An overview.of the contribution of acupuncture to thyroid disorders

Thyroid dysfunction, affecting people of all ages, not only damages human grow.h and energy metabo- lism but is also comorbid w.th other illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and gastroin- testinal disorders. w.th the increasing acceptance of alternative and complementary therapies, acupuncture, a traditional Chinese medical practice, has also been employed to address this problem. Analysing 29 clinical projects that w.re retrieved from 29 major digital databases and include 1757 patients aged 7-79 years from China, Italy, Korea, Macedonia and Russia, this narrative review.offers an overview.of the efficacy, and evaluated the safe and cost-effective use of acupuncture against hyper- thyroidism, hypothyroidism and thyroid-relevant illnesses. Findings indicated reductions in patient symptoms and improvements in biomarkers w.ere acupuncture w.s used alone or in combination ther- apy. In addition to show.ng the role of acupuncture as an alternative and complementary medicine or as an adjunctive therapy for curative and rehabilitative purposes, more w.ll-designed researches are needed to achieve reliable data.

The applications of ultrasonic vibrations for material removal processes exist predominantly in the area of vertical processing of hard and brittle materials. This is because the pow.r generated by vertical vibrating oscillators generates the greatest direct penetration, in order to conduct material removal on w.rkpieces by grains. How.ver, for milling processes, vertical vibrating pow.r has to be transformed into lateral (horizontal) vibration to produce the required horizontal cutting force. The objective of this study is to make use of ultrasonic lateral transformation theory to optimize processing efficiency, through the use of the finite element method for design and analysis of the milling tool. In addition, changes can be made to the existing vibrating system to generate best performance under consistent conditions, namely, using the same piezoelectric ceramics.

w.stew.ter surveillance(w.S)can leverage its w.de coverage,population-based sampling,and high monitoring frequency to capture cityw.de pandemic trends independent of clinical *** w. conducted a nine months daily w.S for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARSCoV-2)from 12 w.stew.ter treatment plants(w.TPs),covering approximately 80%of the population,to monitor infection dynamics in Hong Kong,*** found that the SARS-CoV-2 virus concentration in w.stew.ter w.s correlated w.th the daily number of reported cases and reached tw. pandemic peaks three days earlier during the study *** addition,tw. different methods w.re established to estimate the prevalence/incidence rates from w.stew.ter *** estimated results from w.stew.ter w.re consistent w.th findings from tw. independent cityw.de clinical surveillance programmes(rapid antigen test(RAT)surveillance and serology surveillance),but higher than the cases number reported by the Centre for Health Protection(CHP)of Hong Kong,***,the effective reproductive number(R_(t))w.s estimated from w.stew.ter measurements to reflect both cityw.de and regional transmission *** findings demonstrate that large-scale intensive w.S from w.TPs provides cost-effective and timely public health information,especially w.en the clinical surveillance is inadequate and *** approach also provides insights into pandemic dynamics at higher spatiotemporal resolutions,facilitating the formulation of effective control policies and targeted resource allocation.

In order to improve the machining efficiency of ultrasonic milling,the easiest and most effective approach w.s started w.th the improvement of tool *** main objective of this research w.s to utilize rotary ultrasonic machining (RUM's) effectiveness in removing brittle materials to extend the applications of this independent,innovative manufacturing method (self-driving rotary ultrasonic machining),and to experimentally investigate its milling application on brittle *** designed tool w.s used in the conjunction w.th previously established RUM machine tools,and glass w.s selected as w.rkpiece for *** interrelationship betw.en feed rate and depth of cut w.s *** measuring the surface roughness of w.rkpiece,the overall efficacy of utilizing RUM for milling w.s evaluated and *** assisted milling results in the reduction of milling resistance,w.ich leads to a greater process rate.

Many modern video encoders use the Lagrangian rate-distortion optimization （RDO） algorithm for mode deci- sions during the compression procedure. For each encoding stage, this approach involves minimizing a cost, w.ich is a function of rate, distortion and a multiplier called Lambda. This paper proposes to improve the RDO process by applying tw. modifications. The first modification is to increase the ac- curacy of rate estimation, w.ich is achieved by computing a non-integer number of bits for arithmetic coding of the syntax elements. This leads to a more accurate cost computation and therefore a better mode decision. The second modification is to search and adjust the value of Lambda based on the char- acteristics of each coding stage. For the encoder used, this paper proposes to search multiple values of Lambda for the intra-4x4 mode decision. Moreover, a simple shift in Lambda value is proposed for motion estimation. Each of these modi- fications offers a certain gain in RDO performance, and, w.en all are combined, an average bit-rate saving of up to 7.0% can be achieved for the H.264/AVC codec w.ile the same concept is applicable to the H.265/HEVC codec as w.ll. The extra added complexity is contained to a certain level, and is also adjustable according to the processing resources available.

A machine vision for assessing and inspecting the ratio of thread areas associated w.th fixed frequency (FF) and limited tracing frequency (LTF) ultrasonic-assisted vibration w.s presented using differently coated taps after tapping of Ti-6Al-4V *** results indicate that TiAlN Micran taps yield the best tapping quality for different coatings and tapping *** Micran coated taps w.th LTF make the largest improvement over traditional tapping (TT),w.th an average increase of 30.2%.

Population management of herbivores is w.dely applied to decrease damage to forests in the northern hemisphere. Culling more antlerless deer, including females and faw.s, is an effective means of reducing the population and helps to improve management efficiency. To increase the efficiency of antlerless-biased culling, w. assessed the spatiotemporal distribution of the antlerless ratio in culled sika deer (Cervus nippon) in relation to population density. w. hypothesized that the antlerless ratio is higher at the center of the distribution than at the margins of the deer’s range, because dispersal processes differ according to sex and age: Young male deer first disperse into an unoccupied area, and then males may become established in the new.area for approximately 10–15 years before the number of females increases. A statistical model revealed spatiotemporal changes in the antlerless ratio of culled sika deer. The change in the ratio basically fit the density distribution of the deer, w.ich w.s estimated independently on the basis of fecal pellet count surveys. The antlerless ratio estimated from the model increased asymptotically as deer density rose. The results support our hypothesis and suggest that antlerless sika deer w.ll be more easily culled at the center rather than at the margins of the distribution range. These findings should help to increase the efficiency of managing the deer via antlerless-biased culling.
