A new approach for flow simulation in complex hydraulic fracture morphology and its application:Fracture connection element method

Nano-silica modified lightweight and high-toughness carbon fiber/phenolic ablator with excellent thermal insulation and ablation performance

Lightweight and high-toughness carbon fiber/phenolic ablator(CFPA)is required as the Thermal Protection System(TPS)material of aerospace vehicles for next-generation space *** improve the ablative properties,silica sol with good particle size distribution prepared using tetramethoxysilane(TMOS)was blended with natural rubber latex and deposited onto carbon fiber felt,which was then integrated with phenolic aerogel matrix,introducing nano-silica into the framework of *** modified CFPA with a low density of 0.28—0.31 g/cm3exhibits strain-in-fracture as high as 31.2%and thermal conductivity as low as 0.054 W/(m·K).Furthermore,a trace amount of nano-silica could effectively protect CFPA from erosion of oxidizing atmosphere in different high-temperature *** oxyacetylene ablation test of 3000°C for 20 s shows a mass ablation rate of 0.0225 g/s,a linear ablation rate of 0.209 mm/s for the modified CFPA,which are 9.64%and 24.82%lower than the unmodified ***,the long-time butane ablation test of 1200°C for 200 s shows an insignificant recession with mass and linear ablation rate of 0.079 g/s and 0.039 mm/s,16.84%and 13.33%lower than the unmodified ***,the fixed thermocouple in the test also demonstrates a good thermal insulation performance with a low peak back-face temperature of 207.7°C,12.25%lower than the unmodified ***,the nano-silica modified CFPA with excellent overall performance presents promising prospects in high-temperature aerospace applications.

Improvement of impact properties of Al-Si-Mg alloy via solution treatment and joint modification with Sr and La

An effort to obtain superior impact properties for Al-7Si-0.35 Mg alloy is presented,where modification with 0.02 wt% Sr and 0.1 wt% La as well as solution treatment was jointly *** samples were solution treated at 535℃ for 15 min to 12 *** microstructure,fracture mechanism,and their correlation with the impact properties of the alloy were studied in detail mainly through optical microscopy（OM）,scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and oscillography impact *** results show that the addition of Sr and La refined the eutectic Si particles significantly from～ 2.05 μm（modified with Sr alone） to～ 0.75 μm in as-cast microstructure,leading to a very homogeneous distribution of spheroidized Si particles in the alloy solution treated at 535℃ for 8 *** alloy exhibits excellent impact toughness up to 75 J·cm-2,which is much higher than the maximum impact toughness of the alloys modified by Sr alone(～ 46 J·cm-2).The major reason for this remarkable increase in the impact property is the dramatic increase in crack initiation *** dispersoid-free zones（DFZs）near the eutectic regions mainly consist of the ductile Al-matrix,which exhibits excellent *** ductile Al-matrix of the DFZs hinders the crack propagation,resulting in a significant increase in crack propagation energy.

Composite Thin-walled Lenticular Tube(CTLT)is increasingly utilized in small satellites missions as a lightweight,foldable,and rollable structural material that facilitates the construction of large deployable *** CTLT is initially flattened and coiled around a central hub for storage before launch,during which elastic energy is stored as deformation energy,allowing it to be self-deployed on demand for use in *** work presents a comprehensive investigation into the coiling,storage and deployment behaviors of CTLT that wraps around a central hub.A nonlinear explicit dynamic finite element model was developed with both deformable CTLT and rigidbodies mechanisms including the central hub and guide rollers,as well as the complex interactions among *** coiling mechanics characteristics such as stored strain energy and rotational moment were presented and validated against experimental data in the ***,the dynamic deployment behaviors were analyzed in terms of two different deployment methods,namely,controlled deployment and free *** effect of material property change during storage was also discussed through numerical experiments.

Genome-wide CRISPR screening reveals key genes and pathways associated with 20-hydroxyecdysone signal transduction in the silkworm(Bombyx mori)

Metamorphosis is a complex developmental process involving multiple pathways and a large number of genes that are regulated by juvenile hormone(JH)and 20-hydroxyecdysone(20E).Despite important progress in understanding various aspects of silkworm biology,the hormone signaling pathway in the silkworm remains poorly ***-wide screening using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)-based libraries has recently emerged as a novel method for analyzing genome function,enabling further research into essential genes,drug targets,and virus-host ***,we constructed a genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9-based library of the silkworm(Bombyx mori)and successfully revealed the genes involved in biotic or abiotic stress factor *** this study,we used our silkworm CRISPR library and large-scale genome-wide screening to analyze the key genes in the silkworm 20E signaling pathway and their mechanisms of *** annotation showed that 20E regulates key proteins in processes that mainly occur in the cytoplasm and *** enrichment analysis showed that 20E can activate phosphorylation and may affect innate immunity,interfere with intracellular nutrition and energy metabolism,and eventually cause cell *** screening results were experimentally validated by generating cells with knockout alleles of the relevant genes,which had increased tolerance to *** findings provide a panoramic overview of signaling in response to 20E in the silkworm,underscoring the utility of genome-wide CRISPR mutant libraries in deciphering hormone signaling pathways and the mechanisms that regulate metamorphosis in insects.

In view of the problem that the sensing characteristics of the multi-mode interferometric fiber sensors cannot be accurately analyzed,an analysis method based on the fast Fourier transform(FFT)and inverse fast Fourier transform(IFFT)is proposed and demonstrated theoretically and *** suitabilities of the rectangular window function with the narrow main lobe(high spectrum resolution)and low side lobe(high main mode energy leakage)and the Hanning window function with the wide main lobe(low spectrum resolution)and high side lobe(high energy concentration)in this kind of sensor analysis are discussed,*** method can not only realize the sensing performance analysis of the various modes,but also overcome the inconsistency of the different interference wavelength(dip)sensing characteristics in the conventional analysis *** the same time,this method is also beneficial to solve the repetitive problem of such sensors.

Gradient microstructure and superior strength-ductility synergy of AZ61 magnesium alloy bars processed by radial forging with different deformation temperatures

Gradient microstructure modification is a cost-efficient strategy for high strength without compromising ductility,which is urgently needed in the fundamental science of engineering *** this study,heterogeneous structures of AZ61 alloy bars with anisotropic gradients(with different grain size distributions from the surface to the center)were observed to exhibit strong strength-ductility synergies under different deformation tem *** results reveal that the grain refinement process under mediumlow temperature deformation conditions(≤350℃)consists of four transition stages along the radial direction,i.e.,twin activations and deformation band formations,dislocation cells and pile-ups,ultrafine sub-grains,and randomly orientated quasi-micron *** deformation temperatures have a great influence on twin activations and deformation band formations,and the high temperature can easily provoke the initiation of non-basal *** deformation bands were determined as a primary nucleation site due to their highly unstable dislocation hindrance *** in combination with the Radial forging(RF)deformation process,the differences of dynamic precipitates can be attributed to microstructural difference and solubility limit of Al at different tem *** summarizing the tensile test results,the sample forged at 350℃exhibited the best strength-ductility synergy,exhibiting the highest elongation(EL)of 23.2%with a 251 MPa yield strength(YS)and 394 MPa ultimate tensile strength(UTS)in center region,and combined with the highest strength value of 256 MPa YS and 420 MPa UTS in the center region,while the EL was slightly degraded to 19.8%.

Based on the characteristics of high-end products,crowd-sourcing user stories can be seen as an effective means of gathering requirements,involving a large user base and generating a substantial amount of unstructured *** key challenge lies in transforming abstract user needs into specific ones,requiring integration and ***,we propose a topic mining-based approach to categorize,summarize,and rank product requirements from user ***,after determining the number of story categories based on py LDAvis,we initially classify“I want to”phrases within user ***,classic topic models are applied to each category to generate their names,defining each post-classification user story category as a ***,a weighted ranking function is devised to calculate the importance of each ***,we validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method using 2966 crowd-sourced user stories related to smart home systems.

Experimental investigation on weak shock wave mitigation characteristics of flexible polyurethane foam and polyurea

In recent years,explosion shock wave has been considered as a signature injury of the current military *** strong shock wave is lethal to the human body,weak shock wave can cause many more lasting *** investigate the protection ability and characteristics of flexible materials and structures under weak shock wave loading,the blast wave produced by TNT explosive is loaded on the polyurethane foam with the density of 200.0 kg/m3(F-200)and 400.0 kg/m3(F-400),polyurea with the density of 1100.0 kg/m^(3)(P-1100)and structures composed of the two materials,which are intended for individual *** results indicate that the shock wave is attenuated to weak pressure disturbance after interacting with the flexible materials which are not *** shock wave protective capability of single-layer materials is dependent on their thickness,density and microscopic *** overpressure,maximum pressure rise rate and impulse of transmitted wave decrease exponentially with increase in sample *** the same thickness,F-400 provides better protective capability than F-200 while P-1100 shows the best protective capability among the three *** this study,as the materials are not destroyed,F-200 with a thickness more than10.0 mm,F-400 with a thickness more than 4.0 mm,and P-1100 with a thickness more than 1.0 mm can attenuate the overpressure amplitude more than 90.0%.Further,multi-layer flexible composites are *** layer layouts of designed structures and layer thickness of the single-layer materials can affect the protective *** the research range,the structure in which polyurea is placed on the impact side shows the optimal shock wave protective performance,and the thicknesses of polyurea and polyurethane foam are 1.0 mm and 4.0 mm *** overpressure attenuation rate reached maximum value of 93.3%and impulse attenuation capacity of this structure are better than those of s

PAPS: Progressive Attention-Based Pan-sharpening

Pan-sharpening aims to seek high-resolution multispectral(HRMS) images from paired multispectral images of low resolution(LRMS) and panchromatic(PAN) images, the key to which is how to maximally integrate spatial and spectral information from PAN and LRMS images. Following the principle of gradual advance, this paper designs a novel network that contains two main logical functions, i.e., detail enhancement and progressive fusion, to solve the problem. More specifically, the detail enhancement module attempts to produce enhanced MS results with the same spatial sizes as corresponding PAN images, which are of higher quality than directly up-sampling LRMS *** a better MS base(enhanced MS) and its PAN, we progressively extract information from the PAN and enhanced MS images, expecting to capture pivotal and complementary information of the two modalities for the purpose of constructing the desired HRMS. Extensive experiments together with ablation studies on widely-used datasets are provided to verify the efficacy of our design, and demonstrate its superiority over other state-of-the-art methods both quantitatively and qualitatively.
