The accessory olfactory bulb(AOB), located at the posterior dorsal aspect of the main olfactory bulb(MOB), is the first brain relay of the accessory olfactory system(AOS), which can parallelly detect and process volatile and nonvolatile social chemosignals and mediate different sexual and social behaviors with the main olfactory system(MOS). However, due to its anatomical location and absence of specific markers, there is a lack of research on the internal and external neural circuits of the AOB. This issue was addressed by singlecolor labeling and fluorescent double labeling using retrograde rAAVs injected into the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis(BST), anterior cortical amygdalar area(ACo), medial amygdaloid nucleus(MeA), and posteromedial cortical amygdaloid area(PMCo) in mice. We demonstrated the effectiveness of this AOB projection neuron labeling method and showed that the mitral cells of the AOB exhibited efferent projection dispersion characteristics similar to those of the MOB. Moreover, there were significant differences in the number of neurons projected to different brain regions, which indicated that each mitral cell in the AOB could project to a different number of neurons in different cortices. These results provide a circuitry basis to help understand the mechanism by which pheromone information is encoded and decoded in the AOS.

Background:The association of milk intake with cardiovascular disease(CVD)and cause-specific mortality remained controversial and evidence among the Chinese population was *** aimed to study the relationship between milk intake and CVDs among general Chinese ***::A total of 104,957 participants received questionnaire *** of physical examination such as anthropometric measurements and biochemical tests during 2007 to 2008,demographic data and their information on milk intake were collected through standardized *** proportional hazard regression models were used to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and their corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs)of CVD incidence,cause-specific mortality and all-cause mortality related to milk *** cubic splines(RCSs)were applied to examine dose-response ***::Among the 91,757 participants with a median follow-up period of 5.8 years,we documented 3877 CVD cases and 4091 all-cause *** with participants who never consumed milk,the multivariate-adjusted HRs(95%CIs)of CVD incidence for 1 to 150 g/day,151 to 299 g/day,and≥300 g/day were 0.94(0.86-1.03)(P>0.05),0.77(0.66-0.89)(P<0.05),and 0.59(0.40-0.89)(P<0.05),respectively;each 100 g increase of daily milk intake was associated with 11%lower risk of CVD incidence(HR,0.89;95%CI:0.85-0.94;P<0.001),and 11%lower risk of CVD mortality(HR,0.89;95%CI:0.82-0.97;P=0.008)after adjustment for age,sex,residential area,geographic region,education level,family history of CVD,smoking,alcohol drinking,physical activity level,body mass index,and healthy diet status(ideal or not).RCS analyses also showed a linear dose-response relationship with CVD(P for overall significance of the curve<0.001;P for non-linearity=0.979;P for linearity<0.001)and stroke(P for overall significance of the curve=0.010;P for non-linearity=0.998;P for linearity=0.002)incidence,and CVD mortality(P for overall significance of the curve=0.045;P for non

Asymmetrical traumatic bilateral hip dislocations with hemodynamic instability and an unstable pelvic ring: Case report and review of literature

Simultaneous anterior and posterior traumatic dislocations of both hips are very rare. Only 33 cases have been previously reported in the English language literature. Although they were all due to high-energy injuries, they were hemodynamically stable and had a stable pelvic ring. We report a unique case of asymmetrical hip dislocations with an unstable pelvic ring and hemodynamic instability. A 40-year-old man was injured in a high-energy motor vehicle accident. He was hemodynamically unstable when he presented in the emergency department. Radiolographs showed asymmetrical dislocations of both hips with an unstable pelvic ring. Under general anesthesia, he had closed reduction of the dislocations of both hips, followed by temporary stabilization with an external fixator. Transcatheter arterial embolization was performed to stop active pelvic bleeding. Delayed open reduction and internal fixation was performed 12 d later with anterior and posterior plates. The patient recovered well with an uneventful post-operative course. Asymmetrical bilateral hip dislocations with pelvic ring instability caused by trauma, as presented in this case, is very rare and potentially life threatening. Prompt treatment can give a good outcome.

Association between FOXO3A gene polymorphisms and human longevity： a meta-analysis

Numerous studies have shown associations between the FOXO3A gene, encoding the forkhead box 03 transcription factor, and human or specifically male longevity. However, the associations of specific FOXO3A polymorphisms with longevity remain inconclusive. We performed a meta-analysis of existing studies to clarify these potential associations. A comprehensive search was conducted to identify studies of FOXO3A gene polymorphisms and longevity. Pooled odds ratios （ORs） and 95% confidence intervals （Cls） were calculated by comparing the minor and major alleles. A total of seven articles reporting associations of FOXO3A polymorphisms with longevity were identified and included in this meta-analysis. These comprised 11 independent studies with 5241 cases and 5724 controls from different ethnic groups, rs2802292, rs2764264, rs13217795, rs1935949 and rs2802288 polymorphisms were associated with human longevity （OR = 1.36, 95% Cl = 1.10-1.69, P= 0.005; OR = 1.20, 95% CI = 1.04-1.37, P= 0.01; OR = 1.27, 95% CI = 1.10-1.46, P= 0.001; OR = 1.14, 95% CI = 1.01-1.27 and OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.07-1.43, P= 0.003, respectively）. Analysis stratified by gender indicated significant associations between rs2802292, rs2764264 and rs13217795 and male longevity （OR = 1.54, 95% Cl = 1.33-1.79, P〈 0.001; OR = 1.38, 95% Cl = 1,15-1.66, P= 0.001; and OR = 1.39, 95% Cl = 1.15-1.67, P= 0.001）, but rs2802292, rs2764264 and rs1935949 were not linked to female longevity. Moreover, our study showed no association between rs2153960, rs7762395 or rs13220810 polymorphisms and longevity. In conclusion, this meta-analysis indicates a significant association of five FOXO3A gene polymorphisms with longevity, with the effects of rs2802292 and rs2764264 being male-specific, Further investigations are required to confirm these findings.

旋转永磁体天线作为一种新型低频磁天线,克服了传统低频线圈体积大、功耗高、效率低的缺点,主要应用于近场低频磁通信中。该文利用FEKO分析了天线近区磁场随方向的变化规律,探究了近场范围内无限大地面对天线近区磁场分布的影响,结果表明:天线在其径向辐射强度最大,在其轴向辐射强度最小。并且在较近的通信距离范围内,地面对磁场信号的影响较小。分析了转动惯量和磁矩之间的关系,对永磁体结构参数进行了优化,研制了两款样机,并对优化前后的旋转永磁体天线功耗进行测试,实验结果表明:在质量大30 g的情况下,优化后的永磁体天线比优化前的天线平均功耗低5.5 W左右。利用直接天线调制方式磁场的2FSK调制,通过非相干解调恢复码元信息,测试结果表明:复杂电磁环境下,优化后的永磁体天线可以在20 m范围内实现码元速率为3.5 bps的超低频通信。

Development of a novel rat model of heterogeneous hepatic injury by injection with colchicine via the splenic vein

AIM To develop a novel rat model of heterogeneous hepatic *** Seventy male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a control group(n = 10) and a colchicine group(n =60). A 0.25% colchicine solution(0.4 mL/kg) was injected via the splenic vein in the colchicine group to develop a rat model of heterogeneous hepatic injury. An equal volume of normal saline was injected via the splenic vein in the control group. At days 3, 7, and 14 and weeks 4, 8, and 12 after the operation, at least seven rats of the colchicine group were selected randomly for magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) examinations, and then they were euthanized. Ten rats of the control group underwent MRI examinations at the same time points, and then were euthanized at week 12. T2-weighted images(T2 WI) and diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) were used to evaluate the heterogeneous hepatic injury. The heterogeneous injury between the left and right hepatic lobes was assessed on liver sections according to the histological scoring criteria, and correlated with the results of MRI study. RESULTS Obvious pathological changes occurred in the hepatic parenchyma in the colchicine group. Hepatic injury scores were significantly different between the left and right lobes at each time point(P lues or LMR(r =-0.682, P = 0.000; r =-0.245, P = 0.018).CONCluSION Injection with colchicine via the splenic vein can be used to successfully develop a rat model of heterogeneous hepatic injury. DWI and T2 WI may help evaluate the heterogeneous injury among liver lobes.

Achieving the directional and long-range droplet transport on solid surfaces is widely preferred for many practical applications but has proven to be ***,directionality and transport distance of droplets on hydrophobic surfaces are mutually ***,we report that drain fly,a ubiquitous insect maintaining nonwetting property even in very high humidity,develops a unique ballistic droplet transport mechanism to meet these demanding *** drain fly serves as a flexible rectifier to allow for a directional and long-range propagation as well as self-removal of a droplet,thus suppressing unwanted liquid *** investigation reveals that this phenomenon is owing to the synergistic conjunction of multiscale roughness,structural periodicity,and flexibility,which rectifies the random and localized droplet nucleation(nanoscale and microscale)into a directed and global migration(millimeter-scale).The mechanism we have identified opens up a new approach toward the design of artificial rectifiers for broad applications.
