The.neutron-induced total cross sections of natural lead have be.n measured in a wide energy range(0.3 eV-20 MeV)on the back-streaming white.neutron beamline(Back-n)at the China Spallation neutron *** energy was determined by the.neutron total cross-section spectrometer using the time-of-flight technique.A fast multi-cell fission chamber was used as the.neutron detector,and a 10-mm-thick high-purity natural lead sample was employed for the.neutron transmission *** on-beam background was determined using Co,In,Ag,and Cd *** excitation function of ^(nat)Pb(n,tot)reaction below 20 MeV was calculated using the TALYS-1.96 nuclear-reaction modeling *** present results were compared with previous results,the evaluated data available in the five major evaluated nuclear data libraries(i.e.,enDF/B-VIII.0,JeFF-3.3,JenDL-5,CenDL-3.2,and BROnD-3.1),and the theoretical calculation *** agreement was found betwe.n the.new results and those of previous experiments and with the theoretical curves in the corresponding *** measurement obtained the.neutron total cross section of natural lead with good accuracy over a wide energy range and added experimental data in the resonance energy *** provides more reliable experimental data for nuclear engineering design and nuclear data evaluation of lead.

Laparoscopic gastric bypass vs sleeve gastrectomy in obese Kore.n patients

AIM: To compare the mid-term outcomes of lapa-roscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG) and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(LRYGB) in obese Kore.n patients. MeTHODS: All consecutive patients who underwent either LSG or LRYGB with primary to treat morbid obesity betwe.n January 2011 and December 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with a body mass index(BMI) ≥ 30 kg/m2 with inadequately controlled obesity-related comorbidities(e.g., diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, hypertension, or obesityrelated arthropathy) or BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 were considered for bariatric surgery according to the Inte.national Federation for the Surgery of Obesity-Asia Pacific Chapter Consensus statements in 2011. The decision regarding the procedure type was made on an individual basis following extensive discussion with the patient about the specific risks associated with each procedure. All operative procedures were performed laparoscopically by a single surge.n experienced in upper gastrointestinal surgeries. Baseline demographics, perioperative surgical outcomes, and postoperative anthropometric data from a prospectively established database were thoroughly reviewed and compared betwe.n the two surgical ***: One hundred four patients underwent LSG, and 236 underwent LRYGB. Preoperative BMI in the LSG group was significantly higher than that of the LRYGB group(38.6 kg/m2 vs 37.2 kg/m2, P = 0.024). Patients with diabetes were more prevalent in the LRYGB group(18.3% vs 35.6%, P = 0.001). Operating time and hospital stay were significantly shorter in the LSG group compared with the LRYGB group(100 min vs 130 min, P e incidence of perioperative complications was similar betwe.n the groups(P = 0.351). The me.n percentage of excess weight loss(%eWL) was 71.2% for LRYGB, while it was 63.5% for LSG, at me.n follow-up periods of 18.0 and 21.0 mo, respectively(P = 0.073). Anti-obesity effects of Ginsenosides in High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats

Objective: To examine the anti-obesity effects of ginsenosides in Korea Red Ginseng(KRG, Panax ginseng) in rats fed with a high-fat diet(HFD). Methods: Twenty-five 4-week-old obesity rats after receiving an HFD for 5 weeks;subsequently, they were additionally treated with ginsenosides Rb1, Rd, Rg1, or Re(10 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) for a further 3 weeks(n=5 in each group). The control rats were fed a normal diet. The food consumption, body weight, locomotor activity, serum lipids, adipose tissues, nitric oxide.nO) expression, leptin, neuropeptide Y(nPY), cholecystokinin(CCK) in the brains were measured. Results: In the HFD-fed rats, body weight, body fat mass, serum levels of leptin and nO were significantly higher than in the control rats(Pever, the treatment of Rd, Re, and Rb1 markedly decreased body fat mass and body weight(Pe serum level of leptin and nO in ginsenoside-treated rats were markedly lower than the control group(Pe expression of nPY and CCK in the hypothalamic nuclei showed insignificant difference among groups. However, the expression of nPY immunoreactive.neurons in the hypothalamus was significantly reduced in the Rb1-treated group(Pnclusion: PD-type ginsenoside Rb1 from the crude saponins of KRG may be a useful compound for the treatment of obesity and related disorders through the modulation of peripheral and central appetite-regulating signals.

Advanced heterolytic H_(2) adsorption of K-added Ru/MgO catalysts for accelerating hydrogen storage into aromatic benzyltoluenes

Here.n,we report a highly active K-added Ru/MgO catalyst for hydrogen storage into aromatic benzyltoluenes at low temperatures to advance liquid organic hydrogen carrier *** hydrogenation activity of Ru/K/MgO catalysts exhibits a volcano-shaped dependence on the K content at the maximum with 0.02 wt%.This is in good agreement with the strength and capacity of H_(2) adsorption derived from basicity,despite a gradual decrease in the textural property and the corresponding increase in the Ru particle size with increasing the K *** functional theory calculations show that heterolytic hydrogen adsorption properties(strength and polarization)are facilitated up to a specific density of K on the Ru–MgO interface and excessive K suppresses heterolytic H_(2) adsorption by direct interaction betwe.n K and hydrogen,assuring the hydrogenation activity and H_(2) adsorption capability of Ru/K/MgO ***,the Ru/K/MgO catalyst,when K is added in an optimal amount,is highly effective to accelerate hydrogen storage kinetics at low temperatures owing to the enhanced heterolytic H_(2) adsorption.

生物膜微生物在河流生物地球化学循环中扮演着重要角色,其群落结构和多样性对河流水环境变化敏感.然而,针对河流生物膜微生物群落结构及生态共现网络(ecological co-occurrence.networks)的季节变化模式的研究较少.因此,本研究以地处亚热带区域的三峡水库腹地的香溪河为研究对象,分别对比了生物膜中原核和真核微生物多样性及其生态共现网络的季节差异.结果显示,原核和真核微生物群落组成和物种多样性在夏季和冬季之间均差异显著(pnterdomain biostripe.networks)在夏季更复杂,而真核微生物网络复杂程度则在冬季较高.原核和真核微生物群落的负内聚力均是冬季较高,尤其在真核微生物群落中表现得更为明显.并且,真核微生物群落的负内聚力主要与CODMn和nH4+-n呈负相关.进一步分析群落变化的驱动因素发现,原核微生物群落受SiO32--Si、DO、WT和nH4+-n等环境因子的显著影响,真核微生物群落则主要由SiO32--Si、DO、WT、P_Chla和nH4+-n等环境因子驱动.综上所述,香溪河生物膜的微生物多样性和群落组成存在显著的季节变化,且原核和真核微生物的生态共现网络呈现出不同的互作模式.

In this work,a simple synthesis of sulfur doped graphitic carbon nitride(S-g-C3n4)act as a support cum stabilizers for gold nanoparticles(Au)and its was characterized by UV–vis and XRD to measure the absorbance and crystallinity,*** functional group and morphology of the samples were identified using FT-IR and ***,the Au@S-g-C3n4 nanocatalyst exhibits good catalytic performance and stability in the reduction of hazardous 4-nitrophenol(nP)compared to S-g-C3n4 using na ***,the Au@S-g-C3n4 nanocomposite holds a good catalytic efficiency(near 100%)achieved by within 5 *** highest catalytic reduction of nP is due to the synergistic effect of Au nanoparticles decorated on *** fast electron transfer reduction mechanism was elucidated and *** reusability and stability of the developed nanocomposites were also observed in consecutive reduction *** filtering and catalyzing device was used for the direct conversion of nP polluted *** method can open a new avenue for the metal nanoparticles based carbon materials heterogeneous catalyst and its reduction of toxic contaminants.

Variations in microstructure and bending formability of extruded Mg–Al–Zn–Ca–Y–MM alloy with precompression and subsequent annealing treatment conditions

In this study, the bending formability of an extruded Mg–9Al–1Zn–0.3Mn–0.9Ca–0.6Y–0.5 MM(AZXWMM91100, wt%) alloy at room temperature is significantly improved through application of a combined precompression and subsequent annealing(PCA) treatment. As the amount of precompression applied along the extrusion direction(eD)(i.e., the total strain) increases from 4% to 6%, the area fraction of eD-oriented grains of the PCA-treated alloy increases, which consequently causes an improvement in its bending formability because these grains accommodate larger tensile strain along the eD during bending. As the temperature of the subsequent annealing treatment increases from 350 ℃ to 450 ℃, both the area fraction of the eD-oriented grains and the average grain size increase, and the residual dislocation density decreases owing to the promotion of boundary migration and occurrence of the recovery process at higher ***, the bending formability of both the 4%-precompressed and the 6%-precompressed samples increases with an increase in the annealing temperature. However, when the precompressed samples are annealed at 300 ℃, their bending formability is lower than that of the extruded alloy because the dislocations formed by precompression remain even after the subsequent annealing at this temperature.

Dietary plant extracts modulate gene expression profiles in alveolar macrophages of pigs experimentally infected with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus

Background: Our previous study showed that 3 plant extracts enhanced the immune responses and growth efficiency of we.ned pigs infected with porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus(PRRSV), which is one of the most economically important disease in swine industry. However, each plant extract differently effected on growth efficiency and immune responses. Therefore, the objective of this study was conducted to characterize the effects and investigate the potential underlying mechanisms of 3 plant extracts on gene expression of alveolar macrophages in we.ned pigs experimentally infected with ***: PRRSV infection altered(P e expression of 1,352 genes in pigs fed the control(COn;755 up, 597 down). Compared with the infected COn, feeding capsicum(CAP), garlic botanical(GAR), or turmeric oleoresin(TUR) altered the expression of 46 genes(24 up, 22 down), 134 genes(59 up, 75 down), or 98 genes(55 up, 43 down) in alveolar macrophages of PRRSV-infected pigs, respectively. PRRSV infection up-regulated(P e expression of genes related to cell apoptosis, immune system process, and response to stimulus, but downregulated(P e expression of genes involved in signaling transduction and innate immune *** with the infected COn, feeding TUR or GAR reduced(P e expression of genes associated with antigen processing and presentation, feeding CAP up-regulated(P e expression of genes involved in antigen processing and presentation. Supplementation of CAP, GAR, or TUR also enhanced(P e expression of several genes related to amino acid metabolism, steroid hormone synthesis, or RnA degradation, ***: The results suggest that 3 plant extracts differently regulated the expression of genes in alveolar macrophages of PRRSV-infected pigs, especially altering genes involved in immunity.

Preparation of Highly Crystalline Graphitic nanocarbon for the electro-Oxidation of Methanol

Highly crystalline graphitic nanocarbons （GnC） have be.n prepared by the wet-air treatment of hydrothermally- derived graphitic porous carbon. The materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical methods. The experimental results revealed that the treatment temperature has a significant effect on the morphology and degree of graphitic crystallinity. When GnC was treated at 450 ~C under a wet-air atmosphere, the product （GnC-450） consisted of aggregates of silkworm-shaped carbon nanoparticles with enhanced graphitic characteristics. GnC-450 was evaluated as a catalyst support in the electro-oxidation of methanol. The Pt/GnC-450 catalyst contained smaller Pt particles and had a higher electrochemically active surface area than a commercial carbon black-supported Pt catalyst. In the electro-oxidation of methanol, the Pt/GnC-450 catalyst showed the highest performance among the Pt catalysts examined in this study. The superior catalytic performance appears to be closely related to the enhanced graphitic characteristics with highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on the graphitic layers, which have a positive effect on the electrochemical performance.
