BACKGROUND Within the normal range,elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)levels are associated with an increased risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).AIM To investigate the associations between repeated high-normal ALT measurements and the risk of new-onset MAFLD *** A cohort of 3553 participants followed for four consecutive health examinations over 4 years was *** incidence rate,cumulative times,and equally and unequally weighted cumulative effects of excess high-normal ALT levels(ehALT)were *** proportional hazards regression was used to analyse the association between the cumulative effects of ehALT and the risk of new-onset *** A total of 83.13%of participants with MAFLD had normal ALT *** incidence rate of MAFLD showed a linear increasing trend in the cumulative ehALT *** with those in the low-normal ALT group,the multivariate adjusted hazard ratios of the equally and unequally weighted cumulative effects of ehALT were 1.651[95%confidence interval(CI):1.199-2.273]and 1.535(95%CI:1.119-2.106)in the third quartile and 1.616(95%CI:1.162-2.246)and 1.580(95%CI:1.155-2.162)in the fourth quartile,*** Most participants with MAFLD had normal ALT ***-term high-normal ALT levels were associated with a cumulative increased risk of new-onset MAFLD.

Forsythia suspensa,belonging to the deciduous shrubs of the Luteaceae family,a traditional Chinese medicine,has effects of alleviating swelling,clearing heat,detoxification and promoting blood *** leaves of *** contain multiple chemical components and have a long history of use in folk medicines and health *** purpose of this study was to explore the effects of forsythin extract from *** leaves on intestinal microbiota and short-chain fatty acid(SCFA)content in rats with obesity induced by a high-fat *** extract in *** leaves increased the abundance of the intestinal microbiota,ameliorated intestinal microbiota disorders and inhibited the increase in total SCFA content in the intestinal tract in rats with obesity induced by a high-fat *** results suggested that forsythin extract in *** leaves may slow the development of obesity induced by a high-fat diet;thus,its active components and efficacy are worthy of further study.

Amorphous Sb/C composite with isotropic expansion property as an ultra-stable and high-rate anode for lithium-ion batteries

Antimony(Sb)is an intriguing anode material for Li-ion batteries(LIBs)owing to its high theoretical capacity of 660 m Ah·g^(-1)and appropriate working potential of~0.8 V(***^(+)/Li).However,just like all alloying materials,the Sb anode suffers from huge volume expansion(230%)during repeated insertion/extraction of Li+ions,resulting in structural deterioration and rapid capacity *** this work,a novel amorphous Sb/C composite with atomically dispersed Sb particles in carbon matrix is prepared via a straightforward high-energy ball milling *** intimate intermixing of amorphous Sb with C provides homogeneous element distribution and isotropic volume expansion during cycling,resulting in persistent structural ***,the disordered structure of amorphous material shortens the diffusion distance of lithium ions/electrons,promoting fast reaction kinetics and rate *** from the aforementioned effects,the amorphous Sb/C exhibits a high reversible capacity of537.4 m Ah·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)and retains 201.0 m Ah·g^(-1)at an ultrahigh current rate of 10.0 A·g^(-1).Even after 1500deep cycles at 2.0 A·g^(-1),the amorphous Sb/C electrode still maintains 86.3%of its initial capacity,which outperforms all existing Sb-based anodes reported so *** analysis further reveals a greatly reduced volume variation of merely 34.6%for the amorphous Sb/C electrode,much lower than that of 223.1%for crystalline Sb *** study presents a new approach to stabilizing Sb-based alloy anodes and contributes to the construction of high-performance amorphous anode materials for LIBs,enabling advanced energy storage.

Exploiting high-performance yet low-cost hard carbon anodes is crucial to advancing the state-of-the-art sodium-ion ***,the achievement of superior initial Coulombic efficiency(ICE)and high Na-storage capacity via low-temperature carbonization remains challenging due to the presence of tremendous defects with few closed ***,a facile hybrid carbon framework design is proposed from the polystyrene precursor bearing distinct molecular bridges at a low pyrolysis temperature of 800℃ via in situ fusion and embedding *** is realized by integrating triazine-and carbonylcrosslinked polystyrene nanospheres during *** triazine crosslinking allows in situ fusion of spheres into layered carbon with low defects and abundant closed pores,which serves as a matrix for embedding the well-retained carbon spheres with nanopores/defects derived from carbonyl ***,the hybrid hard carbon with intimate interface showcases synergistic Na ions storage behavior,showing an ICE of 70.2%,a high capacity of 279.3 mAh g^(-1),and long-term 500 cycles,superior to carbons from the respective precursor and other reported carbons fabricated under the low carbonization *** present protocol opens new avenues toward low-cost hard carbon anode materials for high-performance sodiumion batteries.

Exceptional electrostrain with minimal hysteresis and superior temperature stability under low electric field in KNN-based lead-free piezoceramics

Over the past two decades,(K_(0.5)Na_(0.5))NbO_(3)(KNN)-based lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have made significant ***,attaining a high electrostrain with remarkable temperature stability and minimal hysteresis under low electric fields has remained a significant *** address this long-standing issue,we have employed a collaborative approach that combines defect engineering,phase engineering,and relaxation *** LKNNS-6BZH ceramic,when sintered at T_(sint)=1170℃,demonstrates an impressive electrostrain with a d_(33) value of 0.276%and 1379 pm·V^(-1)under 20 kV·cm^(-1),which is comparable to or even surpasses that of other lead-free and Pb(Zr,Ti)O_(3)***,the electrostrain performance of this ceramic remains stable up to a temperature of 125℃,with the lowest hysteresis observed at 9.73%under 40 kV·cm^(-1).These excellent overall performances are attributed to the presence of defect dipoles involving V′_(A)-V∙∙_(O) and B′_(Nb)-V∙∙O,the coexistence of R-O-T multiphase,and the tuning of the trade-off between long-range ordering and local *** work provides a lead-free alternative for piezoelectric actuators and a paradigm for designing piezoelectric materials with outstanding comprehensive performance under low electric fields.

BACKGROUND The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)has been reported as a novel predictor for atherosclerosis and car-diovascular *** study aimed to determine the effects of NLR on long-term clinical outcomes of chronic total occlusion(CTO)*** A total of 670 patients with CTO who met the inclusion criteria were included at the end of the follow-up *** were divided into tertiles according to their baseline NLR levels at admission:low(n=223),intermediate(n=223),and high(n=224).The incidence of major adverse cardiac events(MACEs)during the follow-up period,including all-cause death,nonfatal myocardial infarction(MI),or ischemia-driven revascularization,were compared among the three *** Major adverse cardiac events were observed in 27 patients(12.1%)in the low tertile,40(17.9%)in the intermediate tertile,and 61(27.2%)in the high NLR tertile(Psuggest that NLR is an inexpensive and readily available biomarker that can independently pre-dict cardiovascular risk in patients with CTO.

Antimicrobial resistance characteristics and phylogenetic relationships of pleuromutilin-resistant Enterococcus isolates from different environmental samples along a laying hen production chain

Antimicrobial resistance in the laying hen production industry has become a serious public health *** antimicrobial resistance and phylogenetic relationships of the common conditional pathogen Enterococcus along the laying hen production chain have not been systematically clarified.105 Enterococcus isolates were obtained from 115 environmental samples (air,dust,feces,fies,sewage,and soil) collected along the laying hen production chain (breeding chicken,chick,young chicken,and commercial laying hen).These Enterococcus isolates exhibited resistance to some clinically relevant antibiotics,such as tetracycline (92.4%),streptomycin (92.4%),and erythromycin (91.4%),and all strains had multidrug resistance *** genome sequencing characterized 29 acquired antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) that conferred resistance to 11 classes of antibiotics in 51pleuromutilin-resistant Enterococcus isolates,and lsa(E),which mediates resistance to pleuromutilins,always co-occurred with lnu(B).Alignments with the Mobile Genetic Elements database identified four transposons (Tn554,Tn558,Tn6261,and Tn6674) with several ARGs(erm(A),ant(9)-la,fex(A),and optrA) that mediated resistance to many clinically important ***,we identified two new transposons that carried ARGs in the Tn554 family designated as Tn7508 and Tn7492.A complementary approach based on conventional multi-locus sequence typing and whole genome single nucleotide polymorphism analysis showed that phylogenetically related pleuromutilin-resistant Enterococcus isolates were widely distributed in various environments on different production *** results indicate that environmental contamination by antimicrobial-resistant Enterococcus requires greater attention,and they highlight the risk of pleuromutilin-resistant Enterococcus and ARGs disseminating along the laying hen production chain,thereby warranting effective disinfection.
