ-CmJ(Pm CmJ-DJ20(Pm DJ20-DJ40(P=1.000).The change in PP from the SJ-CmJ(ΔCmJ-SJ)was related to all measurements of growth except CSA(r=0.558-0.815).Conclusion Young females produced greater power during the CmJ than SJ,but equivalent power from the CmJ-DJ40,despite increases in ***,ΔCmJ-SJ was not related to CSA,which suggests other underlying mechanisms affect stretch-shortening cycle utilization in young female athletes.

The capability of embedded piezoelectric wafer active sensors(PWAS)to perform in-situ nondestructive evaluation(NDE)for structural health monitoring(SHm)of reinforced concrete(RC)structures strengthened with fiber reinforced polymer(FRP)composite overlays is ***,the disbond detection method were developed on coupon specimens consisting of concrete blocks covered with an FRP composite *** was found that the presence of a disbond crack drastically changes the electromecfianical(E/m)impedance spectrum lneasurcd at the PWAS *** spectral changes depend on the distance between the PWAS and the crack ***,large scale experiments were conducted on a RC beam strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP)composite *** beam was subject to an accelerated fatigue load regime in a three-point bending configuration up to a total of 807,415 *** these fatigue tests,the CFRP overlay experienced disbonding beginning at about 500,000 *** PWAS were able to detect the disbonding before it could be reliably seen by visual *** correlation between the PWAS readings and the position and extent of disbond damage was *** preliminary results demonstrate the potential of PWAS technology for SHm of RC structures strengthened with FRP composite overlays.

mammary gland growth and vascularity at parturition and during lactation in primiparous ewes fed differing levels of selenium and nutritional plane during gestation

Background： Objectives were to examine the effects of selenium （Se） supply and maternal nutritional plane during gestation on mammary gland growth, cellular proliferation, and vascularity at parturition and d 20 of lactation. Rambouillet primiparous ewes （n = 84） were allocated to treatments in a 2 x 3 factorial. Factors were dietary Se （adequate Se [ASe, 11.5 μg/kg BW] or high Se [HSe, 77.0 μg/kg BVV]） and nutritional plane （60% IRES], 100% [CON], or 140% [EXC]）. At parturition, lambs were removed and 42 ewes （7/treatment） were necropsied. Remaining ewes were fed a common diet meeting requirements for lactation and mechanically milked twice daily until necropsy on d 20. At both necropsy periods, mammary glands were dissected and tissues harvested. Samples were analyzed for RNA, DNA, and protein content, cell proliferation, and vascularity. Where interactions were present （P 〈 0.05）, least squares means from the highest-order interaction are presented. Results： Final body weight of ewes was least （P 〈 0.002） in RES, intermediate for CON, and greatest for EXC, regardless of stage of the ewe at necropsy （parturition or d 20 of lactation）. In ewes necropsied at parturition, mammary glands were heavier （P = 0.02） in EXC compared to RES, with CON intermediate. Concentration of RNA （rag/g） was decreased （P= 0.01） in EXC compared to CON at parturition. There was a tendency （P= 0.07） for a Se by nutrition interaction in percentage of cells proliferating where ASe-EXC ewes had greater （P_〈 0.02） number of proliferating cells then all other treatments. mammary vascular area tended （P = 0.08） to be affected by a Se by nutrition interaction where ASe-CON had less （P= 0.007） vascular area than HSe-CON ewes. In ewes necropsied at d 20 of lactation, the number of alveoli per area was decreased （P 〈- 0.05） in RES compared to CON and EXC-fed ewes. Removing contaminants from tannery wastewater by chemical precipitation using CaO and Ca(OH)2

The removal of Cr,sulfates and Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD)from industrial tannery wastewater by chemical precipitation was carried out using Calcium oxide(CaO)and Calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2).Different doses of alkalis,ranging from deficiency to excess hydroxyl species over the stoichiometric necessary,were used to remove theoretically the 100%of Cr[0.3-3.2 g alkali·(g Cr^3+)^-1].The precipitation was carried out at room temperature,10 min of vigorous stirring,200 r·min^-1 and a settling time of 24 h,followed by separation and characterization of liquid *** result of addition of alkalis,pH underwent increase as did the alkali *** removal of Cr,and sulfates also increased as alkali concentration did,although for first species the changes at higher alkali contents were less *** removal on the other hand,did not follow a unique trend,instead exhibited a *** on our results,selection of a specific dose of alkali was carried out taking as reference the efficiency on total chromium removal,keeping the pH in the range 7 to 9 to ensure Cr precipitation as chromium *** those conditions,jar test was used to produce enough liquid product in order to determine the removal percent of several other *** removal percent of the species was as follows:Cr,SO4^2-,ZnSO4,FeSO4,CN^-1,NiSO4,Fe2[Fe(CN)6]at 99.8%,66.9%,99.6%,21.4%,70.9%,52.8%and 76.4%with CaO,and 99.8%,61.6%,99.9%,7.1%,84.0%,54.4%and 90.5%with Ca(OH)2,respectively.

Shade shelters increase survival and photosynthetic performance of oak transplants at abandoned fields in semi-arid climates

Forest restorations conducted in semiarid, seasonally dry climates must deal with the intense drought stress that affects tree seedlings during the dry season. Although this water deficit is the most commonly invoked source of mortality for seedlings, several other environmental factors may also preclude survival of transplants. For instance, it has been widely reported that excessive light reduces the efficiency of the photosynthetic apparatus, hence decreasing plant survival, but most seedling transplants in deforested areas are conducted under these light conditions. This study is focused in determining whether excessive light affects the photosynthetic performance and survival of Quercus coccolobifolia, a mexican oak species, when their seedlings are transplanted in semiarid deforested areas. Further, this study tests the possibility of using artificial shade shelters to improve the ecophysiological performance and survival of seedlings. Oak seedlings were transplanted under full sunlight conditions and beneath artificial shade shelters of two different colors： white and black. To reduce water stress, and hence isolate the effects of light treatments, a drip irrigation system was implemented at each experimental plot. Seedling survival was monitored weekly for 128 days and photosynthetic performance was assessed by measuring chlorophyll fluorescence at three opportunities during the experiment. Sun-exposed seedlings showed lower photosynthetic performance and survival rates than those beneath shelters of both colors. These results suggest that sunlight damage can reduce seedling survival when they are transplanted in exposed sites, and that shade shelters can improve the success of forest restoration programs in semiarid climates.
