It is a multifunctional proce.s that involve. se.e.al ce.l type., cytokine., che.okine. and growth factors le.ding to a disruption of home.static me.hanisms that maintain the.live. e.osyste.. In spite.of many studie. re.arding the.de.e.opme.t of fibrosis, the.unde.standing of the.pathoge.e.is re.ains obscure. The.he.atic tissue.re.ode.ing proce.s is highly comple., re.ulting from the.balance.be.we.n collage. de.radation and synthe.is. Among the.many me.iators that take.part in this proce.s, the.compone.ts of the.Re.in angiote.sin syste. （RAS） have.progre.sive.y assume. an important role. Angiote.sin （Ang） II acts as a profibrotic me.iator and Ang-（1-7）, the.ne.ly re.ognize. RAS compone.t, appe.rs to e.e.t a counte.-re.ulatory role.in live. tissue. AIM:To inve.tigate.the.association be.we.n human papillomavirus(HPV)and e.ophage.l squamous ce.l carcinoma(e.CC)in southe.n ***:We.studie. 189 e.ophage.l sample. from125 patie.ts from thre. diffe.e.t groups:(1)102 biopsie. from 51 patie.ts with e.CC,with one.sample.from the.tumor and anothe. from normal e.ophage.l mucosa distant from the.tumor;(2)50 e.ophage.l biopsie. from 37 patie.ts with a pre.ious diagnosis of he.d and ne.k squamous ce.l carcinoma(HNSCC);and(3)37 biopsie. from e.ophage.l mucosa with normal appe.rance.from 37 dyspe.tic patie.ts,not e.pose. to smoking or alcohol ***-polyme.ase.chain re.ction(PCR)with the.MY09/11 and GP5/6 L1prime.s was use. to de.e.t HPV L1 in sample. fixe. in formalin and store. in paraffin *** PCR re.ctions we.e.pe.forme. with a positive.control(ce.vicovaginal sample.),with a ne.ative.control(Human Ge.omic DNA)and with a blank re.ction containing all re.ge.ts e.ce.t *** took e.tre.e.care.to pre.e.t DNA contamination in sample.colle.tion,proce.sing,and ***:The.histological biopsie. confirme. the.diagnosis of e.CC in 52 sample.(51 from e.CC group and 1 from the.HNSCC group)and classifie. as we.l diffe.e.tiate.(12/52,23.1%),mode.ate.y diffe.e.tiate.(27/52,51.9%)or poorly diffe.e.tiate.(7/52,13.5%).one.hundre. twe.ty-e.ght e.ophage.l biopsie. we.e.conside.e. normal(51 from the.e.CC group,42 from the.HNSCC group and 35 from dyspe.tic patie.ts).Nine.had e.ophagitis(7 from the.HNSCC and 2 from dyspe.tic patie.ts).of a total of 189 sample.,only 6 sample. had insufficie.t mate.ial for PCR analysis:1 from mucosa distant from the.tumor in a patie.t with e.CC,3from patie.ts with HNSCC and 2 from patie.ts without *** 183 sample.(96.8%)GAPDH,G3PDH and/orβ-globin we.e.amplifie.,thus indicating the.ade.uacy of the.DNA in those.*** DNA was ne.ative.in all the.183 sample. te.te.:52 with e.CC,9 with e.ophagitis and 122 with normal e.ophage.l ***:The.e.was no e.ide.ce.of HP
