Currently available earthquake attenuation equations are locally applicable,and methods based on observation data are not applicable in areas without available observation data.To solve the above problems and further improve the prediction accuracy of ground motion parameters,we present a prediction model referred to as a light gradient boosting machine with feature selection(LGB-FS).It is based on a light gradient boosting machine(LightGBM)constructed using historical strong motion data from the NGA-west2 database and can quickly simulate the distribution of strong motion near the epicenter after an earthquake.Cases study shows that compared with GMPE methods and those based on real-time observation data,the model has a better prediction effect in areas without available observation data and can be applied to Yangbi Earthquake and Maduo Earthquake.The feature importance evaluation based on both information gains and partial dependence plots(PDPs)reveals the complex relationships between multiple factors and ground motion parameters,allowing us to better understand their mechanisms and connections.

A new era of flood control strategies from the perspective of managing the 2020 Yangtze River flood

Flood control of the Yangtze River is an important part of China’s national water security.In July 2020,due to continuous heavy rainfall,the water levels along the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River and major lakes constantly exceeded the warning levels,in which Taihu Lake exceeded its highest safety water level and some stations of Poyang Lake reached their highest water levels in its history.In August 2020,another huge flood occurred in the Minjiang River and the Jialing River in the upper Yangtze River,and some areas of Chongqing Municipality and other cities along the rivers were inundated,resulting in great pressure on flood control and high disaster losses.The 2020 Yangtze River flood has received extensive media coverage and raised concerns on the roles of the Three Gorges Dam and other large reservoirs in flood control.Here we analyze the changes in the pattern of the Yangtze River flood control by comparing the strategies to tackle the three heavy floods occurring in 1954,1998,and 2020.We propose that the overall strategy of the Yangtze River flood control in the new era should adhere to the principle of"Integration of storage and drainage over the entire Yangtze River Basin,with draining floods downstream as the first priority"by using both engineering and non-engineering measures.On the basis of embankments,the engineering measures should use the Three Gorges Dam and other large reservoirs as the major regulatory means,promote the construction of key flood detention areas,keep the floodways clear,and maintain the ecosystem services of wetlands and shoals.In terms of non-engineering measures,we should strengthen adaptive flood risk management under climate change,standardize the use of lands in flood detention areas,give space to floods,and promote the implementation of flood risk maps and flood insurance policies.The ultimate goal of this new flood control system is to enhance the adaptability to frequent floods and increase the resilience to extreme flood disasters.

寄主介导效应被认为会导致半寄生性的桑寄生植物的繁殖物候异步性,并由此为与桑寄生植物互惠共生的传粉者和种子散布者提供更长时间的食物资源供应,但目前关于此方面的研究还缺乏相关的实证数据。本研究以广泛分布于中国西南西双版纳地区的一种泛性桑寄生科植物五蕊寄生(Dendrophthoe pentandra)为材料,每周监测其开花、结果物候,检测了其开花和结果物候是否呈季节性格局,量化了五蕊寄生繁殖物候的异步程度,并检测了影响该植物始花期早晚的因素。最后,本研究还检验了五蕊寄生繁殖物候的异步性随寄主种类数量变化的效应。研究结果表明:(i)在连续两年的物候观测中五蕊寄生的花期和果期都呈单峰分布格局;(ii)始花期显著受到植物大小和光照强度的影响,即冠幅越大和受光程度越高的植物个体有更早的始花期和更长的花期和果期;(iii)不同的寄主种类对五蕊寄生的繁殖物候有显著的影响,但与假设相反的是,随着寄主种类数量的增加,五蕊寄生繁殖物候的异步性没有显著提高。这项研究表明,在解释泛性桑寄生植物的繁殖物候异步性及寄主种类的数量对其影响的生态学意义还需进行更深入的探究。

This study proposes a social-financial approach(SFA)to fill the methodological research gap in strategic policy design for managing financial transitions during social changes.The SFA seeks to characterize inclusive transitions in response to innovation and analyze financial management in social changes.Using a multilevel perspective,we combine evolutionary finance and inclusive growth analytics into this framework.We contend that the interaction between the different levels can be summarized as spontaneous adjustments and the alignment of financial elements with the indicators.Actors who attempt to achieve their goals based on past performance evaluations and other forms of bounded rationality strive to cope with adjustments and further trigger a reorientation of the existing regime.We also developed a new configuration tool called the three-axis description to describe the evolution of financial transitions at different stages.These methods allow us to analyze the evolution of financial transition and efficiency,and we argue that market efficiency evolves in stages with the finan-cial transition.Finally,to demonstrate the capability of SFA to identify diverse financial transition pathways,we examined an example case:the establishment of the Bretton Woods System.

Based on the preparative experiments of the light-emitting diode(LED) encapsulant, three types of monomer models with different functional groups are carried out to study the polymerization process by dynamic Monte Carlo(DMC) simulation and bond fluctuation model(BFM). We calculate the degree of polymerization, the radius of gyration and the frequency of void spheres to discuss the polymerization process, the molecular size and the spatial distribution at different volume fractions and proportions. Our results are in agreement with Grest's decay rate and Flory's scale law. Simulations show that the polymerization process depends on the appropriate volume fraction and proportion exceedingly, and the volume contraction in the polymerization process can also be observed in this study.These investigations could provide some insights into the understanding of the polymerization process of the encapsulant and help us to adjust the parameters in later experiments.

Background:HLA-DMA presents pathogen-derived antigens to CD4+and CD8+T cells,respectively,and plays a significant part in initiating the immune response.So far,the impact of HLA expression on the prognosis of BC cells is controversial,because few studies have shown that the expressions of some HLA genes are related to the improvement of the survival rate.Up till now,however,the relationship between HLA-DMA and LUAD has not yet been assessed.Methods:We analyzed the TCGA database and assessed the prognostic value of HLA-DMA in LUAD.We conducted the Kruskal–Wallis and Wilcoxon signed-rank test and utilized logistic regression to assess the role of clinical-pathologic characteristics and HLA-DMA expression.Kaplan–Meier method and the multivariate and univariate Cox regression were also used for evaluating the prognosis-related factors of LUAD.GSEA was used to identify HLA-DMA-related key pathways.The ssGSEA of the TCGA data was used to investigate the correlations between HLA-DMA and cancer immune cell infiltration.Results:Low HLA-DMA expression was related to poorer disease-specific survival(DSS)and overall survival(OS)of LUAD patients.GSEA revealed that HLA-DMA was tightly interrelated with an immune response by the reactome activation of anterior hox genes in hindbrain development during the early embryogenesis signaling pathway.The expression of HLA-DMA was positively associated with cytotoxic cell infiltration and negatively related to the Th2 cell infiltration according to the ssGSEA.Western blotting and the CCK-8 assay showed that KD-HLA-DMA could significantly increase the proliferation of A549 cells and significantly reduce cell pyroptosis.Conclusion:All the observations implied that HLA-DMA was associated with patient prognosis and immune infiltration in LUAD.

Stacked spectral feature space patch: An advanced spectral representation for precise crop classification based on convolutional neural network

Spectral and spatial features in remotely sensed data play an irreplaceable role in classifying crop types for precision agriculture. Despite the thriving establishment of the handcrafted features, designing or selecting such features valid for specific crop types requires prior knowledge and thus remains an open challenge. Convolutional neural networks(CNNs) can effectively overcome this issue with their advanced ability to generate high-level features automatically but are still inadequate in mining spectral features compared to mining spatial features. This study proposed an enhanced spectral feature called Stacked Spectral Feature Space Patch(SSFSP) for CNN-based crop classification. SSFSP is a stack of twodimensional(2 D) gridded spectral feature images that record various crop types’ spatial and intensity distribution characteristics in a 2 D feature space consisting of two spectral bands. SSFSP can be input into2 D-CNNs to support the simultaneous mining of spectral and spatial features, as the spectral features are successfully converted to 2 D images that can be processed by CNN. We tested the performance of SSFSP by using it as the input to seven CNN models and one multilayer perceptron model for crop type classification compared to using conventional spectral features as input. Using high spatial resolution hyperspectral datasets at three sites, the comparative study demonstrated that SSFSP outperforms conventional spectral features regarding classification accuracy, robustness, and training efficiency. The theoretical analysis summarizes three reasons for its excellent performance. First, SSFSP mines the spectral interrelationship with feature generality, which reduces the required number of training samples.Second, the intra-class variance can be largely reduced by grid partitioning. Third, SSFSP is a highly sparse feature, which reduces the dependence on the CNN model structure and enables early and fast convergence in model training.
