Clinical heterogeneity and five phenotypes identified in pediatric Behçet’s syndrome: a cohort study from Shanghai Behçet’s syndrome database

Objectives Behçet’s syndrome(BS)is a rare disease of unknown etiology,with limited reports especially in pediatric *** clinical characteristics and phenotypes of pediatric BS as a highly heterogeneous variable vessel vasculitis were investigated in this *** A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare clinical variables and descriptive characteristics of BS by age of onset and *** analysis was then performed to identify the phenotypes of pediatric *** A total of 2082 BS patients were included in this study,1834 adults and 248 *** with adult-onset BS,pediatric BS had a higher incidence of folliculitis[relative risks(RR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)1.3(1.0–1.5)],uveitis of the left eye[RR and 95%CI 2.3(1.0–5.0)],intestinal ulcer complications[RR and 95%CI 2.1(1.1–4.2)],pericarditis[RR and 95%CI 2.5(1.0–6.2)],and psychiatric disorders[RR and 95%CI 2.8(1.0–7.9)],while the incidence of thrombocytopenia was lower[RR 0.2(0.1–1.0)].Among pediatric BS,females had more genital ulcers,while males were more likely to have skin lesions,panuveitis,vascular involvement,venous lesions,cardiac involvement,and aortic *** analysis classified pediatric BS into five clusters(C1–C5):C1(n=61,24.6%)showed gastrointestinal(GI)involvement;C2(n=44,17.7%)was the central nervous system(CNS)type where 23 cases overlapped joint involvement;in C3(n=35,14.1%),all patients presented with arthritis or arthralgia;all patients in C4(n=29,11.7%)manifested ocular involvement,with a few patients overlapping with GI involvement or joint damage;C5(n=79,31.9%)was the mucocutaneous type,presenting both oral ulcers,genital ulcers,and skin *** The clinical features of pediatric and adult BS differ *** and female pediatric BS also have a distinct *** phenotypes including GI,CNS,joint,ocular,and mucocutaneous types were identified for pediatric BS.

Preparation of hollow ceramic microspheres absorbent based on self-reactive quenching technology

A1 ＋ BaO2 ＋ Fe2O3 ＋ sucrose and O2 as reaction system and feeding gas, respectively, are used to prepare hollow multiphase ceramic microspheres （HMCMs） absorbent based on self-reactive quenching technology. The morphologies, particle size distribution, hollow structure and phase compositions were characterized by scanning electron microscope （SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and size analysis. The results show that the quenching products possess high sphere-forming rate, and most of them are hollow structures. Owing to the self-burst, the particle size is between 40 and 70 μm. The phase compositions contain Al2O3, Fe3O4, Fe2O3, Ba2Fe14O22, BaO2 and BaFe4O7. The microwave absorbing tests show that the lowest reflectivity of HMCMs is -19 dB. The frequency bands less than -10 dB are from 13.0 to 15.8 GHz. The reasons for HMCMs possessing good microwave absorbing properties may be their magnetic and electrical properties as well as special hollow structure.

Role of oxygen vacancy inducer for graphene in graphene-containing anodes

Currently,graphene is only considered as a conductive additive and expansion inhibitor in oxides/graphene composite *** this study,a new graphene role(oxygen vacancy inducer)in graphene/oxides composites anodes,which are treated at high-temperature,is proposed and verified using experiments and density functional theory *** high-temperature processing,graphene forms carbon vacancies due to increased thermal vibration,and the carbon vacancies capture oxygen atoms,facilitating the formation of oxygen vacancies in ***,the induced oxygen vacancy concentrations can be regulated by sintering temperatures,and the behavior is unaffected by oxide crystal structures(crystalline and amorphous)and morphology(size and shape).According to density functional theory calculations and electrochemical measurements,the oxygen vacancies enhance the lithiumion storage *** findings can result in a better understanding of graphene’s roles in graphene/oxide composite anodes,and provide a new method for designing high-performance oxide anodes.

Application of calcium alumino-titanate to taphole clay

Calcium alumino-titanate(CAT)can be used as a raw material owing to its excellent refractoriness and thermal ***-containing taphole clay(THC)with different particle sizes was prepared and *** results indicated that THC with CAT aggregate has better thermo-mechanical performance than that with a fine CAT powder because of different sintering *** CAT aggregate and SiO_(2)reacted and formed liquid phase covering their surface,enhancing the bonding of the particle–matrix and promoting the internal transformation of the ***,the mullite was formed in aggregate with the interwoven network *** CAT powder has a higher specific surface area,and its surface energy decreases with the particle *** could cause a reaction between CAT and SiO_(2)at relatively low temperature,making it unable to form a core–shell structure similar to that of the aggregate,with the excessive liquid phase affecting the performance of the ***,the liquid phase was formed to close the pores and cover the SiC surface,and this was found to enhance the oxidation resistance.A corrosion test confirmed that the THC refractories with CAT aggregates showed better corrosion resistance than other *** electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectrometry results indicated that Ti(C,N)transformed by TiO_(2)in CAT was deposited at the interface between the molten slag and the refractory,and it efficiently prevented the penetration and reaction owing to its high melting point and small wetting angle with the slag.

Polyoxometalates (POMs),a class of discrete anionic metal oxides in groups V and VI,are constructed via the con- densation of metal oxide polyhedral (MOx,M=W^vI,Mo^vI, Vv,Nb,Ta,*** x=4-7)with each other in a comer-, edge-,or rarely in a face-sharing manner [1-3].Up to now, the broadening family of POM derivatives ranges from small size clusters to nanoscale giant aggregates,which have shown impressive chemical and physical properties and great potential in fields of catalysis,magnetism,medicine,photochemistry,environment,energy and materials science [4,5].Latest progress on POMs chemistry is directed to the construction of high-nnclearity clusters and the exploration of functional applications in energy chemistry,catalysis,and self-assembly (Figure 1).

Cure of a New Type Composite on Noise Control and Effect of Filler Modification

A new type composite of high efficiency sound attenuation was cured. The superfine tungsten powder, plasticizerand stabilizer are added into the PVC resin and blended in the mixing chamber of a HAAKE rheometer. The effect ofthe filler modification is considered in the composite cure. The properties of modified composite and unmodified oneare studied by SEM morphology viewing, acoustic and mechanical measurement. The test results indicate that thereason of the better soundproof and mechanical properties is the particle uniform dispersion and stronger adhesion.

Simulation Study of Shock Reaction on Porous Material

Direct modeling of porous materials under shock is a complex issue. We investigate such a system via the newly developed material-point method. The effects of shock strength and porosity size are the main concerns. For the same porosity, the effects of mean-void-size are checked. It is found that local turbulence mixing and volume dissipation are two important mechanisms for transformation of kinetic energy to heat. When the porosity is very small, the shocked portion may arrive at a dynamical steady state; the voids in the downstream portion reflect back rarefactive waves and result in slight oscillations of mean density and pressure; for the same value of porosity, a larger mean-void-size makes a higher mean temperature. When the porosity becomes large, hydrodynamic quantities vary with time during the whole shock-loading procedure： after the initial stage, the mean density and pressure decrease, but the temperature increases with a higher rate. The distributions of local density, pressure, temperature and particle-velocity are generally non-Gaussian and vary with time. The changing rates depend on the porosity value, mean-void-size and shock strength. The stronger the loaded shock, the stronger the porosity effects. This work provides a supplement to experiments for the very quick procedures and reveals more fundamental mechanisms in energy and momentum transportation.
