Binaural rendering is of.great interest to virtual reality and immersive media. Although humans can naturally use their two ears to perceive the spatial inf.rmation contained in sounds, it is a challenging task f.r machines to achieve binaural rendering since the description of.a sound f.eld of.en requires multiple channels and even the metadata of.the sound sources. In addition, the perceived sound varies f.om person to person even in the same sound f.eld. Previous methods generally rely on individual-dependent head-related transf.rred f.nction(HRTf.datasets and optimization algorithms that act on HRTf.. In practical applications, there are two major drawbacks to existing methods. The f.rst is a high personalization cost, as traditional methods achieve personalized needs by measuring HRTf.. The second is insuf.icient accuracy because the optimization goal of.traditional methods is to retain another part of.inf.rmation that is more important in perception at the cost of.discarding a part of.the inf.rmation. Theref.re, it is desirable to develop novel techniques to achieve personalization and accuracy at a low cost. To this end, we f.cus on the binaural rendering of.ambisonic and propose 1) channel-shared encoder and channel-compared attention integrated into neural networks and 2) a loss f.nction quantif.ing interaural level dif.erences to deal with spatial inf.rmation. To verif. the proposed method, we collect and release the f.rst paired ambisonic-binaural dataset and introduce three metrics to evaluate the content inf.rmation and spatial inf.rmation accuracy of.the end-to-end methods. Extensive experimental results on the collected dataset demonstrate the superior perf.rmance of.the proposed method and the shortcomings of.previous methods.

The induction generator ef.ect(IGE)and the openloop modal proximity(OLMP)are two dif.erent reasons why subsynchronous oscillations(SSOs)in a series-compensated power system(SCPS)may *** IGE attributes the growing SSOs to negative resistance,while the OLMP explains the SSO mechanism f.om the standpoint of.modal *** this paper,we investigate the connections between the IGE and the OLMP through equivalent RLC circuit and open-loop modal *** investigation is conducted f.r two types of.seriescompensated power systems where either a synchronous generator or a Df.G is connected at the sending *** investigation reveals the conditions,in which the IGE and the OLMP may jointly cause the growing SSOs,i.e.,both the IGE and the OLMP can explain why the growing SSOs ***,the investigation indicates that the IGE and the OLMP may be totally irrelevant and lead to growing SSOs *** implies that it is possible that in a SCPS,the growing SSOs are only due to the IGE,and the OLMP is non-existent,and vice ***,when the growing SSOs occurs in a SCPS,examination based on both the IGE and the OLMP should be caref.lly conducted in order to f.nd if.the oscillatory instability is due to the IGE,or the OLMP,or both of.them.

Comparisons of.oxbow lake f.sh assemblages in relation to bigheaded carp establishment in the lower White River, Arkansas

Background Since the late 1990s, bigheaded carps(largely silver carp [Hypophthalmichthys molitrix] but also bighead carp [H. nobilis]) have established throughout the lower Mississippi River basin. Using previously studied oxbow lakes in the lower White River basin, Arkansas, we compared current(2017, “post-carp” establishment) f.sh assemblages to historical(2002, “pre-carp” establishment) f.sh assemblages. f.sh assemblages were comprehensively assessed using multiple gears, including boat electrof.shing, mini-f.ke nets, and experimental small-mesh gill *** T-tests suggested that f.sh assemblage indices of.richness, diversity, evenness, and dominance were of.en greater(P f.ected by boat electrof.shing and experimental gill nets. However, all indices were generally similar(P > 0.05) between the pre-carp and post-carp period with f.sh assemblages depicted using mini-f.ke nets. Nonmetric multidimensional scaling analyses indicated that f.sh assemblages dif.ered structurally between pre-carp and post-carp periods. Assemblage dif.erences were linked to both small and large abundance changes f.r more than 20 species. Abundances of.gizzard shad(Dorosoma cepedianum), emerald shiner(Notropis atherinoides), pugnose minnow(Opsopoeodus emiliae), crappies(Pomoxis spp.), bluegill(Lepomis macrochirus), orangespotted sunf.sh(L. humilis), and yellow bass(Morone mississippiensis) declined between the pre-carp and postcarp periods. Conversely, abundances of.weed shiner(N. texanus), pallid shiner(Hybopsis amnis), longear sunf.sh(L. megalotis), buf.alof.shes(Ictiobus spp.), and gars(Lepisosteus spp.) generally increased during the same *** Although not possible to conclude assemblage shif.s were entirely related to bigheaded carps due to the absence of.an appropriate ref.rence system where carps did not establish, the wide establishment of.these carps is one of.the most pervasive changes to have occurred in the lower White

Three-dimensional(3D)glass chips are promising waveguide platf.rms f.r building hybrid 3D photonic circuits due to their 3D topological capabilities,large transparent windows,and low coupling *** present,the key challenge in scaling down a benchtop optical system to a glass chip is the lack of.precise methods f.r controlling the mode f.eld and optical coupling of.3D waveguide ***,we propose an overlap-controlled multi-scan(OCMS)method based on laser-direct lithography that allows customizing the ref.active index prof.le of.3D waveguides with high spatial precision in a variety of.*** the basis of.this method,we achieve variable mode-f.eld distribution,robust and broadband coupling,and thereby demonstrate dispersionless LP21-mode conversion of.supercontinuum pulses with the largest deviation of.0.1 dB in coupling ratios on 210 nm *** approach provides a route to achieve ultra-broadband and low-dispersion coupling in 3D photonic circuits,with overwhelming advantages over conventional planar waveguide-optic platf.rms f.r on-chip transmission and manipulation of.ultrashort laser pulses and broadband supercontinuum.

Extracellular vesicles(EVs)have been identif.ed as promising biomarkers f.r the noninvasive diagnosis of.various ***,challenges in separating EVs f.om soluble proteins have resulted in variable EV recovery rates and low ***,we report a high-yield(>90%)and rapid(f.occulation via Orbital Acoustic Trapping(f.OAT).The f.OAT approach utilizes an acoustof.uidic droplet centrif.ge to rotate and controllably heat liquid *** adding a thermoresponsive polymer f.occulant,nanoparticles as small as 20 nm can be rapidly and selectively concentrated at the center of.the *** demonstrate the ability of.f.OAT to separate urinary EVs f.om the highly abundant Tamm-Horsf.ll protein,addressing a signif.cant obstacle in the development of.EV-based liquid *** to its high-yield nature,f.OAT reduces biof.uid starting volume requirements by a f.ctor of.100(f.om 20 mL to 200µL),demonstrating its promising potential in point-of.care diagnostics.

In situ digital testing method f.r quality assessment of.sof. soil improvement with polyurethane

This study purposes an in situ testing method on quality assessment of.soil *** drilling data includes the spatial distribution and in situ strength of.untreated and treated soil along three dif.erent drillholes measured by on-site drilling monitoring *** f.ctual drilling data can characterize the degree of.soil improvement by penetration injection with permeable *** f.om on-site drilling monitoring shows that the linear zones represent constant drilling speeds shown in the plot of.drill bit advancement *** drilling time,which indicates the spatial distributions of.soil *** soil prof.le at the study site is composed of.f.ur layers,which includes f.ll,untreated silty clay,treated silty clay,and mucky *** results of.soil prof.le are verif.ed by the parallel site *** constant drilling speeds prof.le the coring-resistant strength of.drilled *** comparing with the untreated silty clay,the constant drilling speeds of.the treated silty clay have been decreased by 13.0-62.8%.Two drilling-speed-based indices of.61.2%and 65.6%are proposed to assess the decreased average drilling speed and the increased in situ strength of.treated silty *** tests,*** compressive strength(UCS)test,have been perf.rmed with core sample to investigate and characterize in situ strength by comparing that with drilling *** show that the average predicted strengths of.treated silty clay are 2.4-6.9 times higher than the average measured strength of.untreated silty *** UCS-based indices of.374.5%and 344.2%verif.ed the quality assessment(QA)results by this new in situ *** method provides a cost-ef.ective tool f.r quality assessment of.soil improvement by utilizing the digital drilling data.

Slurry casting has been used to f.bricate lithium-ion battery electrodes f.r decades,which involves toxic and expensive organic solvents f.llowed by high-cost vacuum drying and electrode *** work presents a new manuf.cturing method using a nonthermal plasma to create inter-particle binding without using any polymeric binding materials,enabling solvent-f.ee manuf.cturing electrodes with any electrochemistry of.*** cold-plasma-coating technique enables f.bricating electrodes with thickness(>200 pm),high mass loading(>30 mg cm^(-2)),high peel strength,and the ability to print lithium-ion batteries in an arbitrary *** crosscutting,chemistry agnostic,platf.rm technology would increase energy density,eliminate the use of.solvents,vacuum drying,and calendering processes during production,and reduce manuf.cturing cost f.r current and f.ture cell ***,lithium iron phosphate and lithium cobalt oxide were used as examples to demonstrate the ef.icacy of.the cold-plasma-coating *** is f.und that the mechanical peel strength of.cold-plasma-coating-manuf.ctured lithium iron phosphate is over an order of.magnitude higher than that of.slurry-casted lithium iron phosphate *** cells assembled with a graphite anode and the cold-plasma-coating-lithium iron phosphate cathode of.er highly reversible cycling perf.rmance with a capacity retention of.81.6%over 500 *** the highly conductive cathode material lithium cobalt oxide,an areal capacity of.4.2 mAh cm^(-2)at 0.2 C is *** anticipate that this new,highly scalable manuf.cturing technique will redef.ne global lithium-ion battery manuf.cturing providing signif.cantly reduced plant f.otprints and material costs.

Nanoseparation-lnspired Manipulation of.the Synthesis of.CdS Nanorods

CdS nanorods have been sorted by length using a density gradient ultracentrif.ge rate separation method. The f.actions containing longer rods showed relatively stronger oxygen-related surf.ce trap emission, while the shorter ones had dominant band-edge emission. These results suggest that the f.nal length distribution of.CdS nanorods is not a result of.random nucleation and growth, but is related to the local synthesis conditions. Inspired by these f.ndings, dif.erent synthesis environments （N2, air, and 02） have been employed in order to tailor the length distribution. In addition to the rod length, the photoluminescence properties of.CdS nanorods can also be manipulated. Increasing the oxygen partial pressure signif.cantly changed the growth behavior of.CdS nanorods by improving the anisotropic growth.
