This study attempts to develop a reproducible thin-film formation technique called vacuum-free(VF)lamination,which transfers thin films using elastomeric polymer-based laminating ***,by controlling the interface characteristics of the mediator based on the work of adhesion,VF lamination is successfully performed for various thicknesses(from 20 to 240 nm)of a conjugated photoactive material composed of poly[(2,6-(4,8-bis(5-(2-ethylhexyl-3-fluoro)thiophen-2-yl)-benzo[1,2-b:4,5-bʹ]dithiophene))-alt-(5,5-(1ʹ,3ʹ-di-2-thienyl-5ʹ,7ʹ-bis(2-ethylhexyl)benzo[1ʹ,2ʹ-c:4ʹ,5ʹ-cʹ]dithiophene-4,8-dione)](a polymer donor)and 2,2ʹ-((2Z,2ʹZ)-((12,13-bis(2-butyloctyl)-3,9-diundecyl-12,13-dihydro-[1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-e]thieno[2ʹʹ,3ʹʹ:4ʹ,5ʹ]thieno[2ʹ,3ʹ:4,5]pyrrolo[3,2-g]thieno[2ʹ,3ʹ:4,5]thieno[3,2-b]indole-2,10-diyl)bis(methanylylidene))bis(5,6-difluoro-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-indene-2,1-diylidene))dimalononitrile(a nonfullerene acceptor).Interestingly,the organic photovoltaic and photodetecting applications,prepared by the VF lamination process,showed superior performance compared to those of devices prepared by conventional *** is due to the overturned surface morphology,which led to enhanced charge transport ability and blocking of the externally injected ***,the reproducible VF lamination process,exploiting an adhesion-based elastomeric polymer mediator,is a promising thin-film formation technique for developing efficient next-generation organic optoelectronic materials consistent with the solution process.

Effect of twine thickness on size-selectivity of driftnet for the yellow croaker Larimichthys polyactis in southwestern Sea of Korea

In order to determine the effect of twine thickness on the size-selectivity of the driftnet used for the yellow croaker, size-selectivity tests were conducted with three different twine thicknesses(monofi lament diameters of 0.279 mm(number's method; No. 3), 0.321 mm(No. 4), and 0.360 mm(No. 5)) of driftnets for the yellow croaker in the seas around Chooja-do, Jeju Islands. The selectivity curve was estimated by using Kitahara's method. In order to determine the physical properties of the twine used in the experimental fi shing nets, we measured the breaking load, elongation, and stiffness under both dry and wet conditions. In terms of physical properties, the thinnest twine(No. 3) had the strongest breaking strength per unit cross-sectional area, along with good elongation and excellent fl exibility. The thickest twine(No. 5) had the lowest fl exibility. In terms of selectivity, the net of No. 3 twine showed the broadest selection range and, thus, a relatively low selectivity compared with the other nets, while the less fl exible net of No. 5 twine showed the narrowest selectivity range and high selectivity. In addition, it was found that a thicker twine resulted in a smaller haul of small fi sh. Therefore, it can be inferred that the thickness of the twine affects the size of the catch and selectivity, and thus the size composition of the catch as well.

Dural metastasis from primary gastric adenocarcinoma has been rarely reported, and its prognosis is very poor because it frequently leads to acute subdural hematoma. Here, we describe a case with sequential spinal and cranial dural metastases from gastric adenocarcinoma without subdural hematoma. A 43-yearold woman with gastric adenocarcinoma and wellcontrolled peritoneal carcinomatosis presented with back pain, right radiating leg pain, left facial palsy, and hearing loss. Magnetic resonance imaging of the spine and brain revealed dural masses at the lumbosacral junction with invasion to the L5 and S1 nerve roots and at the skull base with invasion to the internal auditory canal. She was treated with local radiotherapy, and her pain and neurologic symptoms improved after palliative radiotherapy. This is the first reported case of dural metastases of gastric adenocarcinoma of the spine and skull base but with a relatively indolent course and without subdural hematoma.

The dehydration-responsive element-binding factor 2C （DREB2C） is a member of the CBF/DREB subfamily of proteins, which contains a single APETALA2/Ethylene responsive element-binding factor （AP2/ERF） domain. To identify the expression pattern of the DREB2C gene, which contains multiple transcription cis-regulatory elements in its promoter, an approximately 1.4 kb upstream DREB2C sequence was fused to the β-glucuronidase reporter gene （GUS） and the recombinant p1244 construct was transformed into Arabidopsis thaliana （L.） Heynh. The promoter of the gene directed prominent GUS activity in the vasculature in diverse young dividing tissues. Upon applying heat stress （HS）, GUS staining was also enhanced in the vasculature of the growing tissues. Analysis of a series of 5＇-deletions of the DREB2C promoter revealed that a proximal upstream sequence sufficient for the tissue-specific spatial and temporal induction of GUS expression by HS is localized in the promoter region between -204 and -34 bps relative to the transcriptional start site. Furthermore, electrophoretic mobility shift assay （EMSA） demonstrated that nuclear protein binding activities specific to a -120 to -32 bp promoter fragment increased after HS. These results indicate that the TATA-proximal region and some latent trans-acting factors may cooperate in HS-induced activation of the Arabidopsis DREB2C promoter.

A simple and reproducible method to control the thickness of black phosphorus flakes in real time using a UV/ozone treatment is demonstrated. Back-gated black phosphorus field-effect transistors （FETs） were fabricated using thick black phosphorus flakes obtained by thinning of black phosphorus, as oxygen radicals generated by UV irradiation formed phosphorus oxides on the surface. In order to monitor the thickness effect on the electrical properties, the fabricated FETs were loaded in the UV/ozone chamber, where both the optical （micro-Raman spectroscopy and optical microscopy） and electrical properties （current-voltage characteristics） were monitored in situ. We observed an intensity decrease of the Raman modes of black phosphorus while the field-effect mobility and on/off ratio increased by 48% and 6,800%, respectively. The instability in ambient air limits the investigation and implementation of ultra-thin black phosphorus. However, the method reported in this study allowed us to start with thick black phosphorous flakes, providing a reliable approach for optimizing the electrical performance of black phosphorus-based electronic devices. We believe that these results can motivate further studies using mono- and few-layer black phosphorus.

The high-entropy alloy(HEA)superconductor,Ta_(1/6)Nb_(2/6)Hf_(1/6)Zr_(1/6)Ti_(1/6)(Ta-Nb-Hf-Zr-Ti),is systematically studied to examine changes in superconducting critical properties,critical temperature(T_(c)),critical cur-rent density(J_(c)),and upper critical field(H_(c2)),concerning thermal treatment *** condi-tion affects Jc more significantly than T_(c)and H_(c2),with a large improvement of flux pinning force density(F_(p)).The Jc of bare sample is reduced to 10 A cm^(-2)at an applied magnetic field of approximately 1.5 T,whereas the sample annealed at 550℃for 12 h exhibits J_(c)>100 kA cm^(-2)up to around 4 ***,the Vickers hardness(HVIT)of the Ta-Nb-Hf-Zr-Ti HEA superconductor notably increases from∼384 to 528 HVIT following a 24-h annealing at 500℃.These results demonstrate that thermal annealing is a powerful process to optimize both the superconducting and mechanical properties of high-entropy alloy superconductors.

ZnO has been studied intensely for chemical sensors due to its high sensitivity and fast ***,we present a simple approach to precisely control oxygen vacancy contents to provide significantly enhanced acetone sensing performance of commercial ZnO nanopowders.A combination of H_(2)O_(2)treatment and thermal annealing produces optimal surface defects with oxygen vacancies on the ZnO nanoparticles(NPs).The highest response of~27,562 was achieved for 10 ppm acetone in 0.125 MH_(2)O_(2)treated/annealed ZnO NPs at the optimal working temperature of 400℃,which is significantly higher than that of reported so far in various acetone sensors based on metal oxide semiconductors(MOSs).Furthermore,first-principles calculations indicate that pre-adsorbed O formed on the surface of H_(2)O_(2)treated ZnO NPs can provide favorable adsorption energy,especially for acetone detection,due to strong bidentate bonding between carbonyl C atom of acetone molecules and pre-adsorbed O on the ZnO *** study demonstrates that controlling surface oxygen vacancies by H_(2)O_(2)treatment and re-annealing at optimal temperature is an effective method to improve the sensing properties of commercial MOS materials.
