Menstrual and Reproductive Characteristics of Patients with Primary Sjogren’s Syndrome:A 7-year Single-center Retrospective Study

Objective Primary Sjogren’s syndrome(pSS)is a systemic autoimmune disease that mainly affects the exocrine gland,especially in women.Currently,the results of studies on the menstruation or fertility of pSS patients remain controversial.This study aimed to examine the menstrual and reproductive characteristics of pSS patients.Methods Clinical data of 449 pSS patients who were admitted to Tongji Hospital in Hubei,China,from January 2015 to November 2021 were obtained and their menstrual and reproductive information analyzed.In addition,the clinical features of pSS patients with premenopausal or postmenopausal onset were compared.Results The spontaneous abortion rate of pSS patients was not higher than the reported rate of the general population and that the age of menarche,menstrual cycle,and menstrual period of pSS patients did not significantly differ from those reported in the general population;however,early menopause seemed to be more common in pSS patients.Skin involvement(27.96%vs.15.00%,P=0.005)and hyperglobulinemia(10.64%vs.4.16%,P=0.033)were more common in patients with premenopausal pSS onset,but patients with postmenopausal onset had a significantly greater incidence of interstitial lung disease(32.50%vs.17.02%,P=0.0004).Also,erythropenia(47.00%vs.31.25%,P=0.002),hypoalbuminemia(19.49%vs.8.22%,P=0.0009),and prevalence of high hypersensitive C-reactive protein levels(21.67%vs.10.94%,P=0.005)were more common in pSS patients with postmenopausal onset.Notably,the rate of abnormal pregnancy was significantly greater in patients with premenopausal onset(9.72%vs.2.50%,P=0.011).Conclusion Patients with pSS onset before or after menopause may have different risks in pulmonary involvement and laboratory manifestations.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists(GLP-1RAs)and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors are commonly used treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Both anti-diabetic treatments function by playing key modulatory roles in the incretin system.Though these drugs have been deemed effective in treating T2DM,the Food and Drug Administration(FDA)and some members of the scientific community have questioned the safety of these therapeutics relative to important cardiovascular endpoints.As a result,since 2008,the FDA has required all new drugs for glycemic control in T2DM patients to demonstrate cardiovascular safety.The present review article strives to assess the safety and benefits of incretin-based therapy,a new class of antidiabetic drug,on the health of patient cardiovascular systems.In the process,this review will also provide a physiological overview of the incretin system and how key components function in T2DM.

High-precision X-ray polarimeter based on channel-cut crystals

We report on using synthetic silicon for a high-precision X-ray polarimeter comprising a polarizer and an analyzer,each based on a monolithic channel-cut crystal used at multiple Brewster reflections with a Bragg angle very close to 45°.Experiments were performed at the BL09B bending magnet beamline of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility using a Si(800)crystal at an X-ray energy of 12.914 keV.A polarization purity of 8.4×10^(-9)was measured.This result is encouraging,as the measured polarization purity is the best-reported value for the bending magnet source.Notably,this is the firstly systematic study on the hard X-ray polarimeter in China,which is crucial for exploring new physics,such as verifying vacuum birefringence.

A novel profile modification HPF-Co gel satisfied with fractured low permeability reservoirs in high temperature and high salinity

Conformance control and water plugging are a widely used EOR method in mature oilfields.However,majority of conformance control and water plugging agents are unavoidable dehydrated situation in high-temperature and high-salinity low permeability reservoirs.Consequently,a novel conformance control system HPF-Co gel,based on high-temperature stabilizer(CoCl_(2)·H_(2)O,CCH)is developed.The HPF-Co bulk gel has better performances with high temperature(120℃)and high salinity(1×10^(5)mg/L).According to Sydansk coding system,the gel strength of HPF-Co with CCH is increased to code G.The dehydration rate of HPF-Co gel is 32.0%after aging for 150 d at 120℃,showing excellent thermal stability.The rheological properties of HPF gel and HPF-Co gel are also studied.The results show that the storage modulus(G′)of HPF-Co gel is always greater than that of HPF gel.The effect of CCH on the microstructure of the gel is studied.The results show that the HPF-Co gel with CCH has a denser gel network,and the diameter of the three-dimensional network skeleton is 1.5-3.5μm.After 90 d of aging,HPF-Co gel still has a good three-dimensional structure.Infrared spectroscopy results show that CCH forms coordination bonds with N and O atoms in the gel amide group,which can suppress the vibration of cross-linked sites and improve the stability at high temperature.Fractured core plugging test determines the optimized polymer gel injection strategy and injection velocity with HPF-Co bulk gel system,plugging rate exceeding 98%.Moreover,the results of subsequent waterflooding recovery can be improved by 17%.

Kilometer-resolution three-dimensional crustal deformation of Tibetan Plateau from InSAR and GNSS

Located at the forefront of the collision between the Indian and Eurasian Plates,the Tibetan Plateau experiences intense crustal movement.Traditional ground-based geodetic monitoring,such as GNSS and leveling,is challenging,due to factors such as high altitude and harsh climate,making it difficult to accurately determine a high-resolution crustal deformation field of the plateau.Unaffected by ground observation conditions,InSAR technique has key advantages for obtaining extensive and high-resolution crustal deformation fields.This makes it indispensable for crustal deformation monitoring on the Tibetan Plateau.This study used Sentinel-1 data from 2014 to 2020 to compute the ascending and descending InSAR deformation fields for the Tibetan Plateau.This was conducted with a measurement accuracy of approximately 3 mm/yr.Building upon this,we integrated InSAR and GNSS data to yield kilometer-resolution three-dimensional(3D)crustal deformation and strain rate fields for the Tibetan Plateau.A spherical wavelet analysis was used to decompose the 3D deformation field and separate the nontectonic crustal deformation to increase the strength of the tectonic deformation signal.Short-wavelength(110 km)deformation mainly results from subsidence in the central plateau and uplifts along the Himalayan Arc.This indicates that the Tibetan Plateau may have stopped the entire uplift and entered a local collapse stage.Furthermore,the deformation fields at different spatial scales reveal that the plateau exhibits discontinuous deformation in short wavelengths and continuous deformation in long wavelengths.The findings of this study contribute to resolving the controversy between the Block and Continuum Deformation models of the Tibetan Plateau.

Nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites as heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts with enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A

Potential health risks related to environmental endocrine disruptors(EEDs)have aroused research hotspots at the forefront of water treatment technologies.Herein,nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide/schwertmannite nanocomposites(N-TiO_(2)/SCH)have been successfully developed as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of typical EEDs via photo-Fenton processes.Due to the sustainable Fe(Ⅲ)/Fe(Ⅱ)conversion induced by photoelectrons,as-prepared N-TiO_(2)/SCH nanocomposites exhibit much enhanced efficiency for the degradation of bisphenol A(BPA;ca.100% within 60 min under visible irradiation)in a wide pH range of 3.0-7.8,which is significantly higher than that of the pristine schwertmannite(ca.74.5%)or N-TiO_(2)(ca.10.8%).In this photo-Fenton system,the efficient degradation of BPA is mainly attributed to the oxidation by hydroxyl radical(·OH)and singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2)).Moreover,the possible catalytic mechanisms and reaction pathway of BPA degradation are systematically investigated based on analytical and photoelectrochemical analyses.This work not only provides a feasible means for the development of novel heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalysts,but also lays a theoretical foundation for the potential application of mineral-based materials in wastewater treatment.

Perioperative complication incidence and risk factors for retroperitoneal neuroblastoma in children:analysis of 571 patients

Background Surgery plays an important role in the treatment of neuroblastoma.Perioperative complications may impact the course of neuroblastoma treatment.To date,comprehensive analyses of complications and risk factors have been lacking.Methods Patients with retroperitoneal neuroblastoma undergoing tumor resection were retrospectively analyzed between 2014 and 2021.The data collected included clinical characteristics,operative details,operative complications and postopera-tive outcomes.Risk factors for perioperative complications of retroperitoneal neuroblastoma were analyzed.Results A total of 571 patients were enrolled in this study.Perioperative complications were observed in 255(44.7%)patients.Lymphatic leakage(28.4%),diarrhea(13.5%),and injury(vascular,nerve and organ;7.5%)were the most frequent compli-cations.There were three operation-related deaths(0.53%):massive hemorrhage(n=1),biliary tract perforation(n=1)and intestinal necrosis(n=1).The presence of image-defined risk factors(IDRFs)[odds ratio(OR)=2.09,P<0.01],high stage of the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group staging system(INRGSS)(OR=0.454,P=0.04),retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis(OR=2.433,P=0.026),superior mesenteric artery encasement(OR=3.346,P=0.003),and inferior mesenteric artery encasement(OR=2.218,P=0.019)were identified as independent risk factors for perioperative complications.Conclusions Despite the high incidence of perioperative complications,the associated mortality rate was quite low.Perio-perative complications of retroperitoneal neuroblastoma were associated with IDRFs,INRGSS,retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis and vascular encasement.Patients with high-risk factors should receive more serious attention during surgery but should not discourage the determination to pursue total resection of neuroblastoma.

A novel algorithm for evaluating cement azimuthal density based on perturbation theory in horizontal well

Cement density monitoring plays a vital role in evaluating the quality of cementing projects,which is of great significance to the development of oil and gas.However,the presence of inhomogeneous cement distribution and casing eccentricity in horizontal wells often complicates the accurate evaluation of cement azimuthal density.In this regard,this paper proposes an algorithm to calculate the cement azimuthal density in horizontal wells using a multi-detector gamma-ray detection system.The spatial dynamic response functions are simulated to obtain the influence of cement density on gamma-ray counts by the perturbation theory,and the contribution of cement density in six sectors to the gamma-ray recorded by different detectors is obtained by integrating the spatial dynamic response functions.Combined with the relationship between gamma-ray counts and cement density,a multi-parameter calculation equation system is established,and the regularized Newton iteration method is employed to invert casing eccentricity and cement azimuthal density.This approach ensures the stability of the inversion process while simultaneously achieving an accuracy of 0.05 g/cm^(3) for the cement azimuthal density.This accuracy level is ten times higher compared to density accuracy calculated using calibration equations.Overall,this algorithm enhances the accuracy of cement azimuthal density evaluation,provides valuable technical support for the monitoring of cement azimuthal density in the oil and gas industry.

Thyroid-stimulating hormone-thyroid hormone signaling contributes to circadian regulation through repressing clock2/npas2 in zebrafish

Thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH)is important for the thyroid gland,development,growth,and metabolism.Defects in TSH production or the thyrotrope cells within the pituitary gland cause congenital hypothyroidism(CH),resulting in growth retardation and neurocognitive impairment.While human TSH is known to display rhythmicity,the molecular mechanisms underlying the circadian regulation of TSH and the effects of TSH-thyroid hormone(TH)signaling on the circadian clock remain elusive.Here we show that TSH,thyroxine(T4),triiodothyronine(T3),and tshba display rhythmicity in both larval and adult zebrafish and tshba is regulated directly by the circadian clock via both E′-box and D-box.Zebrafish tshba^(−/−)mutants manifest congenital hypothyroidism,with the characteristics of low levels of T_(4)and T_(3)and growth retardation.Loss or overexpression of tshba alters the rhythmicity of locomotor activities and expression of core circadian clock genes and hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid(HPT)axis-related genes.Furthermore,TSH-TH signaling regulates clock2/npas2 via the thyroid response element(TRE)in its promoter,and transcriptome analysis reveals extensive functions of Tshba in zebrafish.Together,our results demonstrate that zebrafish tshba is a direct target of the circadian clock and in turn plays critical roles in circadian regulation along with other functions.

A Dielectric Ink Combining Acrylate and Cyanate Moieties for Inkjet 3D Printing with Good Thermal Stability

Inkjet 3D printing has potential in the additive manufacturing of electronic circuits and devices.However,inks that can be used for printing layers with T5%>300℃ or hardness>200 MPa have been rarely reported.Cyanate ester(CE)polymers have excellent thermal stability,high strength,and low shrinkage compared to other common dielectric inks for inkjet 3D printing,but cannot be quickly shaped by ultraviolet(UV)irradiation or thermal treatment.Combining CEs with UV-curable monomers may be a possible way to accelerate crosslinking,but there are challenges from the adverse effects of the dilution of both monomers.In this study,dielectric inks with acrylate and cyanate moieties were developed.The low viscosity and surface tension of the CE precursor(Bisphenol E cyanate ester)were combined with photocurable acrylate diluent monomers and cross-linker to realize an ink suitable for inkjet 3D printing.An internal dual three-dimensional cross-linked network structure resin was prepared by a combination of photocuring and thermal curing with T5%up to 326.69℃,hardness up to 431.84 MPa,dielectric constant of 2.70 at 8 GHz,and shrinkage of 1.64%.The developed dielectric inks can be applied to the 3D printing of printed circuit boards and other electronic devices that require dielectric properties.
