Hot Deformation Behavior and Microstructures Evolution of GNP-Reinforced Fine-Grained Mg Composites

Graphene nanoplates(GNPs)-reinforced magnesium matrix composites have been attracted great attention.However,knowledge is lack for the hot deformation behavior of GNP-reinforced magnesium(GNPs/Mg)composite.In this study,the fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite was fabricated by powder metallurgy process followed by extrusion.The hot deformation behavior,microstructure evolution and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)mechanism of fine-grained GNPs/Mg composite were investigated by hot compression test and electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD).The hot compression tests of the composite were conducted at temperatures between 423 and 573 K with the strain rates from 0.001 to 1 s^(-1).The strain compensated power law equation was established to describe the hot deformation behavior of the composites.The stress exponent and activation energy of the composite are 7.76 and 83.23 kJ/mol,respectively,suggesting that the deformation mechanism is grain boundary slip controlled dislocation climb creep.The abnormally high stress exponent and activation energy are unattainable in the composite due to the fine grain size of the composites and the absence of Zener pinning and Orowan effects of GNPs reinforcement.The grain size increases with the decrease in Zener-Hollomn(Z)parameter,which can be well fitted by power-law relationship.With the increase in grain size and decrease in Z parameter,the geometrically necessary dislocation density decreases,which shows the approximately power-law relationship.A random and weak texture was formed after hot compression.The discontinuous dynamic recrystallization and continuous dynamic recrystallization mechanism dominated the DRX behavior at 473 K/0.001 s^(-1) and 573 K/0.001 s^(-1),respectively.

Complementary multicolor electrochromic devices with excellent stability based on porous tin oxide nanosheet scaffold

Electrochromic devices(ECDs)have been extensively investigated as promising candidates in broad cutting-edge applications,such as smart windows,electronic labels,adaptive camouflage,etc.However,they have suffered from either inadequate color variations or poor cycling stability for a long time.Herein,we developed a general strategy to boost the cyclic stability and enrich the color variations of ECDs by scrupulous design of the composition and nanostructure of electrodes,in which porous tin oxide(SnO_(2))nanosheets serve as the scaffold and typical metal oxides or conducting polymers as the active electrochromic materials.Various electrochromic composite materials,including polyaniline(PANI)@SnO_(2),V2O5@SnO_(2),and WO_(3)@SnO_(2) heterostructured nanoarrays were prepared by the facile wet-chemical method.These composite electrodes exhibit remarkable electrochromic performances,e.g.,superior cycling stability(more than 2000 cycles),rich color variations(more than 5 colors for PANI@SnO_(2)),and enlarged optical modulation.These excellent performances account for the heterogenous porous nanoarrays,which not only facilitate the intercalation/extraction of ions but also relieve the stress generated during the electrochemical process.In addition,diverse prototypes of complementary multicolor ECD with excellent cycling stability(over thousands of cycles)and rich color variations(8 colors)were realized for the first time.We believe that our work put forward a general strategy for developing high-quality multicolor complementary electrochromic devices.

Role of phosphorus on the biogeochemical behavior of cadmium in the contaminated soil under leaching and pot experiments

Phosphorus(P)is involved in various biochemical reactions in plant growth,so it is beneficial to plants growing in soils contaminated by metals,including cadmium(Cd).However,few studies have reported on the mechanistic roles of P in mitigating Cd toxicity to ryegrass root,and especially in alleviating the disruption of the mitochondrial function of living cells.In this study,the physiological and biochemical mechanisms associated with ryegrass growth under various Cd and P treatments were investigated using leaching and pot systems.The concentration of Cd in soil leachates showed a significantly positive relationship with redox potential(P<0.05),but negative relationship(P<0.05)with leachate pH values and dissolved organic carbon(DOC),indicating that exogenous P addition(as H_(2)PO_(4)*)may decrease Cd leaching from contaminated soil.Compared to the control(without P addition),the cumulative Cd content was reduced by 53.3%and 64.5%in the soil leachate with exogenous P application(20 mg/L and 80 mg/L),respectively.Notably,application of P decreased the Cd concentrations in the symplastic fractions and increased the Cd concentrations in the apoplastic fractions in root tips,which may help to alleviate Cd stress to the protoplast.Moreover,exogenous P was found to play a positive role in mitochondrial function and Ca^(2+)variation in root cells under Cd stress,which provides novel insights into the mechanisms of exogenous P in alleviating plant Cd injury.

Formulation,characterization and in vivo and in vitro evaluation of aloe-emodin-loaded solid dispersions for dissolution enhancement

OBJECTIVE:To prepare aloe-emodin solid dispersion(AE-SD)and determine the metabolic process of AE and AE-SD in vivo.METHODS:AE-SD was prepared via solvent evaporation or solvent melting using PEG-6000 and PVP-K30 as carriers.Thermogravimetric analysis,X-ray diffraction spectroscopy,differential scanning calorimetry,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to identify the physical state of AESD.Optimal prescriptions were screened via the dissolution degree determination method.Using Phoenix software,AE suspension and AE-SD were subjected to a pharmacokinetic comparison study analyzing the alteration of behavior in vivo after AE was prepared as a solid dispersion.Acute toxicity was assessed in mice,and the physiological toxicity was used as the determination criterion for toxicity.RESULTS:AE-SD showed that AE existed in the carrier in an amorphous state.Compared with polyethylene glycol,polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)inhibited AE crystallization,causing the drug to transform from a dense crystalline state to an amorphous form and increasing the degree of drug dispersion.Therefore,it was more suitable as a carrier material for AE-SD.The addition of poloxamer(POL)was more beneficial to the stability of solid dispersions and could reduce the amount of PVP.The dissolution test confirmed that the optimal ratio of AE to the composite vector AE-PVP-POL was 1:2:2,and its dissolution effect was also optimal.Based on the pharmacokinetic comparison,the drug absorption was faster and quickly reached the peak of blood drug concentration in AE-SD compared to AE,the Cmax of AE-SD was greater than that of AE,and t1/2 and mean residence time of AE-SD were less than AE.The results showed that the drug metabolism in AE-SD was better,and the residence time was shorter.The toxicology study showed that both AE and AE-SD had no toxicity.CONCLUSION:This paper established that the solubility of the drug could be increased after preparing a solid dispersion,as demonstrated by in vitro dissolution experime

Differentially-grown cobalt regulators cooperatively involved in the tandem catalysis for high-yield production of second amines

One-pot tandem catalysis has been regarded as one of the most atomic economic ways to produce secondary amines,the important platform molecules for chemical synthesis and pharmaceutical manufacture,but it is facing serious issues in overall efficiency.New promotional effects are highly desired for boosting the activity and regulating the selectivity of conventional tandem catalysts.In this work,we report a high-performance tandem catalyst with maximized synergistic effect among each counterpart by preciously manipulating the spatial structure,which involves the active CeO_(2)/Pt component as kernel,the densely-coated N-doped C(NC)layer as selectivity controller,and the differentially-grown Co species as catalytic performance regulators.Through comprehensive investigations,the unique growth mechanism and the promotion effect of Co regulators are clarified.Specifically,the surface-landed Co clusters(Cocs)are crucial to selectivity by altering the adsorption configuration of benzylideneaniline intermediates.Meanwhile,the inner Co particles(Cops)are essential for activity by denoting their electrons to neighboring Ptps.Benefiting from the unique promotion effect,a remarkably-improved catalytic efficiency(100%nitrobenzene conversion with 94%N-benzylaniline selectivity)is achieved at a relatively low temperature of 80℃,which is much better than that of CeO_(2)/Pt(100%nitrobenzene conversion with 12%N-benzylaniline selectivity)and CeO_(2)/Pt/NC(35%nitrobenzene conversion with 94%benzylideneaniline selectivity).

A novel integrated microfluidic chip for on-demand electrostatic droplet charging and sorting

On-demand droplet sorting is extensively applied for the efficient manipulation and genome-wide analysis of individual cells.However,state-of-the-art microfluidic chips for droplet sorting still suffer from low sorting speeds,sample loss,and labor-intensive preparation procedures.Here,we demonstrate the development of a novel microfluidic chip that integrates droplet generation,on-demand electrostatic droplet charging,and high-throughput sorting.The charging electrode is a copper wire buried above the nozzle of the microchannel,and the deflecting electrode is the phosphate buffered saline in the microchannel,which greatly simplifies the structure and fabrication process of the chip.Moreover,this chip is capable of high-frequency droplet generation and sorting,with a frequency of 11.757 kHz in the drop state.The chip completes the selective charging process via electrostatic induction during droplet generation.On-demand charged microdroplets can arbitrarilymove to specific exit channels in a three-dimensional(3D)-deflected electric field,which can be controlled according to user requirements,and the flux of droplet deflection is thereby significantly enhanced.Furthermore,a lossless modification strategy is presented to improve the accuracy of droplet deflection or harvest rate from 97.49% to 99.38% by monitoring the frequency of droplet generation in real time and feeding it back to the charging signal.This chip has great potential for quantitative processing and analysis of single cells for elucidating cell-to-cell variations.

LncRNAs unraveling their sponge role in glioblastoma and potential therapeutic applications

Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM),the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor in adults,is the most malignant and still has no cure.However,the novel role of long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)in the pathogenesis of glioblastoma is attracting extensive attention.LncRNAs are transcribed RNA molecules over 200 nucleotides long that do not encode proteins.Unlike small non-coding RNAs,such as microRNAs(miRNAs),lncRNAs have more complex secondary and tertiary structures that enable them to interact with DNA,RNA,and proteins and perform multiple regulatory functions.LncRNAs act as molecular sponges,absorbing and sequestering other biomolecules,particularly miRNAs,thereby preventing these molecules from performing their normal functions.LncRNAs inﬂuence glioblastoma through gene expression regulation,molecular sponge capacity,epigenetic modulation,and signaling pathway interactions.In glioblastoma,a large number of lncRNAs have been found to be abnormally expressed,affecting tumor growth,invasion and resistance to treatment.Due to its regulatory role and disease-speciﬁc expression patterns,lncRNA has become a potential biomarker for glioblastoma and a promising new therapeutic target.This paper discusses the spongy role of lncRNAs in glioblastoma and its potential therapeutic applications,which will lay a foundation for our understanding of glioblastoma biology and the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in the future.

Multiple thermal events recorded in the Acasta Gneiss Complex:Evidence from in-situ dating of zircon, titanite, and apatite

In-situ dating of the zircons, titanites, and apatites in the rock fragments of approximately 1 cm2in size from the Acasta Gneiss Complex was performed using secondary ion mass spectrometry or laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry to provide constraints on the thermal history of the Acasta Gneiss Complex. The zircons in these rock fragments typically exhibit multiple age populations, reflecting the presence of inherited zircons or the post-crystallization process of zircon overgrowth. Combined with previous studies, our zircon dating results reveal multiple magmatic events that occurred in the Acasta Gneiss Complex, specifically at >3.96, ~3.72, and ~3.57 Ga, respectively. A titanite Pb-Pb isochron age of2911±22 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.5) for sample AY199 is identified, consistent with the timing of the latest Archean magmatism in the Acasta Gneiss Complex. The titanite U-Pb ages for samples AC478 and AY066 are 1932±270 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=2.3) and 1813±45 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=2.3), respectively. The apatites in sample P090803-C exhibit a Pb-Pb isochron age of 1833±26 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.4). The apatite U-Pb ages for samples AC478, AY199, and AY066 are 1850±20 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=1.3), 1827±100 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=6.3), and 1807±58 Ma(95% confidence level, MSWD=3.9), respectively. Titanites in samples AC478 and AY066, as well as the apatites in all four investigated samples, show a uniform age(Pb-Pb or U-Pb age) of ~1.9–1.8 Ga,indicating U-Pb system reset in these minerals due to the Wopmay orogeny and documenting that the peak temperature condition associated with the Wopmay orogeny exceeded the apatite U-Pb closure temperature and approached or exceeded that of titanite.

Selective core-shell doping enabling high performance 4.6 V-LiCoO2

Constructing robust surface and bulk structure is the prerequisite for realizing high performance high voltage LiCoO2（LCO）.Herein,we manage to synthesize a surface Mg-doping and bulk Al-doping coreshell structured LCO,which demonstrates excellent cycling performance.Half-cell shows 94.2% capacity retention after 100 cycles at 3.0-4.6 V（vs.Li/Li+） cycling,and no capacity decay after 300 cycles for fullcell test（3.0-4.55 V）.Based on comprehensive microanalysis and theoretical calculations,the degradation mechanisms and doping effects are systematically revealed.For the undoped LCO,high voltage cycling induces severe interfacial and bulk degradations,where cracks,stripe defects,fatigue H2 phase,and spinel phase are identified in grain bulk.For the doped LCO,Mg-doped surface shell can suppress the interfacial degradations,which not only stabilizes the surface structure by forming a thin rock-salt layer but also significantly improves the electronic conductivity,thus enabling superior rate performance.Bulk Al-doping can suppress the lattice "breathing" effect and the detrimental H3 to H1-3 phase transition,which minimizes the internal strain and defects growth,maintaining the layered structure after prolonged cycling.Combining theoretical calculations,this work deepens our understanding of the doping effects of Mg and Al,which is valuable in guiding the future material design of high voltage LCO.

Bone regeneration is a multifaceted,abstract,and wellcoordinated physiological progression of bone formation that participates in continuous regeneration and remodeling throughout life.However,when it comes to complex clinical situations requiring extensive bone regeneration,such as massive bone defects caused by injuries,infection,or tumor removal,traditional methods do not often yield good treatment strategies or protocols due to their limitations.
