Large deflection deformation behavior of a Zr-based bulk metallic glass for compliant spinal fixation application

A novel compliant spinal fixation designed based on the concept of compliant mechanisms can reduce the stress-shielding effect and adjacent segment degeneration(ASD)effectively,but propose higher requirements for the properties of the used *** metallic glasses(BMGs),as a kind of young biomaterials,exhibiting excellent comprehensive properties,which are attractive for compliant spinal ***,according to the practical service condition of the basic elements in compliant spinal fixation,large deflection deformation behaviors of Zr_(61.Ti_(2)Cu_(25)Al_(1.)(at.%,ZT1.BMG beam,including elastic,yielding and plastic were investigated *** was shown that the theoretical nonlinear analytical solution curve as the benchmark not only with the capacity to predict the nonlinear load-deflection relation within the elastic deformation regime,but also assists to capture the yielding event roughly,which can be used as a powerful design tool for *** capture the beginning of the yielding event exactly,bending proof strength(σ_(p),0.05%)accompanied with tiny permanent strain of 0.05% was proposed and determined for BMGs in biomedical implant applications,which is of significance for setting the allowable operating limits of the basic flexible *** approach of interrupted loading-unloading cycles,plastic deformation driven by the bending moment can be classified into two typical stages:the initial stage which mainly characterized by the nucleation and intense interaction of abundant shear bands when the plastic strain below the critical value,and the second stage which dominated by the progressive propagation of shear bands and coupled with the emergence of shear offsets on tensile *** plasticity of BMG beam structures depends on the BMG's inherent plastic zone size(rp).When the half beam thickness less than that of the rp,the plastic deformation of BMGs will behave in a stable manner,which can be acted as the margin of safety effectiv

Olefin polymerization is one of the most im portant chemical reactions in *** work presents a strategy that emphasizes the synergistic meta/poro-steric hindrance of N-aryl groups and electronic effects in newly synthesized neutral salicylaldiminato nickel *** nickel(Ⅱ)catalysts exhibit exceptional thermostability,ranging from 30℃to 1.0℃,demonstrating enhanced catalytic activities and broadly regulated polyethylene molecular weights(3-341.kg·mol^(-1.)and controlled polymer branch density(2-1.2 brs/1.00C).The preferred catalyst Ni3 with concerted steric and electronic effects enables the production of solid-state semi-crystalline polyethylene materials at temperatures below 90℃.Notably,Ni3 exhibits an impressive tolerance of 1.0℃and can withstand even the challenging polymerization temperature of 1.0℃,leading to the production of polyethylene wax and ***,functionalized polyethylene is produced.

Hydrodynamic characteristics and particle tracking of 90° lateral intakes at an inclined river slope

Lateral intakes are common in *** pump effciency and sediment deposition are determined by the local hydrodynamic characteristics and mainstream division *** hydraulic characteristics of lateral withdrawal from inclined river slopes at different intake elevations should be ***,the division width exhibits significant vertical non-uniformity at an inclined river slope,which should be ***,a three-dimensional(3-D)hydrodynamic and particle-tracking model was developed with the Open Source Field Operation and Manipulation(Open FOAM),and the model was validated with physical model tests for 90°lateral withdrawal from an inclined side *** flow fields,withdrawal sources,and division widths were investigated with different intake bottom elevations,withdrawal discharges,and main channel *** study showed that under inclined side bank conditions,water entered the intake at an oblique angle,causing significant 3-D spiral flows in the intake rather than two-dimensional closed recirculation.A lower withdrawal discharge,a lower bottom elevation of the intake,or a higher main channel velocity could further strengthen this *** average division width and turbulent kinetic energy were smaller under inclined side bank conditions than under vertical bank *** a low intake bottom elevation,a low withdrawal discharge,or a high main channel velocity,the sources of lateral withdrawal were in similar ranges near the local inclined bank in the vertical *** inclined slope conditions,sediment deposition near the intake entrance could be reduced,compared to that under vertical slope *** results provide hydrodynamic and sediment references for engineering designs for natural rivers with inclined terrains.

Clinical heterogeneity and five phenotypes identified in pediatric Behçet’s syndrome: a cohort study from Shanghai Behçet’s syndrome database

Objectives Behçet’s syndrome(BS)is a rare disease of unknown etiology,with limited reports especially in pediatric *** clinical characteristics and phenotypes of pediatric BS as a highly heterogeneous variable vessel vasculitis were investigated in this *** A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare clinical variables and descriptive characteristics of BS by age of onset and *** analysis was then performed to identify the phenotypes of pediatric *** A total of 2082 BS patients were included in this study,1.34 adults and 248 *** with adult-onset BS,pediatric BS had a higher incidence of folliculitis[relative risks(RR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)1.3(1.0–1.5)],uveitis of the left eye[RR and 95%CI 2.3(1.0–5.0)],intestinal ulcer complications[RR and 95%CI 2.1.1.1.4.2)],pericarditis[RR and 95%CI 2.5(1.0–6.2)],and psychiatric disorders[RR and 95%CI 2.8(1.0–7.9)],while the incidence of thrombocytopenia was lower[RR 0.2(0.1.1.0)].Among pediatric BS,females had more genital ulcers,while males were more likely to have skin lesions,panuveitis,vascular involvement,venous lesions,cardiac involvement,and aortic *** analysis classified pediatric BS into five clusters(C1.C5):C1.n=61.24.6%)showed gastrointestinal(GI)involvement;C2(n=44,1..7%)was the central nervous system(CNS)type where 23 cases overlapped joint involvement;in C3(n=35,1..1.),all patients presented with arthritis or arthralgia;all patients in C4(n=29,1..7%)manifested ocular involvement,with a few patients overlapping with GI involvement or joint damage;C5(n=79,31.9%)was the mucocutaneous type,presenting both oral ulcers,genital ulcers,and skin *** The clinical features of pediatric and adult BS differ *** and female pediatric BS also have a distinct *** phenotypes including GI,CNS,joint,ocular,and mucocutaneous types were identified for pediatric BS.

Artificial neural network-based method for discriminating Compton scattering events in high-purity germaniumγ-ray spectrometer

To detect radioactive substances with low activity levels,an anticoincidence detector and a high-purity germanium(HPGe)detector are typically used simultaneously to suppress Compton scattering background,thereby resulting in an extremely low detection limit and improving the measurement ***,the complex and expensive hardware required does not facilitate the application or promotion of this ***,a method is proposed in this study to discriminate the digital waveform of pulse signals output using an HPGe detector,whereby Compton scattering background is suppressed and a low minimum detectable activity(MDA)is achieved without using an expensive and complex anticoincidence detector and *** electric-field-strength and energy-deposition distributions of the detector are simulated to determine the relationship between pulse shape and energy-deposition location,as well as the characteristics of energy-deposition distributions for fulland partial-energy deposition *** relationship is used to develop a pulse-shape-discrimination algorithm based on an artificial neural network for pulse-feature *** accurately determine the relationship between the deposited energy of gamma(γ)rays in the detector and the deposition location,we extract four shape parameters from the pulse signals output by the *** learning is used to input the four shape parameters into the ***,the pulse signals are identified and classified to discriminate between partial-and full-energy deposition *** partial-energy deposition events are removed to suppress Compton *** proposed method effectively decreases the MDA of an HPGeγ-energy dispersive *** results show that the Compton suppression factors for energy spectra obtained from measurements on ^(1.2)Eu,^(1.7)Cs,and ^(60)Co radioactive sources are 1.1.(344 keV),1.1.(662 keV),and 1.08(1.32 keV),respectively,and that the corresponding MDAs are 1.4%,5.
