A new species of the Southeast Asian genus Opisthotropis (Serpentes Colubridae： Natricinae) from western Hunan, China

A new species of natricine snake of the Southeast Asian genus Opisthotropis GUnther, 1872 is described from western Hunan Province of China based on both mitochondrial DNA and morphological data. The new species is morphologically most similar and genetically most closely related to O. cheni Zhao, 1999 and O. latouchfi （Boulenger, 1899）, but possesses considerable genetic divergence （p- distance 5.1%-16.7%） and can be differentiated from all other congeners by a combination of the following morphological characters：（1） body size large （total length 514-586 mm） and strongly built; （2） dorsal scale rows 17 throughout, feebly keeled anteriorly and moderately keeled posteriorly; （3） ventral scales 147-152, subcaudal scales 54-62; （4） preocular absent, Ioreal elongated and touching orbit; （5） supralabials 8-9, fifth and sixth entering obit; （6） anterior temporals short, length 1.74-2.04 times longer than width; （7） maxillary teeth subequal, 28-30; （8） dorsal surface of head with distinct irregular yellow stripes and markings edged with ochre; （9） body with clear black and yellow longitudinal streaks, partly fused to several lighter patches or thicker stripes anteriorly; and （10） venter pale yellow, with asymmetric blackish speckles along outer margin. We present an updated diagnostic key to all members of the genus Opisthotropis, and recommendations on the ecological study for the group are provided.

The Sichuan hot-spring snake(Thermophis zhaoermii)is a rare and endemic species found at high elevations in the Hengduan Mountains of *** species-specific investigations showed that the Sichuan hot-spring snake is still restricted to geothermal zones at elevations higher than 3000 m *** species also remains at risk of extinction,with the effective population size showing continual decline over the past one million years based on coalescent inference from genome-level single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)*** propose several approaches for protecting Sichuan hot-spring snake populations and their habitat.

Amolops chunganensis is a species complex and reported widely from eastern,southern,and southwestern *** on molecular data of 19 populations of *** sensu lato from China,including the population from ***(type locality),we recognize *** sensu stricto and provide an expanded description based on the topotypic *** morphological and molecular data,we describe a new species,Amolops chaochin ***.,from southwestern China,which was previously identified as *** new species is distinguished from all other species in the *** group by:(1)moderate body size,SVL 35.3-39.2 mm in males(n=7),and 50.5-54.4 mm in females(n=7);(2)distinct tympanum,larger than half of eye diameter;(3)small tooth-like projection on anteromedial edge of mandible;(4)circummarginal groove on all fingers;(5)white tubercles on dorsal side of posterior body in both sexes;(6)distinct tubercles on dorsal thigh and white spinose tubercles on dorsal tibia in both sexes;(7)white tubercles on posterior region of tympanum in males;(8)toe webbing reaching disk by dermal fringe on inner side of toe II;(9)vomerine teeth present;(10)transverse bands on dorsal limbs;(11)external vocal sacs present in *** further reviewed the assignment of Amolops groups,with an overall revision of membership and diagnosis of all species groups.

High-Temperature Stability of Mg-1Al-12Y Alloy Containing LPSO Phase and Mechanism of Its Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)Effect

In this study,the high-temperature stability and the generation mechanism of the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect in solid-solution Mg-1Al-12Y alloy with different heat treatment processes were investigated by adjusting the content of long-period stacking ordered(LPSO)*** was found that the content of LPSO phases in the alloys differed the most after heat treatment at 530℃for 16 h and 24 h,with values of 13.56%and 3.93%***,high-temperature tensile experiments were conducted on these two alloys at temperatures of 150℃,200℃,250℃,and 300℃.The results showed that both alloys exhibited the PLC effect at temperatures ranging from 150 to 250℃.However,at a temperature 300℃,only the alloy with a greater concentration of LPSO phases exhibited the PLC effect,whereas the alloy with a lower proportion of LPSO phases did not exhibit this ***,both alloys exhibited remarkable high-temperature stability,with the alloy containing a greater percentage of LPSO phases also demonstrating superior *** underlying mechanism for this phenomenon lies in the exceptional high-temperature stability exhibited by the second phase within the ***,the LPSO phase effectively obstructs the movement of dislocations,and it also undergoing kinking to facilitate plastic deformation of the *** results indicate that the PLC effect can be suppressed by reducing dislocation pile-up at grain boundaries,which leads to a decrease in alloy plasticity but an increase in *** presence of the PLC effect in the WA121 alloy is attributed to the abundant dispersed second phase within the alloy,which initially hinders the movement of dislocations,leading to an increase in stress,and subsequently releases the dislocations,allowing them to continue their movement and thereby reducing in stress.

Elemene, derived from Curcuma wenyujin, one of the "8 famous genuine medicinal materials of Zhejiang province," exhibits remarkable antitumor activity. It has gained wide recognition in clinical practice for effectiveness on tumors. Dr. XIE Tian introduced the innovative concept of "molecular compatibility theory" by combining Chinese medicine principles, specifically the "monarch, minister, assistant, and envoy" theory, with modern biomedical technology. This groundbreaking approach, along with a systematic analysis of Chinese medicine and modern biomedical knowledge, led to the development of elemene nanoliposome formulations. These novel formulations offer numerous advantages, including low toxicity, well-defined composition, synergistic effects on multiple targets, and excellent biocompatibility. Following the principles of the "molecular compatibility theory", further exploration of cancer treatment strategies and methods based on elemene was undertaken. This comprehensive review consolidates the current understanding of elemene's potential antitumor mechanisms, recent clinical investigations, advancements in drug delivery systems, and structural modifications. The ultimate goal of this review is to establish a solid theoretical foundation for researchers, empowering them to develop more effective antitumor drugs based on the principles of "molecular compatibility theory".

Effects of projectile parameters on the momentum transfer and projectile melting during hypervelocity impact

The effects of projectile/target impedance matching and projectile shape on energy,momentum transfer and projectile melting during collisions are investigated by numerical *** comparing the computation results with the experimental results,the correctness of the calculation and the statistical method of momentum transfer coefficient is *** shapes of aluminum,copper and heavy tungsten alloy projectiles striking aluminum,basalt,and pumice target for impacts up to 10 km/s are *** influence mechanism of the shape of the projectile and projectile/target density on the momentum transfer was *** an increase in projectile density and length-diameter ratio,the energy transfer time between the projectile and targets is *** projectile decelerates slowly,resulting in a larger cratering *** energy consumed by the projectile in the excavation stage increased,resulting in lower mass-velocity of ejecta and momentum transfer *** numerical simulation results demonstrated that for different projectile/target combinations,the higher the wave impedance of the projectile,the higher the initial phase transition velocity and the smaller the mass of phase *** results can provide theoretical guidance for kinetic impactor design and material selection.
