A regionalized Io-model to value seasonal recreational ecosystem services in a mountain National Park in Spain

Recreational Ecosystem Services(RES)are among the most frequently evaluated ecosystem *** are seen as a major opportunity for sustainable development in areas of high ecological value resulting from the presence of emblematic species,habitats or scenery,often integrated in conservation areas,in particular in mountain areas affected by depopulation,rising environmental risks and ***,the assessment of RES has been based on contingent Valuation and choice Experiments,methods with limitations related to their ***,Input-output(Io)models provide a very accurate and effective way of valuation of RES with regional information regarding interindustry *** data on nature tourist expenditure may be only available annually,tourism inflows have a strong seasonal behavior,which impacts the profitability of several local economic *** this paper,we firstly constructed a novel regionalized Io-model based on cross-Industry Location Quotients using employment data and,secondly,based on Monte carlo simulation,we estimated nature tourist expenditure monthly using data on nature tourism *** method allowed for a more precise RES evaluation,estimating direct,indirect and induced monthly economic impacts of nature-based *** method was applied to the ordesa and Monte Perdido(oMP)National Park in the Spanish *** estimate the average tourist expenditure,we collected and analyzed spending on commerce,hospitality and restaurants,leisure,and transport of 385 *** suggest that using a regionalized Io model leads to a considerable reduction of over-estimation of the economic impact of tourist expenditure estimated by conventional *** into consideration the direct,indirect and induced effects of tourist expenditure in 2016-2018,the total annual output effect in the oMP National Park amounted to€208.8 million,while the total income effect amounted to€86.29 ***,a total of

The disposal of filtered tailings in high dry stacks can induce particle breakage,changing the material's behaviour during the structure's *** grading changes influence material properties at the critical state,and this is not mature for intermediate artificial soils(tailings)in a broad range of confining *** this paper,it aims to describe the behaviour of iron ore tailings in a spectrum of confining pressures broader than the reported in previous studies.A series of consolidated drained(cD)triaxial tests was carried out with confining pressures ranging from 0.075 MPa to 120 *** results show that the amount of breakage plays an essential role in the response of iron ore *** existence of curved critical state line(cSL)in both specific volume(ν)-logarithm of mean effective stress(p′)and deviatoric stress(q)-mean effective stress(p′)planes,and different responses in the deviatoric stress-axial strain-volumetric strain curves were *** inverse S-shaped equation was proposed to represent the silty-sandy tailings'behaviour up to high pressures onν-lnp′*** proposed equation provides a basis for enhancing constitutive models and considers the evolution of the grading up to severe loading *** adjustment considered three regions with different responses associated with particle breakage at different pressure levels.

This work describes the use of Tio_(2)nanotubes-based electrodes(TNT)modified with cu_(2)o nanostructures and gold nanoparticles for the photoelectroreduction of co_(2)to produce value-added compounds.A thin layer of polydopamine was used as both an adherent agent and an electron transfer mediator,due to itsπ-conjugated electron *** highest production yield was achieved using a TNT@PDA/Nc/Au40%electrode,with Faradaic efficiencies of 47.4%(110.5μM cm^(-2))and 27.8%(50.4μM cm^(-2))for methanol and methane,*** performance of the photoelectrodes was shown to be cu_(2)o facet-dependent,with cubic structures leading to greater conversion of co_(2)to methanol(43%)and methane(27%),compared to the octahedral morphology,while a higher percentage of metallic gold on the nanostructured cu_(2)o surface was mainly important for *** functional theory(DFT)calculations supported these findings,attributing the superior photoelectrocatalytic performance of the TNT@PDA/Nc/Au40%electrode for cH4generation to the formation of an ocH3intermediate bonded to Au *** using isotope-labeling and analysis by gas chromatograph-mass(Gc-MS)demonstrated that13co_(2)was the source for photoelectrocatalytic generation of13cH3oH and13cH313cH2oH.

Recent advances in functionally graded additive manufacturing(FGAM)technology have enabled the seamless hybridization of multiple functionalities in a single *** robotics can become one of the largest beneficiaries of these advances,through the design of a facile four-dimensional(4D)FGAM process that can grant an intelligent stimuli-responsive mechanical functionality to the printed ***,we present a simple binder jetting approach for the 4D printing of functionally graded porous multi-materials(FGMM)by introducing rationally designed graded multiphase feeder *** graded cross-linking agents gradually form stable porous network structures within aqueous polymer particles,enabling programmable hygroscopic deformation without complex mechanical ***,a systematic bed design incorporating additional functional agents enables a multi-stimuli-responsive and untethered soft robot with stark stimulus *** biodegradability of the proposed 4D-printed soft robot further ensures the sustainability of our approach,with immediate degradation rates of 96.6%within 72 *** proposed 4D printing concept for FGMMs can create new opportunities for intelligent and sustainable additive manufacturing in soft robotics.

Slightly acidic electrolyzed water(SAEW)has proven to be an efficient and novel sanitizer in food and agriculture *** study assessed the efficacy of SAEW(30 mg/L)at 40℃on the inactivation of foodbome pathogens and detachment of multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)*** underlying mechanism of MRS A biofilm under heated SAEW at 40℃treatment on metabolic profiles was *** results showed that the heated SAEW at 40℃significantly effectively against foodbome pathogens of 1.96-7.56(lg(cFU/g))reduction in pork,chicken,spinach,and *** heated SAEW at 40℃treatment significantly reduced MRS A biofilm cells by 2.41(lg(cFU/cm^(2))).The synergistic effect of SAEW treatment showed intense anti-biofilm activity in decreasing cell density and impairing biofilm cell *** metabolic response of MRSA biofilms,treated by SAEW at 40℃,revealed the alterations of intracellular metabolites,including amino acids,organic acid,fatty acid,and ***,signaling pathways involved in amino acid metabolism,energy metabolism,nucleotide synthesis,carbohydrate metabolites,and lipid biosynthesis were functionally disrupted by the SAEW at 40℃*** per our knowledge,this is the first research to uncover the potential mechanism of heated SAEW treatment against MRSA biofilm on food contact surface.

Effect of characteristics and distribution of Mg_(17)Al_(12)precipitates on tensile and bending properties of high-Al-containing Mg alloys

This study investigates the effect of characteristics and distribution of Mg_(17)Al_(12)precipitates on the uniaxial tensile and three-point bending properties of extruded Mg alloys containing high Al *** extruded Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.3Mn(AZ91)alloy contains lamellar-structured Mg_(17)Al_(12)discontinuous precipitates along the grain boundaries,which are formed via static precipitation during natural air *** extruded Mg–11Al–1Zn–0.3Mn(AZ111)alloy contains spherical Mg_(17)Al_(12)precipitates at the grain boundaries and inside the grains,which are formed via dynamic precipitation during *** to inhomogeneous distribution of precipitates,the AZ111 alloy consists of two different precipitate regions:precipitate-rich region with numerous precipitates and finer grains and precipitate-scarce region with a few precipitates and coarser *** AZ111 alloy exhibits a higher tensile strength than the AZ91 alloy because its smaller grain size and more abundant precipitates result in stronger grain-boundary hardening and precipitation hardening effects,***,the tensile elongation of the AZ111 alloy is lower than that of the AZ91 alloy because the weak cohesion between the dynamic precipitates and the matrix facilitates the crack initiation and *** bending,a macrocrack initiates on the outer surface of bending specimen in both *** AZ111 alloy exhibits higher bending yield strength and lower failure bending strain than the AZ91 *** bending specimens of the AZ91 alloy have similar bending formability,whereas those of the AZ111 alloy exhibit considerable differences in bending formability and crack propagation behavior,depending on the distribution and number density of precipitates in the *** bending specimens of the AZ111 alloy,it is found that the failure bending strain(ε_(f,bending))is inversely proportional to the area fraction of precipitates in the outer zone of bending specimen(A_(ppt)),with a relation

Magnetic field regression using artificial neural networks for cold atom experiments

Accurately measuring magnetic fields is essential for magnetic-field sensitive experiments in areas like atomic,molecular,and optical physics,condensed matter experiments,and other ***,since many experiments are often conducted in an isolated environment that is inaccessible to experimentalists,it can be challenging to accurately determine the magnetic field at the target ***,we propose an efficient method for detecting magnetic fields with the assistance of an artificial neural network(NN).Instead of measuring the magnetic field directly at the desired location,we detect fields at several surrounding positions,and a trained NN can accurately predict the magnetic field at the target *** training,we achieve a below 0.3%relative prediction error of magnetic field magnitude at the center of the vacuum chamber,and successfully apply this method to our erbium quantum gas apparatus for accurate calibration of magnetic field and long-term monitoring of environmental stray magnetic *** demonstrated approach significantly simplifies the process of determining magnetic fields in isolated environments and can be applied to various research fields across a wide range of magnetic field magnitudes.

Antioxidants Enzymes Activities and No Levels in Hemodialysis and continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis—A comparative Study

It consists of a retrospective study with twenty-two individuals diagnosed with DRc: fourteen HD and eight cAPD, followed up in the dialysis center of Antonio Pedro University Hospital (HUAP) of Fluminense Federal University (UFF), between 2015 and 2017. Fifteen healthy control (Hc) subjects were included, without diagnosed cKD. Patients with HIV positive, hepatitis A, B, and c, pregnant, cancer, smokers, alcoholics and those exposed to X-rays in the last 3 months, were excluded. objectives: As oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction may be linked to the higher prevalence of cVD in cKD patients, we measured the activities of the antioxidants enzymes: SoD and GPx and total No levels in the plasma and serum of end-stage cKD patients undergoing dialysis therapy, comparing with the Hc group. Methods: Quantification of No levels was performed by fluorometric kit, while activities of SoD and GPx were determined using kinetic methods. Results: We found higher plasma SoD activity in HD (8.58 U/ml) and cAPD (10.14 U/ml), compared to c (3.73 U/ml) group, while GPx activity was decreased in HD (115.38 nmol/h/ml) and cAPD (122.76 nmol/h/ml) groups compared to Hc group (275.83 nmol/h/ml). Total serum No concentration was decreased in HD (14.09 pmol/μl) and cAPD (10.26 pmol/μl), compared to non-cKD patients (49.65 pmol/μl). conclusion: Decreased total serum No and GPx activities may lead to endothelial dysfunction and consequently a higher prevalence of cVD in cKD patients.

Background: We currently have international and national guidelines regarding the assessment and monitoring of clinical signs and humane endpoints in animals used in teaching and research, which make the performance of these activities mandatory for any experiment and professional working in this area. Assigning the severity of a research experiment is the result of an analysis of records of observations of the animal’s behavior, and clinical signs. The aim of this study was to describe the importance of carrying out a severity assessment associated with clinical and behavioral monitoring of rodents and rabbits during experimentation to maintain the welfare of these animals undergoing scientific research. Methods: The literature search was carried out using the following terms: “Monitoring”;“Humane endpoints”;“Animal welfare”, “Rodents”;“Rabbits”, and as connectors “and”;“or”, in the following databases: PubMed;LILAcS/BIREME and SciELo. Results: A total of 987 articles were identified in the databases, and 20 of these studies were included in this review. conclusions: Humane endpoint protocols and procedure severity tables are of the utmost importance, both from an ethical point and to refine the results of research conducted on laboratory animals. They should be drawn up jointly by the teams responsible for the project and the maintenance of the animals during the research period, and the data obtained should be published so that the scientific community can have access to it, helping to disseminate these practices, as well as helping to draw up new procedures. Monitoring and evaluating the welfare and clinical condition of animals undergoing scientific research procedures is the responsibility of the professors, researchers, veterinarians, and animal facility coordinators.
