Combined U-Pb sHRIMP and Hf isotope study of the Late Paleozoic Yaminue Complex,Rio Negro Province,Argentina:Implications for the origin and evolution of the Patagonia composite terrane

We have carried out zircon U-Pb sHRIMP dating and Hf isotope determinations on a biotite paraschist and on a tonalitic orthogneiss of the Yaminué Complex, and re-evaluate this complex in the broader context of the tectonic evolution of the Patagonia composite terrane. In the metasedimentary unit （msuYC）, the youngest detrital zircon dated at 318 ± 5 Ma （Mississippian/Pennsylvanian boundary） indicates a Pennsylvanian （or younger） depositional age. The three main age populations peak at 474, 454 and 374 Ma. Preliminary Hf isotope data for two detrital zircons （447 and 655 Ma） yielded ε（Hf） values of -0.32 and 0.48, indicating that their primary sources contained small amounts of recycled crustal components （of Calymmian age; TDM 1.56 Ga）. Zircons from the orthogneiss （miuYC; intrusive into msuYC） show a crystallization age of 261.3 - 2.7 Ma （Capitanian; late middle Permian） which is broadly coeval with deformation, and Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic inheritance. Meaningful core-rim relationship between Neoarchean zircon cores and late Permian rims is well defined, indicating the occurrence of Archean crust in this sector of Patagonia. Hf TDM of Permian zircons is mainly Meso-Paleoarchean （2.97-3.35 Ga）, with highly negative e（Hf） values （ca, -33）. Hf TDM of inherited Neoarchean zircon cores is also Meso-Paleoarchean （3.14-3.45 Ga） but more juvenile （ε（Hf） = -0.3）. Hf isotopes reinforce the presence of unexposed ancient crust in this area. Combining geological and isotope data, as well as geophysical models, we identify the Yaminué Complex within the La Esperanza-Yaminué crustal block flanked by two other, distinct crustal blocks： the Eastern block which forms part of the Patagonia terrane sensu stricto, located in the eastern Patagonian region, and the Western block forming part of the southern Patagonia terrane. Their origins and timing of amalgamation to form the Patagonia composite terrane are also discussed.

Immune response to inactivated bacterial vector carrying the recombinant K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum in mice

The aggregation of amyloid-beta peptide and tau protein dysregulation are implicated to play key roles in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and are considered the main pathological hallmarks of this devastating disease. Physiologically, these two proteins are produced and expressed within the normal human body. However, under pathological conditions, abnormal expression, posttranslational modifications, conformational changes, and truncation can make these proteins prone to aggregation, triggering specific disease-related cascades. Recent studies have indicated associations between aberrant behavior of amyloid-beta and tau proteins and various neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as retinal neurodegenerative diseases like Glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. Additionally, these proteins have been linked to cardiovascular disease, cancer, traumatic brain injury, and diabetes, which are all leading causes of morbidity and mortality. In this comprehensive review, we provide an overview of the connections between amyloid-beta and tau proteins and a spectrum of disorders.

Ephedroid macrofossils have been widely documented in Cretaceous deposits,including numerous from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of NE ***,few ephedroid macrofossils have been reported from south ***,we describe a new plant of the family Ephedraceae,Arlenea delicata *** ***.,from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation of the Araripe Basin,Northeast Brazil,based on the vegetative and reproductive *** has the typical morphological characteristics of ephedroid plants,including fertile reproductive branches,opposite phyllotaxy,terminal female cones,a sympodial branching system,longitudinally striated internodes,and swollen *** new finding is unusual in having inner chlamydosperms subtended by two pairs of bracts,reproductive units connected to branches through swollen receptacles and a smooth seed *** new ephedroid taxon from the Crato Formation increases our understanding of plant diversity of this group during the Early ***,the general morphology(fleshy bracts and enlarged receptacles)of this new fossil discovery indicates that seeds of this plant may have been dispersed by animals such as pterosaurs(mainly the Tapejaridae)and birds(Enantiornithes and ornituromorpha).If true,this would explain the cosmopolitan distribution of Ephedraceae in the Lower Cretaceous.

Natural Gas Power Plants in the system security Role—The situation and solutions in Brazil

This study aims to apply a methodology to analyze the regulatory obstacles for the development of thermal power plants in a country. The study uses Brazil as an application case, although mostly of the findings can be useful to other countries. It also discusses other policies and actions by the government that may contribute to the growth of natural gas-fired power plants. Using deductive and comparative research methods, the first part of this method focuses on the stage of thermoelectric power generation in Brazil. The subsequent sections present the role of the integration of gas and electricity sectors, the main obstacles to the expansion of natural-gas power generation, how the country has deal with the expansion of natural-gas power generation, as well as how other obstacles has been faced. In raising the research question, when comparing the research results of selected countries, it should be noticed the impact that the experience and lessons elsewhere have had on policies formulation on Brazil. our conclusions pointed out that adequate policies for the natural gas-electricity Brazilian market integration make advisable the unification of electricity and natural gas agencies. We recommended developing a mathematical model to support decision-making on natural gas and electricity integration.

The use of Vis-NIR-sWIR spectroscopy in the prediction of soil available ions after application of rock powder

some of the problems attributed to traditional laboratory analyses that limit the correct assessment of the nutrient contents in the soil are time requirements and high cost of the soil nutrient *** solve these problems,a study was carried out to evaluate the use of visible,near-infrared,and short-wave infrared(Vis-NIR-sWIR)spectroscopy in the prediction of soil available ions submitted to the application of rock *** study was carried out on an Arenosol in ParanavaíCity/***(rock powders)were arranged within a split-plot system designed in randomized blocks with four *** was cultivated for 14 months after the application of rock ***,96 soil samples were collected for measuring the pH and available ions P,K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),s-so_(4)^(2-),si,Cu^(2+),Fe^(2+),Mn^(2+),and Zn^(2+)as well as spectral reading through a Vis-NIR-sWIR spectroradiometer to predict the soil chemical attributes through the partial least square regression(PLs)*** results showed that the elements K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cu^(2+),and Fe^(2+)could be predicted with a reasonable rightness degree(R^(2)_(p)>0.50,RPDp>1.40)from spectral ***,for the attributes pH,P,s-so_(4)^(2-),si,Mn^(2+),and Zn^(2+),there were no satisfactory models(R^(2)_(p)s,the application of rock powder changed the spectral curves and,because of that,allows the building of PLs models to predict the elements K^(+),Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cu^(2+),and Fe^(2+).Therefore,Vis-NIR-sWIR spectroscopy is a promising alternative to the routine analyses of soil fertility since it has advantages such as fast analytical speed,low cost,easy to operate,non-destructive,and environmentally friendly,because it does not use harmful chemicals.
