An Integrated Analysis on the synergistic Reduction of Carbon and Pollution Emissions from China’s Iron and steel Industry

Decarbonization and decontamination of the iron and steel industry(IsI),which contributes up to 15%to anthropogenic CO_(2) emissions(or carbon emissions)and significant proportions of air and water pollutant emissions in China,are challenged by the huge demand for *** and pollutants often share common emission sources,indicating that emission reduction could be achieved ***,we explored the inherent potential of measures to adjust feedstock composition and technological structure and to control the size of the IsI to achieve carbon emission reduction(CER)and pollution emission reduction(PER).We investigated five typical pollutants in this study,namely,petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants and chemical oxygen demand in wastewater,particulate matter,sO_(2),and NO_(x) in off gases,and examined synergies between CER and PER by employing cross elasticity for the period between 2022 and *** results suggest that a reduction of 8.7%-11.7%in carbon emissions and 20%-31%in pollution emissions(except for particulate matter emissions)could be achieved by 2025 under a high steel scrap ratio(ssR)***,the ssR and electric arc furnace(EAF)ratio serve critical roles in enhancing synergies between CER and PER(which vary with the type of pollutant).However,subject to a limited volume of steel scrap,a focused increase in the EAF ratio with neglection of the available supply of steel scrap to EAF facilities would lead to an increase carbon and pollution *** CER can be achieved through ssR and EAF ratio optimization,only when the crude steel production growth rate remains below 2.2%can these optimization measures maintain the emissions in 2030 at a similar level to that in ***,the synergistic effects between PER and CER should be considered when formulating a development route for the IsI in the future.

Graphene nanoplates(GNPs)-reinforced magnesium matrix composites have been attracted great ***,knowledge is lack for the hot deformation behavior of GNP-reinforced magnesium(GNPs/Mg)*** this study,the fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite was fabricated by powder metallurgy process followed by *** hot deformation behavior,microstructure evolution and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)mechanism of fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite were investigated by hot compression test and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBsD).The hot compression tests of the composite were conducted at temperatures between 423 and 573 K with the strain rates from 0.001 to 1 s^(-1).The strain compensated power law equation was established to describe the hot deformation behavior of the *** stress exponent and activation energy of the composite are 7.76 and 83.23 kJ/mol,respectively,suggesting that the deformation mechanism is grain boundary slip controlled dislocation climb *** abnormally high stress exponent and activation energy are unattainable in the composite due to the fine grain size of the composites and the absence of Zener pinning and Orowan effects of GNPs *** grain size increases with the decrease in Zener-Hollomn(Z)parameter,which can be well fitted by power-law *** the increase in grain size and decrease in Z parameter,the geometrically necessary dislocation density decreases,which shows the approximately power-law relationship.A random and weak texture was formed after hot *** discontinuous dynamic recrystallization and continuous dynamic recrystallization mechanism dominated the DRX behavior at 473 K/0.001 s^(-1) and 573 K/0.001 s^(-1),respectively.

Alzheimer's disease(AD) has been conceptualized as a syndrome of brain network dysfunction. Recent imaging connectomics studies have provided unprecedented opportunities to map structural and functional brain networks in AD. By reviewing molecular, imaging, and computational modeling studies, we have shown that highly connected brain hubs are primarily distributed in the medial and lateral prefrontal, parietal, and temporal regions in healthy individuals and that the hubs are selectively and severely affected in AD as manifested by increased amyloid-beta deposition and regional atrophy,hypo-metabolism, and connectivity dysfunction. Furthermore, AD-related hub degeneration depends on the imaging modality with the most notable degeneration in the medial temporal hubs for morphological covariance networks, the prefrontal hubs for structural white matter networks, and in the medial parietal hubs for functional networks. Finally, the AD-related hub degeneration shows metabolic,molecular, and genetic correlates. Collectively, we conclude that the brain-network-hub-degeneration framework is promis.ng to elucidate the biological mechanisms of network dysfunction in AD, which provides valuable information on potential diagnostic biomarkers and promis.ng therapeutic targets for the disease.

Lithium-sulfur(Li-s)batteries with high theoretical capacity and energy density need to solve problems such as the high decomposition energy barrier of Li_(2)s and large volume change of sulfur in the charging process caused by the shuttle effect before practical ***,a green synthesis method is used to prepare polyacrylic acid(PAA)superabsorbent material,and then the pyrolyzed PAA(P/PAA)material is obtained as the positive electrode of Li-s *** functional calculation reveals that the oxygen self-doping pyrolyzed polyacrylic acid(P/PAA)delivered stronger binding energy toward Li2s species in carbonyl C=O than that of graphite powder(GP)which are-1.58 eV and-1.02 eV,*** with the distribution of relaxation time analysis and the in-situ electrochemical impedance approach,it is further demonstrated that the designed P/PAA as sulfur host plays a physical/chemical adsorption dual function in maintaining the stability and rate performance of *** an initial discharge capacity of 1258 mAh/g at 0.1 C and a minimal capacity decline of 0.05%per cycle even after 800 cycles at 0.5 C,the produced cathode demonstrated outstanding electrochemical *** average Coulombic efficiency is nearly 100%.The P/PAA electrodes may typically retain 96%of their capacity while declining on average only 0.033%per cycle after 130 cycles at 3 *** effort provides a new method for the future development of heteroatomic self-doping superabsorbent with promis.ng adsorption properties for polysulfides as cathode materials of Li-s batteries.

This is the first study to report the co-occurrence of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAss),heavy metals,and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and their impacts on the native microbial consortium in soil due to the long-term *** PFAss,heavy metals,and PAHs were detected in soil samples collected at 2–6 m below the ground surface at different sampling locations in a steel-making *** total concentrations of PFAss varied from 6.55 to 19.79 ng g^(-1),with perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOs),perfluorobutane sulfonate,and 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate(alternative of PFOs)being the predominant *** concentrations of arsenic,cadmium,and lead were detected in the ranges of 4.40–1270.00,0.01–8.67,and 18.00–647.00 mg kg^(-1),respectively,and the concentration of total PAHs was detected in the range of 1.02–131.60 mg kg^(-1).The long-term exposure to mixed contaminants of PFAss,heavy metals,and PAHs led to lower richness and diversity of microbial communities in *** soil bacterial communities were mainly composed of Pseudomonas,norank_p_GAL15,Leptothrix,norank_o_Rokubacteriales,and *** between soil environmental factors and microbial communities indicated that cation exchange capacity and total phosphorus were two key factors in shaping the composition of native microbial ***,Arthrobacter,Leptothrix,and sphingobium were found to be significantly positively correlated with PFAs concentrations,indicating that these genera could tolerate the stress exerted by PFAss,along with the stress imposed due to the presence of heavy metals or/and PAHs.

Wide-bandgap(WBG)perovskite solar cells(PsCs)play a fundamental role in perovskite-based tandem solar ***,the efficiency of WBG PsCs is limited by significant open-circuit voltage losses,which are primarily caused by surface *** this study,we present a novel method for modifying surfaces us.ng the multifunctional s-ethylisothiourea hydrobromide(sEBr),which can passivate both Pb^(-1)and FA^(-1)terminated surfaces,Moreover,the sEBr upshifted the Fermi level at the perovskite interface,thereby promoting carrier *** proposed method was effective for both 1.67 and 1.77 eV WBG PsCs,achieving power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of 22.47%and 19.90%,respectively,with V_(OC)values of 1.28 and 1.33 V,along with improved film and device *** this advancement,we were able to fabricate monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells with a champion PCE of 27.10%,This research offers valuable insights for passivating the surface trap states of WBG perovskite through rational multifunctional molecular engineering.
