We give a local analytic characterization that a minimal surface in the 3-sphere S3 C R4 defined by an irreducible cubic polynomial is one of the Lawson＇s minimal tori. This provides an alternative proof of the result by Perdomo （Characterization of order 3 algebraic immersed minimal surfaces of S3, Geom. Dedicata 129 （2007）, 23 34）.

Joint disease affects approximately 52.5 mil- lion patients in the United States alone, costing 80.8 billion USD in direct healthcare costs. The development of treatment programs for joint disease and trauma requires accurate assessment of articular cartilage degradation. The articular cartilage is the interfacial tissue between articu- lating surfaces, such as bones, and acts as low-friction interfaces. Damage to the lamina splendens, which is the articular cartilage＇s topmost layer, is an early indicator of joint degradation caused by injury or disease. By gaining comprehensive knowledge on the lamina splendens, particularly its structure and interfacial properties, researchers could enhance the accuracy of human and animal biomechanical models, as well as develop appro- priate biomimetic materials for replacing damaged articu- lar cartilage, thereby leading to rational treatment programs for joint disease and injury. Previous studies that utilize light, electron, and force microscopy techniques have found that the lamina splendens is composed of collagen fibers oriented parallel to the cartilage surface and encased in a proteoglycan matrix. Such orientation maximizes wear resistance and proteoglycan retention while promoting the passage of nutrients and synovial fluid. Although the structure of the lamina splendens has been explored in the literature, the low-friction interface of this tissue remains only partially characterized. Various functional models are currently available for the interface, such as pure boundary lubrication, thin films exuded under pressure, and sheets of trapped proteins. Recent studies suggest that each of these lubrication models has certain advantages over one another. Further research is needed to fully model the interface of this tissue. In this review, we summarize the methods for characterizing the lamina splendens and the results of each method. Dear Editor,Since the late 1980s, trauma in China has been identified as a major public health challenge, with trafic-related fatalities accounting for 80% of accidental deaths[1]. In 2019, Shenzhen had a total population of approximately 20 million, and from 2010 to 2017, both emergency medical services and the total number of trauma patients increased, with trauma accounting for 47.0% and 38.4% of all patients in 2010 and 2017, respectively[2,3]. This report describes the efforts to implement programs and establish a trauma system in Shenzhen, China.

In recent years,our world has experienced significant disruptions due to the COviD-19 pandemic,and Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine,impacting human activities and the global *** paper explored air quality changes in Ukraine due to COVID-19,and Russia's invasion of Ukraine using on-demand with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get *** the cOVID-19 pandemic,strict quarantine policies in Ukraine led to a 2%reduction in tropospheric NO_(2) concentration before the lockdown and 4%during the lockdown *** like Kyiv,Donetsk,and Dnipro exhibited reductions of 5%,11%,and 16%,*** SO_(2) column concentration decreased by 6%before the lockdown and 2.5%during the lockdown period,except in high population density *** showed the highest reduction of 17%in SO_(2) concentration,while Donetsk and Dnipro exhibited an 11%***,during the Russian invasion,there was a significant increase in tropospheric NO_(2) concentration in heavily destroyed Kharkiv while most eastern regions experienced a *** total SO_(2) column was 48%higher before the war but reduced throughout the country after the war,except for in Kyiv and a few central *** findings can contribute to analyzing air pollution and building digital twin simulations for future reconstruction scenarios.

A symmetric all-organic non-aqueous redox flow-type battery was investigated employing the neutral small molecule radical 3-phenyl-1,5-di-p-tolylverdazyl,which can be reversibly oxidized and reduced in one-electron processes,as the sole charge storage *** voltammetry of the verdazyl radical in 0.5 m tetrabutylammonium hexa fluoro phosphate(TBAPF6)in acetonitrile revealed redox couples at-0.17 V and-1.15 V ***+/Ag,leading to a theoretical cell voltage of 0.98 *** the dependence of peak currents on the square root of the scan rate,diffusion coefficients on the order of 4 x 10 6 cm2 s-1 were *** performance was assessed in a static cell employing a Tokoyuma AHA anion exchange membrane,with 0.04 m verdazyl as catholyte and anolyte in 0.5 m TBAPF6 in acetonitrile at a current density of 0.12 mA *** coulombic efficiencies were good(94%-97%)throughout the experiment,the capacity faded gradually from high initial values of 93%of the theoretical discharge capacity to 35%by the 50th *** and energy efficiencies were 68%and 65%,*** analysis by cyclic voltammetry revealed that decomposition of the active material with cycling is a leading cause of cell degradation.

BACKGROUND:Gallstone ileus remains a rare but important cause of intestinal obstruction. mETHOD:We present a unique case of two gallstones causing intestinal obstruction at the same time. RESULTS:A 90-year-old lady presented with signs and symptoms of small bowel *** operation,two gallstones stuck at different points within the bowel were causing the obstruction and were removed. CONCLUSION:When operating on patients with small bowel obstruction from gallstone ileus,examination of the entire small bowel should be considered mandatory.

Current knowledge of the pathophysiology of acute pancreatitis indicates that pancreatic injury originates at the acinar cell level and then extends through a spectrum of damage ranging from mild peri-acinar inflammatory infiltration and edema to extensive pancreatic parenchymal and peri-pancreatic necrosis[1,2].Clinical acute pancreatitis correlates closely with this range of injury with the majority of patients experiencing mild disease,some having transient organ dysfunction which typically recovers after adequate resuscitation(moderate acute pancreatitis)and a variable minority exhibiting sustained organ failure together with radiological evidence of pancreatic necrosis(severe acute pancreatitis)[2,3].Worldwide,the management of this latter category of patients with severe acute pancreatitis remains a *** is no effective direct medical treatment and there is no role for early pancreatic debridement[3,4].This article provides a concise summary of current multidisciplinary management of patients with post-inflammatory pancreatic necrosis.

A recent seismic event was recorded by a deep longwall mine in Virginia at 3.7 mL on the local magnitude scale and 3.4 mmS by the United States Geological Survey(USGS) in *** investigations by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH) and Coronado Coal researchers have shown that this event was associated with geological features that have also been associated with other, similar seismic events in *** mapping and geological exploration in the mining area has made it possible to forecast possible locations for future seismic *** order to use the geology as a forecaster of mining-induced seismic events and their energy potential, two primary components are *** first component is a long history of recorded seismic events with accurately plotted *** second component is a high density of geologic data within the mining *** this case, 181 events of 1.0 mLor greater were recorded by the mine's seismic network between January, 2009, and October, *** the mining area, 897 geophysical logs, 224 core holes, and 1031 fiberscope holes were examined by mine *** this information, it was found that overburden thickness, sandstone thickness, and sandstone quality contributed greatly to seismic *** the data was analyzed, a pattern became apparent indicating that the majority of seismic events occurred under specific *** forecast maps were created based on geology of previous seismic *** forecast maps have shown an accuracy of within 74%–89% when compared to the recorded 181 events that were1.0 mLor greater when considering three major geological criteria of overburden thickness of 579.12 m or greater, 6.096–12.192 m of sandstone within 15.24 m of the Pocahontas number 3 seam, and a longwall caving height of 4.572 m or less.
