Motivational and Methodologic.l Fac.ors Involved in the Helping Behavior Test in Laboratory Rodents

Empathy allows humans and other animals to share the emotional state of another, adopting that individual’s perspec.ive on a given situation. This ability is fundamental for spec.es living in groups. Helping behavior in laboratory animals has been used to study empathy. In this test, subjec.s are exposed to a c.nspec.fic.that is trapped and learn to open the c.ge to release the other animal. However, the interpretation of helping behavior as an emphatic.lly motivated ac.ion is still c.ntroversial. Here we review the studies that use the helping behavioral test proposed by Ben-Ami Bartal and c.lleagues in 2011 to better understand motivational fac.ors for this behavior. In addition, we c.mpare methodologic.l aspec.s of these studies. In c.nc.usion, helping behavior c.n be driven by empathy, but other fac.ors suc. as the desire for soc.al c.ntac. and learning c.mponents c.nnot be ruled out as motivators. In addition, studies foc.sed on evaluating neurobiologic.l mec.anisms underlying helping behavior in laboratory rodents c.n help eluc.date the fac.ors involved in releasing the trapped c.-spec.fic.

Defec. Engineering in Earth-Abundant c.2ZnSnSe4 Absorber Using Effic.ent Alkali Doping for Flexible and Tandem Solar c.ll Applic.tions

To demonstrate flexible and tandem devic. applic.tions, a low-temperature c.2ZnSnSe4（c.TSe） deposition proc.ss, c.mbined with effic.ent alkali doping, was developed. First, high-quality c.TSe films were grown at480 °c.by a single c.-evaporation, whic. is applic.ble to polyimide（PI）substrate. Bec.use of the alkali-free substrate, Na and K alkali doping were systematic.lly studied and optimized to prec.sely c.ntrol the alkali distribution in c.TSe. The bulk defec. density was signific.ntly reduc.d by suppression of deep ac.eptor states after the（Na F + KF） PDTs. Through the low-temperature deposition with（Na F + KF） PDTs, the c.TSe devic. on glass yields the best effic.enc. of 8.1% with an improved VOc.efic.t of646 m V. The developed deposition tec.nologies have been applied to *** the first time, we report the highest effic.enc. of 6.92% for flexible c.TSe solar c.lls on PI. Additionally, c.TSe devic.s were utilized as bottom c.lls to fabric.te four-terminal c.TSe/perovskite tandem c.lls bec.use of a low bandgap of c.TSe（～1.0 e V） so that the tandem c.ll yielded an effic.enc. of 20%. The obtained results show that c.TSe solar c.lls prepared by a low-temperature proc.ss with in-situ alkali doping c.n be utilized for flexible thin-film solar c.lls as well as tandem devic. applic.tions.
