Thermo-sensitive Poly(DEGMMA-co-MEA) Microgels: Synthesis, Characterization and Interfacial Interaction with Adsorbed Protein Layer

The novel microgels, poly[di（ethylene glycol） methyl ether methacrylate-co-2-methoxyethyl acrylate] poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels, were synthesized. The poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels were thermo-sensitive and exhibited a volume phase transitive temperature（VPTT） of 14–22 ℃. The incorporation of hydrophobic comonomer MEA shifted the VPTT of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels to lower temperatures. The interfacial interaction of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and three model proteins, namely fibrinogen, bovine serum albumin and lysozyme, was investigated by quartz crystal microbalance（QCM）. An injection sequence of ＂microgel-after-protein＂ was then established for the real-time study of the interaction of proteins and the microgels at their swollen and collapsed states by using QCM technique. The results indicated that the interfacial interaction of poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and adsorbed protein layers was mainly determined by the electrostatic interaction. Because poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels were negatively charged in Tris-HCl buffer solution（pH = 7.4）, the microgels did not adsorb on negatively charged fibrinogen and bovine serum albumin layers but strongly adsorbed on positively charged lysozyme layer. Stronger interaction between lysozyme and the microgels at collapsed state（i.e. at 37 ℃） was observed. Furthermore, the incorporation of MEA might weaken the interaction between poly（DEGMMA-co-MEA） microgels and proteins.

Thermo-sensitive Microgels Supported Gold Nanoparticles as Temperature-mediated Catalyst

Microgels with a thermo-sensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(polyNIPAm) backbone and bis-imidazolium(VIM) ionic cross-links, denoted as poly(NIPAm-co-VIM), were successfully prepared. The as-synthesized ionic microgels were converted to nanoreactors, denoted as Au@PNI MGs, upon generation and immobilization of gold nanoparticles(Au NPs) of 5–8 nm in size into poly(NIPAm-co-VIM). The content of Au NPs in microgels could be regulated by controlling the 1,6-dibromohexane/vinylimidazole molar ratio in the quaternization reaction. The microgel-based nanoreactors were morphologically spherical and uniform in size, and presented reversible thermo-sensitive behavior with volume phase transition temperatures(VPTTs) at 39–40 °C. The Au@PNI MGs were used for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, of which the catalytic activity could be modulated by temperature.

Thermochromic polymers with tunable thermochromism,high stretchability and mechanical strength are of interests for optical information storage and *** this work,we demonstrate a new design of thermo-fluorochromic carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber(XNBR)elastomer cross-linked by Eu^(3+)-COOH dynamic coordination with deprotonated imidazole(DPIm)as the ancillary *** presence of DPIm not only improves the mechanical strength and stretchability,but also dramatically intensifies the fluorescence emission and lifetime of the Eu-containing *** elastomer behaves reversible thermo-fluorochromism with easily tunable transition temperature and emission intensity by the simple change of the deprotonation degree of *** facile tunable thermo-fluorochromism,exceptional mechanical strength,and high stretchability(up to about 5000%)enable the Eu-containing XNBR elastomer with potential applications in soft electronics where optical information storage and encryption are required.

The practical application of high-energy-density lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries have been highly praised for energy storage devices,while are largely hindered by the“shuttling effect”.Herein,core-shell carbon spheres composed of interlinked porous core and lamellar shell were designed to restrain the polysulfide *** microporous structure with pore size of around 1 nm effectively trap lithium ***,the interconnected porous core shortens the ion transfer distance and the lamellar carbon shell endows the carbon spheres with fast electron conduction,finally facilitating polysulfide conversion ***,the Li-S batteries with the carbon spheres as the interlayer show high discharge specific capacity of 1002 m Ah/g at 2 C with 574 m Ah/g remaining after 600 cycles,and high areal capacity of 5.48 m Ah/cm^(2) with sulfur loading of 4.67 mg/cm^(2) at 0.1 *** corresponding pouch cells also exhibit stable cycling stability with an initial discharge specific capacity of 1082 m Ah/g at 0.1 C.

Validation and performance of three scoring systems for predicting primary non-function and early allograft failure after liver transplantation

Background: Primary non-function(PNF) and early allograft failure(EAF) after liver transplantation(LT) seriously affect patient outcomes. In clinical practice, effective prognostic tools for early identifying recipients at high risk of PNF and EAF were urgently needed. Recently, the Model for Early Allograft Function(MEAF), PNF score by King's College(King-PNF) and Balance-and-Risk-Lactate(BAR-Lac) score were developed to assess the risks of PNF and EAF. This study aimed to externally validate and compare the prognostic performance of these three scores for predicting PNF and EAF. Methods: A retrospective study included 720 patients with primary LT between January 2015 and December 2020. MEAF, King-PNF and BAR-Lac scores were compared using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) and the net reclassification improvement(NRI) and integrated discrimination improvement(IDI) analyses. Results: Of all 720 patients, 28(3.9%) developed PNF and 67(9.3%) developed EAF in 3 months. The overall early allograft dysfunction(EAD) rate was 39.0%. The 3-month patient mortality was 8.6% while 1-year graft-failure-free survival was 89.2%. The median MEAF, King-PNF and BAR-Lac scores were 5.0(3.5–6.3),-2.1(-2.6 to-1.2), and 5.0(2.0–11.0), respectively. For predicting PNF, MEAF and King-PNF scores had excellent area under curves(AUCs) of 0.872 and 0.891, superior to BAR-Lac(AUC = 0.830). The NRI and IDI analyses confirmed that King-PNF score had the best performance in predicting PNF while MEAF served as a better predictor of EAD. The EAF risk curve and 1-year graft-failure-free survival curve showed that King-PNF was superior to MEAF and BAR-Lac scores for stratifying the risk of EAF. Conclusions: MEAF, King-PNF and BAR-Lac were validated as practical and effective risk assessment tools of PNF. King-PNF score outperformed MEAF and BAR-Lac in predicting PNF and EAF within 6 months. BAR-Lac score had a huge advantage in the prediction for PNF without post-transplant variables. Proper use

The bHLH transcription factor CsPIF4 positively regulates high temperature-induced hypocotyl elongation in cucumber

High temperature-induced hypocotyl elongation is a typical thermomorphogenesis trait that may significantly affect early seedling growth and subsequent crop *** ambient temperature and endogenous auxin are two critical factors that regulate hypocotyl ***,the mechanism of temperature and auxin integration in horticultural plants remains poorly *** this study,the roles of the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor CsPIF4 in regulating auxin biosynthesis genes and the auxin content in the hypocotyl of cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)seedlings under high temperature were ***-PCR and in situ hybridization analysis revealed that expression of CsPIF4 was enhanced in the epidermis and vascular bundles in the hypocotyl of cucumber seedlings in response to high ***-PCR and HPLC analysis showed that CsPIF4 positively regulated transcription of the auxin biosynthesis gene CsYUC8 and the auxin content in the hypocotyl under high temperature(35C).The CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knockout of CsPIF4 resulted in a shorter hypocotyl compared with that of the wild type,together with decreased expression of CsYUC8 and lower auxin content in response to high ***,biochemical assays showed that CsPIF4 could bind directly to the G-box motif of the CsYUC8 promoter and thereby activate CsYUC8 *** findings provide insight into the molecular mechanism of high temperature-mediated hypocotyl elongation in cucumber.

Multisensor data fusionmethod can improve the accuracy of bearing fault diagnosis,in order to address the problems of single-sensor data types and the insufficient exploration of redundancy and complementarity between different modal data in most existing multisensor data fusion methods for bearing fault diagnosis,a bearing fault diagnosis method based on a Multiple-Constraint Modal-Invariant Graph Convolutional Fusion Network(MCMI-GCFN)is proposed in this ***,a Convolutional Autoencoder(CAE)and Squeeze-and-Excitation Block(SE block)are used to extract features of raw current and vibration ***,the model introduces source domain classifiers and domain discriminators to capture modal invariance between different modal data based on domain adversarial training,making use of the redundancy and complementarity between multimodal ***,the spatial aggregation property of Graph Convolutional Neural Networks(GCN)is utilized to capture the dependency relationship between current and vibration modes with similar time step features for accurately fusing contextual semantic ***,the validation is conducted on the public bearing damage current and vibration dataset from Paderborn *** experimental results showed that the delivered fusion method achieved a bearing fault diagnosis accuracy of 99.6%,which was about 9%–11.4%better than that with nonfusion methods.
