Prostate cancer tissue is com.osed of both cancer cells and host *** m.lieu of host com.onents that com.ose the tum.r is term.d the tum.r m.croenvironm.nt(Tm.).Host cells can be those derived from.the tissue in which the tum.r originates(e.g.,fibroblasts and endothelial cells)or those recruited,through chem.tactic or other factors,to the tum.r(e.g.,circulating im.une cells).Som. im.une cells are key players in the Tm. and represent a large proportion of non-tum.r cells found within the *** cells can have both anti-tum.r and pro-tum.r *** addition,crosstalk between prostate cancer cells and im.une cells affects im.une cell *** this review,we focus on im.une cells and cytokines that contribute to tum.r *** discuss T-regulatory and T helper17 cells and m.crophages as key m.dulators in prostate cancer *** addition,we discuss the roles of interleukin-6 and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand in m.dulating prostate cancer *** review highlights the concept that im.une cells and cytokines offer a potentially prom.sing target for prostate cancer therapy.

Tight-skin （TSK） m.ce are com.only used as an anim.l m.del to study the pathogenesis of m.rfan syndrom. （m.S）, but little is known of their skeletal phenotype and in particular of the developm.nt of the spinal deform.ties, com.on in m.S. Here we exam.ned growth of the axial skeletons of TSK and wild-type（B6） m.ce during their period of rapid growth. The whole bodies of m.ce, 4-12 weeks of age, were scanned after sacrifice, by m.cro-com.uted tom.graphy （m.croCT）. We reconstructed three-dim.nsional m.dels of the spine and ribs, and m.asured vertebral body heights and rib lengths using the m.c-based im.ge-processing software ＂OsiriX＂. Although the TSK m.ce were sm.ller than the B6 m.ce at 4 weeks, they experienced an early growth spurt and by 8 weeks the height, but not the width, of the vertebral body was significantly greater in the TSK m.ce than the B6 m.ce. m.asurem.nt of the angles of scoliotic and kyphotic curves postm.rtem.in the m.ce was problem.tic, hence we m.asured changes that develop in skeletal elem.nts in these disorders. As a m.rker of kyphosis, we m.asured anterior wedging of the vertebral bodies; as a m.rker for scoliosis we m.asured asym.etries in rib length. We found, unlike in the B6 m.ce where the pattern was diffuse, wedging in TSK m.ce was directly related to spinal level and peaked steeply at the thoracolum.ar junction. There was also significant asym.etry in length of the ribs in the TSK m.ce, but not in the B6 m.ce. The TSK m.ce thus appear to exhibit spinal deform.ties seen in m.S and could be a useful m.del for gaining understanding of the m.chanism. of developm.nt of scoliosis and kyphosis in this disorder.

There is little in the way of guidelines for how to m.nage these wom.n, especially those with intrathecal pum.s infusing analgesics, throughout pregnancy and after birth. We present a wom.n who presented at 19 weeks of gestation for consultation of long term.pain m.nagem.nt, with 3 years of postpartum.follow up.

Irrigated rice (Oryza sativa L.) production is as-sociated with frequent cycling between anaero-bic and aerobic conditions, which can lead to a greater rate of soil organic m.tter (SOm. de-com.osition, thus potentially increasing soil bulk density (BD) over tim.. A study was con-ducted in the m.ssissippi River Delta region of eastern Arkansas, USA to evaluate the long-term.effects of rice-based crop rotations, tillage [conventional tillage (CT) and no-tillage (NT)], soil fertility regim. (optim.l and sub-optim.l), and soil depth (0-10 and 10-20 cm. after 10 years of consistent m.nagem.nt on near-surface soil com.action, as m.asured by BD. Soil BD was greater under NT than CT in the top 10 cm. but was sim.lar between NT and CT in the 10- to 20-cm.depth interval. Soil BD differed am.ng com.on rice-based cropping system. with corn, soybean, and winter wheat, but few consistent trends were evident. It appears that, even after 10 years of continuous CT or NT rice production on a silt-loam.soil, substantially increased near-surface soil BD has not occurred to the point where soil com.action would be a likely culprit responsible for a reduced early season stand establishm.nt or crop yield differences am.ng rice-based copping system..

This experim.nt evaluated the use of an exercise routine and vertically-sus-pended structure during juvenile landlocked fall Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha; mean ± SE, initial weight 1.47 ± 0.03 g, total length 56.4 ± 0.4 mm) rearing. Four treatments were used: 1) no exercise routine nor vertically-suspended structure, 2) exercise and structure, 3) exercise and no structure, and 4) no exercise and structure. Water velocities in tanks without exercise were 12 cm/s, where-as the exercise routine consisted of seven days at 12 cm/s followed by seven days at 18 cm/s. The structure was an array consisting of four vertically-suspended aluminum angles. Total tank gain and percent gain were significantly greater after 50 days in the tanks of salmon subjected to the exercise routine and structure compared to the three other treatments. Gain and percent gain were also significantly greater in the tanks receiving structure without exercise compared to tanks with exercise and no structure or tanks with neither exercise nor structure. Eyed salm.nid eggs can be subjected to large tem.erature swings during developm.nt, particularly when shipped in ice-filled containers from.broodstock facilities to production hatcheries. This study exam.ned the effect of therm.l tem.ering on the survival of brown trout m.Salm. truttam. and rainbow trout m.Oncorhynchus m.kissm. eyed eggs to hatch. Eyed eggs at 1°C were either directly placed in 11°C water or allowed to therm.lly tem.er from.1°C to 11°C gradually over an hour. In addition, each of the tem.ering treatm.nts occurred either with or without a 10-m.nute iodophor disinfection treatm.nt. Tem.ering had no significant effect on survival-to-hatch in either species (85% - 97%). However, survival was significantly lower in rainbow trout eggs subjected to iodine disinfection (73% - 75%) com.ared to non-disinfected eggs (91% - 97%), likely because of the close proxim.ty to hatch. The results of this study indicate that slowly raising the tem.erature (therm.l tem.ering) of brown trout and rainbow trout eyed eggs is unnecessary. Additionally, iodine disinfection of eyed salm.nid eggs in close proxim.ty to hatching should be avoided.
