Oxide-supported metal catalysts for anaerobic NAD+regeneration with concurrent hydrogen production

We report SiO_(2)-supported monometallic Pt,Pd,Au,Ni,Cu and Co catalysts for proton-driven NAD+regeneration,co-producing H_(2).All metals are fully selective to NAD+where the order of turnover frequencies(Pt>Pd>Cu>Au,Ni and Co)coincides with those otherwise observed in electrochemical hydrogen evolution reactions.This has revealed that NADH is capable of converting the metal sites into a“cathode”without an external potential and the NADH to NAD+reaction involves transferring electron and hydrogen atom separately.Electron-deficient Ptδ+(on CeO_(2))enhances TOF and the heterogeneous Pt/CeO_(2) catalyst is recyclable without losing any activity/selectivity.

The Qinling orogen in central China contains several black shale-hosted gold deposits, but the age of their formation and a possible relation between gold mineralization and regional tectonism remain undetermined. Here we present results of in situ monazite U-Th-Pb dating and sericite Rb-Sr dating of the Xiajiadian black shale-hosted gold deposit to provide tight constraints on the time of gold deposition and information on the tectonic setting under which the deposit formed. The Xiajiadian gold deposit is mainly hosted in black shales of the Lower Cambrian Shuigoukou formation, with minor ores contained in sandy conglomerate of the Lower Devonian Xichahe formation. Gold ores in the black shales have been intensively oxidized and consist mainly of hematite, goethite, gypsum, quartz, calcite, native gold, and unrecognized iron oxides. However, gold ores in the sandy conglomerate are free of oxidation and thus provide an opportunity to date the formation of the Xiajiadian gold deposit.The ores consist of pyrite, marcasite, sericite, and quartz, which are associated with a variety of accessory minerals, including monazite, apatite, and titanite. Gold is mainly present as structure-bound ions or nanoparticles in pyrite and marcasite, but minor native gold grains also occur as inclusions in pyrite. Monazite is well developed in the ores, and has close textural association with Au-bearing pyrite and marcasite. Most monazite grains have zoned textures consisting of a core area（Mnz1） and an overgrowth zone（Mnz2）. Mnz1 contains 4.8–13 wt.% ThO2and shows large variations in HREE and prominent negative Eu anomalies in the chondrite-normalized REE patterns. It yields common lead-corrected208Pb/232Th dates ranging from 910±10 to416±4 Ma（2σ）. These dates are interpreted in terms of a detrital origin for monazite in the core area. Mnz2 has much lower ThO2contents of 0.8–1.7 wt.% and shows weak negative Eu anomalies in the chondrite-normalized REE patterns. This article addresses the issues of falling into local optima and insufficient exploration capability in the Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA), proposing an improved Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm with a multi-strategy mechanism (BSFAOA). This algorithm introduces three strategies within the standard AOA framework: an adaptive balance factor SMOA based on sine functions, a search strategy combining Spiral Search and Brownian Motion, and a hybrid perturbation strategy based on Whale Fall Mechanism and Polynomial Differential Learning. The BSFAOA algorithm is analyzed in depth on the well-known 23 benchmark functions, CEC2019 test functions, and four real optimization problems. The experimental results demonstrate that the BSFAOA algorithm can better balance the exploration and exploitation capabilities, significantly enhancing the stability, convergence mode, and search efficiency of the AOA algorithm.

Regulation of PM_(2.5)on mitochondrial damage in H9c2 cells through miR-421/SIRT3 pathway and protective effect of miR-421 inhibitor and resveratrol

Fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))exposure is associated with cardiovascular disease(CVD)morbidity and mortality.Mitochondria are sensitive targets of PM_(2.5),and mitochondrial dysfunction is closely related to the occurrence of CVD.The epigenetic mechanism of PM_(2.5)-triggered mitochondrial injury of cardiomyocytes is unclear.This study focused on the mi R-421/SIRT3 signaling pathway to investigate the regulatory mechanism in cardiac mitochondrial dynamics imbalance in rat H9c2 cells induced by PM_(2.5).Results illustrated that PM_(2.5)impaired mitochondrial function and caused dynamics homeostasis imbalance.Besides,PM_(2.5)up-regulated mi R-421 and down-regulated SIRT3 gene expression,along with decreasing p-FOXO3a(SIRT3 downstream target gene)and p-Parkin expression and triggering abnormal expression of fusion gene OPA1 and fission gene Drp1.Further,mi R-421 inhibitor(mi R-421i)and resveratrol significantly elevated the SIRT3 levels in H9c2 cells after PM_(2.5)exposure and mediated the expression of SOD2,OPA1 and Drp1,restoring the mitochondrial morphology and function.It suggests that mi R-421/SIRT3 pathway plays an epigenetic regulatory role in mitochondrial damage induced by PM_(2.5)and that mi R-421i and resveratrol exert protective effects against PM_(2.5)-incurred cardiotoxicity.

The grouted bolt,combining rock bolting with grouting techniques,provides an effective solution for controlling the surrounding rock in deep soft rock and fractured roadways.It has been extensively applied in numerous deep mining areas characterized by soft rock roadways,where it has demonstrated remarkable control results.This article systematically explores the evolution of grouted bolting,covering its theoretical foundations,design methods,materials,construction processes,monitoring measures,and methods for assessing its effectiveness.The overview encompassed several key elements,delving into anchoring theory and grouting reinforcement theory.The new principle of high pretensioned high-pressure splitting grouted bolting collaborative active control is introduced.A fresh method for dynamic information design is also highlighted.The discussion touches on both conventional grouting rock bolts and cable bolts,as well as innovative grouted rock bolts and cables characterized by their high pretension,strength,and sealing hole pressure.An examination of the merits and demerits of standard inorganic and organic grouting materials versus the new inorganic–organic composite materials,including their specific application conditions,was conducted.Additionally,the article presents various methods and instruments to assess the support effect of grouting rock bolts,cable bolts,and grouting reinforcement.Furthermore,it provides a foundation for understanding the factors influencing decisions on grouted bolting timing,the sequence of grouting,the pressure applied,the volume of grout used,and the strategic arrangement of grouted rock bolts and cable bolts.The application of the high pretensioned high-pressure splitting grouted bolting collaborative control technology in a typical kilometer-deep soft rock mine in China—the soft coal seam and soft rock roadway in the Kouzidong coal mine,Huainan coal mining area,was introduced.Finally,the existing problems in grouted bolting control technology for deep soft rock roadways are analy

Neural stem cells promote neuroplasticity: a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease

Recent studies have demonstrated that neuroplasticity,such as synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis,exists throughout the normal lifespan but declines with age and is significantly impaired in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.Hence,promoting neuroplasticity may represent an effective strategy with which Alzheimer’s disease can be alleviated.Due to their significant ability to self-renew,differentiate,and migrate,neural stem cells play an essential role in reversing synaptic and neuronal damage,reducing the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease,including amyloid-β,tau protein,and neuroinflammation,and secreting neurotrophic factors and growth factors that are related to plasticity.These events can promote synaptic plasticity and neurogenesis to repair the microenvironment of the mammalian brain.Consequently,neural stem cells are considered to represent a potential regenerative therapy with which to improve Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.In this review,we discuss how neural stem cells regulate neuroplasticity and optimize their effects to enhance their potential for treating Alzheimer’s disease in the clinic.

Influence of ambient temperature on the CO_(2)emitted of light-duty vehicle

Because of global warming,people have paid more attention to greenhouse gas emitted by vehicles.To quantify the impact of temperature on vehicle CO_(2)emissions,this study was conducted using the world light vehicle test cycle on two light-duty E10 gasoline vehicles a ambient temperatures of-10,0,23,and 40℃,and found that CO_(2)emission factors of Vehicle1 in the low-speed phase were 22.07%and 20.22%higher than those of Vehicle 2 at cold star and hot start under-10℃.The reason was vehicle 1 had a larger displacement and more friction pairs than vehicle 2.There was the highest CO_(2)emission at the low-speed phase due to low average speed,frequent acceleration,and deceleration.The CO_(2)temperature factor and the ambient temperature had a strong linear correlation(R2=0.99).According to CO_(2)temperature factors and their relationships,CO_(2)emission factors of other ambien temperatures could be calculated when the CO_(2)emission factor of 23℃was obtained,and the method also could be used to obtain the CO_(2)temperature factors of different vehicles.To separate the effect of load setting and temperature variation on CO_(2)emission quantitatively a method was proposed.And results showed that the load setting was dominant for the CO_(2)emission variation.Compared with 23℃,the CO_(2)emission for vehicle 1 caused by load setting variation were 62.83 and 47.42 g/km,respectively at-10 and 0℃,while those fo vehicle 2 were 45.01 and 35.63 g/km,respectively.

Mobile telemedicine systems based on the next-generation communication will significantly enhance deep fusion of network automation and federated learning(FL), but data privacy is a paramount issue in sectors like healthcare. This work hence considers FL augments 5G-and-beyond networks by training deep learning(DL) models without the need to exchange raw data. The substantial communication loads imposed on by extensive parameters involved in DL models are managed through adaptive scheduling mechanisms effectively. To address the opaque nature of DL models and to improve the interpretability of FL models, we introduce a convolutional fuzzy rough neural network specifically designed for medical image processing. We also develop a multiobjective memetic evolutionary algorithm to streamline and optimize the neural network architectures. Our comprehensive FL framework integrates smart scheduling, interpretable fuzzy rough logic,and neuroevolution. This framework is shown to improve communication efficiency, increase interpretability of diagnosis with protected privacy, and generate low-complexity neural architectures.

Particulate pollution is a global risk factor that seriously threatens human health.Fine particles(FPs)and ultrafine particles(UFPs)have small particle diameters and large specific surface areas,which can easily adsorb metals,microorganisms and other pollutants.FPs and UFPs can enter the human body in multiple ways and can be easily and quickly absorbed by the cells,tissues and organs.In the body,the particles can induce oxidative stress,inflammatory response and apoptosis,furthermore causing great adverse effects.Epidemiological studies mainly take the population as the research object to study the distribution of diseases and health conditions in a specific population and to focus on the identification of influencing factors.However,the mechanism by which a substance harms the health of organisms is mainly demonstrated through toxicological studies.Combining epidemiological studies with toxicological studies will provide a more systematic and comprehensive understanding of the impact of PM on the health of organisms.In this review,the sources,compositions,and morphologies of FPs and UFPs are briefly introduced in the first part.The effects and action mechanisms of exposure to FPs and UFPs on the heart,lungs,brain,liver,spleen,kidneys,pancreas,gastrointestinal tract,joints and reproductive system are systematically summarized.In addition,challenges are further pointed out at the end of the paper.This work provides useful theoretical guidance and a strong experimental foundation for investigating and preventing the adverse effects of FPs and UFPs on human health.
