The ratio of penumbral to umbra area of sunspots plays a crucial role in the solar physics fields, especially for understanding the origin and evolution of the solar activity cycle. By analyzing the recently digitized sunspot drawings observed from Yunnan Observatories(1957–2021), we investigate the long-term variation of the penumbral to umbra area ratio of sunspots. An automatic extraction method, based on the maximum between-class variance and the morphological discrimination, is used to accurately extract penumbra and umbra and to calculate the ratio over six solar cycles(cycle 19–24). The expected value of the ratio of penumbra to umbra area is found to be 6.63 ± 0.98, and it does not exhibit any systematic variation with sunspot latitudes and phases. The average ratio fluctuates from 5 to 7.5 per year and the overall trend has decreased after 1999 compared to the previous *** ratio of sunspot penumbra to umbra area satisfies the log-normal distribution, implying that its variation is related to the evolution of the photospheric magnetic field. Our results are consistent with previous works.

There are many different versions of A Dream in Red Mansions and some versions are different from the others in content,which has drawn great attention from the academic circle. Since the 20 th century,different scholars have different views upon which is best among the 13 versions of A Dream in Red Mansions. Some believe that the versions that showthe real writing of Cao Xueqin are the best; while others believe that the versions with the vivid description and artistic influence are the best,and there are still others who stick to both the two views. This paper attempts to overviewsuch researches for almost a century,which is undoubtedly meaningful for the further study of A Dream in Red Mansions in the future.

The association among plasma trimethylamine-N-oxide(TMAO),FMO3 polymorphisms,and chronic heart failure(CHF)remains to be *** is a microbiota-dependent metabolite from dietary choline and carnitine.A prospective study was performed including 955 consecutively diagnosed CHF patients with reduced ejection fraction,with the longest follow-up of 7 *** concentrations of plasma TMAO and its precursors,namely,choline and carnitine,were determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry,and the FMO3 E158K polymorphisms(rs2266782)were *** top tertile of plasma TMAO was associated with a significant increment in hazard ratio(HR)for the composite outcome of cardiovascular death or heart transplantation(HR=1.47,95%CI=1.13-1.91,P=0.004)compared with the lowest *** adjustments of the potential confounders,higher TMAO could still be used to predict the risk of the primary endpoint(adjusted HR=1.33,95%CI=1.01-1.74,P=0.039).This result was also obtained after further adjustment for carnitine(adjusted HR=1.33,95%CI=1.01-1.74,P=0.039).The FM03 rs2266782 polymorphism was associated with the plasma TMAO concentrations in our cohort,and lower TMAO levels were found in the ***,higher plasma TMAO levels indicated increased risk of the composite outcome of cardiovascular death or heart transplantation independent of potential confounders,and the FMO3 AA-genotype in rs2266782 was related to lower plasma TMAO levels.

Phylogeny of the Labeoninae （Teleostei, Cypriniformes） based on nuclear DNA sequences and implications on character evolution and biogeography

Abstract The Labeoninae is a subfamily of the family Cyprinidae, Order Cypriniformes. Oromandibular morphology within the Labeoninae is the greatest among cyprinid fishes. Although several phylogenetic studies about labeonines have been undertaken the results have been inconsistent and a comprehensive phylogeny is needed. Further, an incongruence between morphological and molecular phylogeny requires a systematic exploration of the significance of morphological characters on the basis of the molecular phylogeny. In this study, a total of 292 nucleotide sequences from 73 individuals （representing 24 genera and 73 species） of Labeoninae were analyzed. The results of the phylogenetic analysis indicate that there are four major clades within Labeoninae and three monophyletic lineages within the fourth clade. Results of the character evolution show that all oromandibular morphological characters are homoplastically distributed on the molecular phylogenetic tree and suggests that these characters evolved several times during the history of labeonines. In particular, the labeonine, a specific disc on the lower lip, has been acquired three times and reversed twice. These morphological characters do not have systematic significance but can be useful for taxonomy. The results of biogeography suggest that the Labeoninae originated from Southeast Asia and separately dispersed to Africa, East Asia and South Asia.

Diversity and distribution of bacterial community in the coastal sediments of Bohai Bay,China

In order to understand the diversity and distribution of the bacterial community in the coastal sediment of the Bohai Bay, China, high-throughput barcoded pyrosequencing of the 16S rRNA gene was used. Metagenomic DNA was extracted from the sediment samples, and was sequenced using a 454 GS FLX Titanium system. At 97% similarity, the sequences were assigned to 22 884 operational taxonomic units （OTUs） which belonged to 41 phyla, 84 classes, 268 genera and 789 species. At the different taxonomic levels, both the dominants and their distribution varied significantly among the six coastal sediments. Proteobacteria was the first dominant phylum across all the six coastal sediments, representing 57.52%, 60.66%, 45.10%, 60.92%, 56.63% and 56.59%, respectively. Bacteroidetes was the second dominant phylum at Stas S1, S2 and S4, while Chloroflexi was the second dominant phylum at Stas S3, S5 and S6. At class level, γ-Proteobacteria was the first dominant class at Stas S1,S2, S4 andS6, while δ-Proteobacteria became the first dominant class at Stas S3 and S5. In addition, a large proportion of unclassified representatives have distributed at the different taxonomic levels. Canonical correspondence analysis （CCA） results indicated that the sediment texture, water depth （D）, dissolved oxygen （DO）, total nitrogen （TN） and nine EPA priority control polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） including naphthalene, acenaphthylene, acenaphthene, fluorine, phenanthrene, fluoranthene, pyrene, benzo[a]anthracene and indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene were the important factors in regulating the bacterial community composition. Those results are very important to further understand the roles of bacterial community in the coastal biogeochemical cycles.

This paper explores the multi-frequency independent channel interference alignment(MFC-IA) system of 3 channels and4 users,and single data stream transmit,i.e.(3×3,1)~4 *** derive the analytic solution for(3×3,1)~4 MFC-IA *** on the analytic solution,an optimization problem is proposed aim at the optimal IA *** based on such a math model,we propose a simulated annealing(SA) algorithm to search optimal IA *** simulation results show that the simulated annealing IA algorithm has a better sum rate performance than iterative maximize signal to interference plus noise ratio(Max-SINR) *** result can be extended to single data stream multi-antenna IA system with 3 antennas and4 users.

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by impaired perception, delusions, thought disorder, abnormal emotion regulation, altered motor function, and impaired drive. The default mode network （DMN）, since it was first proposed in 2001, has become a central research theme in neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia. In this review, first we define the DMN and describe its functional activity, functional and anatomical connectivity, heritability, and inverse correlation with the task positive network. Second, we review empirical studies of the anatomical and functional DMN, and anti-correlation between DMN and the task positive network in schizophrenia. Finally, we review preliminary evidence about the relationship between antipsychotic medications and regulation of the DMN, review the role of DMN as a treatment biomarker for this disease, and consider the DMN effects of individualized therapies for schizophrenia.

Increasing global energy demand and environment issue have pushed us to develop technologies for efficient utiliza- tion of fossil fuels and also seek for renewable energy re- sources. Chemistry plays a crucial role in the acquisition, generation, distribution, and utilization of energy in differ- ent forms although it is not the only contributing subject. Currently, fossil fuels are the primary source to provide the majority of the world＇s energy. While the efficient utiliza- tion of fossil fuels requires deep understanding of the ener- gy transformation processes associated with the breaking and reorganization of chemical bonds, the use of many re- newable energy resources often involves chemical trans- formations with electron transfer. For these reasons, energy chemistry has been recently emerging as a new interdisci- plinary area to address chemistry issues associated with energy technologies.

Insects show highly complicated adaptive and sophisticated behaviors, includ-ing spatial orientation skills, learning ability, and social interaction. These behaviors arecontrolled by the insect brain, the central part of the nervous system. The tiny insect brainconsists of millions of highly differentiated and interconnected cells forming a complexnetwork. Decades of research has gone into an understanding of which parts of the insectbrain possess particular behaviors, but exactly how they modulate these functional conse-quences needs to be clarified. Detailed description of the brain and behavior is required todecipher the complexity of cell types, as well as their connectivity and function. Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) has emerged recently as a breakthrough technologyto understand the transcriptome at cellular resolution. With scRNA-seq, it is possible touncover the cellular heterogeneity of brain cells and elucidate their specific functions andstate. In this review, we first review the basic structure of insect brains and the links toinsect behaviors mainly focusing on learning and memory. Then the scRNA applicationson insect brains are introduced by representative studies. Single-cell RNA-seq has allowedresearchers to classify cell subpopulations within different insect brain regions, pinpointsingle-cell developmental trajectories, and identify gene regulatory networks. These devel-opments empower the advances in neuroscience and shed light on the intricate problemsin understanding insect brain functions and behaviors.
