In this work,nine different types of edible coating based on pectin,cellulose nanocrystals,glycerol,and essential oil of lemongrass were prepared and used to coat strawberries with a film formed directly on the surface of the coated *** effects of the different edible coatings on refrigerated fruits in terms of weight loss,titratable acidity,total soluble solids,pH,and anthocyanin content was evaluated after 2 days,4 days,6 days,and 8 days of *** of the edible coatings reduced the weight loss of the coated strawberries and the anthocyanin *** total soluble solids content of or uncoated fruit increase more markedly than that of coated *** contrast,pH was maintained for both coated and uncoated *** edible coatings were effective in minimizing of the weight loss,without worsening the physical chemistry *** treatments T5 and T9 presented the best results.

The cultivation of cotton is a relevant socioeconomic activity in the Brazilian agricultural scenario. In the Brazilian Northeast, however, production is limited by low rainfall, requiring water supplementation, a problem for the cotton cultivation practiced in the semi-arid region, due to the presence of saline ions in several water sources, from where the water is used for irrigation. It is necessary to identify cultivars that better tolerate saline stress in order to provide subsidies for their cultivation under such conditions. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the tolerance of cotton cultivars to salinity. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, belonging to the Natural Resource Technology Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus I, Campina Grande, Brazil, in a completely randomized design in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme, with four replications, totaling 40 experimental units (BRS 368 RF and BRS SAFIRA) submitted to five saline levels (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 and 7.5 dS·mˉ1). Irrigation with water saline of EC from 1.5 dS·mˉ1 affects adversely the growth of cotton cultivars, causing reductions in plant height, stem diameter, leaf area and number of leaves. Saline stress reduced the levels of the photosynthetic pigments of the cotton plants studied.

The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan in China in December 2019, causing severe pneumonia and deaths, soon in March 2020, it reached pandemic level, affecting several countries including Brazil. The disease was named CoVID-19, with characteristics of most infected having mild and moderate symptoms and a part severe symptom. The disease has already reached 158 ethnic groups, which have high vulnerability and limited access to health services. The objective is to investigate the clinical and spatial characteristics of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome of CoVID-19 in the indigenous peoples of Brazil. It is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, analytical ecological study, based on data from the openDataSUS platform from 01/01/2020 to 31/08/2020. Profile variables, signs and symptoms and risk factors/comorbidities. The data were analyzed by Bioestat 5.3. There were 1,207 cases and 470 deaths. Profile: male gender (59.48%) means age 53 years. Signs and symptoms: fever (74.23%), cough (77.71%), sore throat (35.62%), dyspnea (69.34%), respiratory discomfort (62.80%), o2 saturation ociated with mortality: dyspnea (80.0%) and o2 saturation ors and comorbidities (45.89%) were associated with deaths (54.04%). About comorbidities, chronic cardiovascular diseases represented (18.97%) and Diabetes Mellitus (18.97%), and associated with deaths: Chronic Cardiovascular Disease (24.46%). Being admitted to the ICU has a risk of death in (oR-3.96- ollowed by not being vaccinated against influenza (oR-1.85- olicies of Brazil should be directed to control the dissemination of CoVID-19 in this population, that CoVID-19 evolves in the same intensity, however, the indigenous have vulnerabilities that can increase the impact of the pandemic in this population.

Although the coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)pandemic has reached all over the world population,it has demonstrated a heterogeneous impact on different *** most vulnerable communities which coexist daily with the social inequalities like low access to hygiene and personal protection products,crowded residences,and higher levels of chronic diseases have a higher risk of contact and the spread of infection,beyond unfavorable clinical *** elevation of the risk of infection exposure can be related to gender due to the presence of a larger contingent of women in essential services,as well as frontline and cleaning professionals who regardless of gender have the greatest exposure to the *** exposures can contribute to the development of fear of contaminating themselves or their family members associated also with the work stress,both of which are related to the emergence of mental disturbances in these ***,conditions of unsanitary living and low socioeconomic status,populations at war,pre-existing social barriers,and ethnicity have contributed to more impact of the pandemic both in the exposure to the virus and access to health services,CoVID-19 management,and management of other *** the same time,factors such as the closing of non-essential services,the loss of jobs,and the increase in household spending aggravated the social vulnerabilities and impacted the family ***,the CoVID-19 pandemic contributed still more to the impact on women's health since it propitiated a favorable environment for increasing domestic violence rates,through the segregation of women from social life,and increasing the time of the victims with their aggressors.

objective: To characterize the scientific production related to the impact of urinary incontinence on quality of life of pregnant women. Method: An integrative review carried out from September 2014 to May 2015. The search was conducted in six databases, and a final sample of seventeen publications was presented. The data were presented in tables. Results: Incontinence related factors are: Being older, second pregnancy, multiparity, constipation, smoking, and obesity. Stress incontinence is the most occurring in pregnant women, causing an adverse impact on quality of life. Discussion: It is for health professionals who try to create effective coping strategies for minimizing consequences generated by the accidental loss of urine. Conclusion: Urinary incontinence affects the mother’s life, resulting in social, behavioral, physical and emotional harm, taking this woman to be excluded from society and feel insecure about their health.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a major public health problem that carries a high social and economic burden. Its diagnosis is unknown in half of individuals who have the disease. The diagnosis of the risk factors should be done in the beginning, since changes in lifestyle and hyperglycemic correction may delay the appearance of the disease and its complications. In this context, screening has been considered an important tool for an early detection of diabetes in asymptomatic adults. objective: The objective is to track diabetes in people from BH, comparing genders. Patients and methods: People were interviewed with questions concerning the risk factors associated with the development of diabetes. According to the risk factors present, they were classified as non-diabetic [ND], pre-diabetic [PD] or diabetic [DM]. Statistical analyses were performed considering p ≤ 0.05 as significant. Results: 1264 individuals participated (5.5% DM, 6.5% PD, 88.0% ND). When grouped, PD and DM males were more prevalent than PD and DM females. Those in the DM group had higher blood pressure, age, glycaemia, number of past smokers, first-degree relatives with diabetes than either PD or ND. Both males and females in DM and PD groups had a higher waist circumference than did either ND males or females. ND men had a higher intake of fried food and smoked more in the past than ND women. Both ND and PD males had higher blood pressure than women from the same groups. Conclusion: Screening for diabetes is very important for an early diagnosis and to avoid future complications in patients. It’s possible to infer that women are more conscientious when it comes to taking care of themselves than men.

This article discusses one experienced by students and preceptors of Programs Pro-Pet-Health and Health of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte/Faculty of Health Sciences of Trairí in the Reference Center for Social Assistance (CRAS) in the municipality of experience Santa Cruz/RN, with a view to the relationship between preventive health activities and social assistance. The proposed work of Pro-Pet in the assistance unit sought to unravel the lifestyle of the target audience in order to know the risk factors and suggest the adoption of health measures for disease prevention. Work to guide the educational process for health promotion with socioeconomic and cultural contextualization built on scientific papers surveyed in Lilacs and Scielo data was used. on average, 12 women aged between 35 and 60 years participated in the group. Eight group sessions occurred in the period from March to May 2014. Regarding work methodologies, we used dynamic integration and self-knowledge;dialogued lectures;lectures;reports of experiences;thematic workshops;educational videos;wheels conversation complemented by the use of texts and poems;as well as application of the checklist in conducting health and anthropometry. The experience helped identify the characteristics of the group and plan understandable and meaningful guidance for women, facilitating the understanding of the importance of self-care in preventing disease.

Dietary Calcium and overweight in Preschoolers: Is There an Association?

Background: Several observational and experimental studies in humans and animals have noted an inverse relationship between calcium intake, particularly dairy products, and body weight and adiposity. However, these effects have not been consistently observed. objective: To evaluate the relationship between calcium intake and anthropometric measures and adiposity in preschoolers. Methods: Cross-sectional study nested in a cohort born of 232 preschoolers from Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The preschoolers underwent anthropometric (body mass index and waist circumference), adiposity (triceps and subscapular skinfold) and dietary (three 24-hour dietary recalls) evaluations. The association between calcium intake, adiposity and anthropometric measurements was performed using a logistic regression analysis. Results: The prevalence of overweight (overweight and obesity) among preschoolers was 17.24%. The average calcium intake was 480.51 mg/day. only 7.7% of children reached their daily recommended intake value (800 mg/day), and calcium intake was equally low for both groups studied (p = 0.74). This study did not find a relationship between calcium intake and overweight or adiposity. Conclusions: Calcium intake was far below the recommendations for the age group studied, and no was identified association between low calcium intake and overweight or adiposity.

The “cachaça” is currently one of the fastest growing agro-industrial industries in the country as the drink considered as a symbol of Brazilian nationality. This study aimed to quantify the phenolic compounds, evaluate the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of different samples of aged “cachaça”. The physic-chemical analysis was performed at the Brandy Quality Laboratory of the Federal University of Lavras, and the determination of phenolic compounds was performed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). The antimicrobial activity evaluation was held at the Food Mycology Laboratory through the cavity agar diffusion technique and by steam using the micro-organisms Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis, Listeria monocytogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH radical sequestering method. The values obtained for the phenolic compounds ranged from 0.41 to 9.69 mg/L, observing the predominance of syringaldehyde, gallic acid and vanillic acid. The phenolic extracts showed a satisfactory antibacterial activity for both Gram-negative and Gram-positive but did not show inhibition against the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antioxidant activity was evidenced by the DPPH test for cachaças tested and the “cachaça” aged in oak barrel showed the highest activity, followed by “cachaça” aged in jequitibá, amburana and balm barrels.
