Objective The placebo response in depression studies is the change in symptoms amongst those who receive an inactive *** well-designed randomized controlled trials(RcTs)of depression have a high proportion of placebo responders,with little understanding as to *** present study assesses characteristics associated with the placebo response in a nutraceutical trial with a large proportion of placebo *** This is a secondary analysis of a nutraceutical depression RcT which identified no overall treatment benefit relative to placebo(n=69 in placebo group).We investigated participant characteristics such as socio-demographics,clinical features,and recruitment methods,and their association with the placebo *** genetic polymorphisms were also *** response was measured based on change in Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale *** association of these hypothesis-driven variables of interest and the placebo response was examined using linear mixed effects *** Greater levels of education,particularly pursuing post-high school education,better self-reported general health,marriage/de facto,greater improvement in the first trial week,and more failed antidepressant therapies in the current depressive episode were associated with greater placebo *** increased placebo response was not found in those recruited via social media nor in those with concomitant antidepressant *** nucleotide polymorphisms from the tryptophan hydroxylase 1(TPH1)gene(A779c and A218c)were weakly associated with greater placebo response,although the evidence was attenuated after accounting for multiple *** This is,to our knowledge,the first study within nutraceutical research for depression to assess the association between participant characteristics and variation in the placebo *** variables appeared to predict the placebo *** findings may encourage future trial design

Implementation of the Acclimatization Process for Ginger Plantlets (Zingiber officinale Roscoe)

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is an important culinary and medicinal spice but is rarely cultivated due to the unavailability of seeds. Given the difficulties in adapting to plantlets produced in natural environments, it is important to analyze the survival conditions of ginger plantlets. For this reason, we varied the incubation temperature and humidity as well as the substrate during the weaning phase. Then, we varied the nutrients contained in the watering solution during the hardening phase. The statistical analysis showed that physical factors and substrates significantly influenced (p cantly influenced the phylogenesis, rhizogenesis, and height growth of the plantlets. The suitable physical factors for good development of plantlets are a temperature of 26.54˚c and a humidity of 96.16%. The 1c2T2Tc substrate (1 compost + 2 Soil + 2 coconut Peat) had a significant survival rate of approximately 92.5%. During hardening, the Plantzym solution promoted good growth in terms of plantlet height (0.6 cm) and good development of roots (30 roots) and leaves (03 leaves). This work will make it possible to develop a technical seed production sheet for better development of ginger cultivation in Benin.

Immunogenetic phenotypes in inflammatory bowel disease

The currently accepted etiopathogenic hypothesis suggests that the chronic intestinal inflammation and related systemic manifestations characteristic of inflammatory bowel disease （IBD） are due to an overly aggressive or pathologic immune response to resident luminal bacterial constituents. Predisposing factors are genetic dysregulation of mucosal immune responses and/ or barrier function, with onset triggered by environmental stimuli. These factors and their interactions may also be important determinants of disease phenotype and disease progression. The emergence of immunogenetic phenotypes lends support to the proposed hypothesis that susceptibility genes regulate distinct immune processes, driven by luminal antigens, expressed as specific immune phenotypes which in turn influence clinical phenotypes in IBD patient.

Mechanical and low-cycle fatigue behavior of stainless reinforcing steel for earthquake engineering applications

Use of stainless reinforcing steel （SRS） in reinforced concrete （Rc） structures is a promising solution to corrosion issues. However, for SRS to be used in seismic applications, several mechanical properties need to be investigated. These include specified and actual yield strengths, tensile strengths, uniform elongations and low-cycle fatigue behavior. Three types of SRSs （Talley S24100, Talley 316LN and Talley 2205） were tested and the results are reported in this paper. They were compared with the properties of A706 carbon reinforcing steel （RS）, which is typical for seismic applications, and MMFX II, which is a high strength, corrosion resistant RS. Low-cycle fatigue tests of the RS coupons were conducted under strain control with constant amplitude to obtain strain life models of the steels. Test results show that the SRSs have slightly lower moduli of elasticity, higher uniform elongations before necking, and better low-cycle fatigue performance than A706 and MMFX II. All five types of RSs tested satisfy the requirements of the AcI 318 code on the lower limit of the tensile to yield strength ratio. Except Talley 2205, the other four types of RSs investigated meet the AcI 318 requirement that the actual yield strength does not exceed the specified yield strength by more than 18 ksi （124 MPa）. Among the three types of SRSs tested, Talley S24100 possesses the highest uniform elongation before necking, and the best low-cycle fatigue performance.

Growth,Structural and Microhardness Studies on New Semiorganic Single crystals of calcium Para Nitrophenolate Dihydrate

Good quality crystals of calcium p-nitrophenolate （NPca） were grown from saturated solution by slow evaporation method. The crystal structure analysis and the molecular arrangement of these crystals were determined using X-ray diffraction （XRD）. From Single crystal XRD studies, NPca is found to be crystallized in the mon- oclinic system with a space group P21/n. The functional groups of the material were confirmed qualitatively by F-FIR （Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy） spectral analysis. Optical absorption studies reveal the absorption region and microhardness studies were carried out to confirm the mechanical behaviour of the crystals.

Assays for RNA synthesis and replication by the hepatitis c virus

At least six major genotypes of Hepatitis c virus （HcV） cause liver diseases worldwide. The efficacy rates with current standard of care are about 50% against genotype 1, the most prevalent strain in the United States, Europe and Japan. Therefore more effective pan-genotypic therapies are needed. HcV RNA replication provides a number of validated targets for virus-specific and potentially pan-genotypic inhibitors. In vitro assays capturing the different steps of RNA synthesis are needed not only to identify new inhibitors, but also to examine their mechanisms of action. This review attempts to provide a comprehensive summary of the biochemical, cell-based and animal model systems to assess HcV polymerase activity and HcV RNA replication that should be useful for both basic research and applied studies.

Functional attributes： compacting vs decompacting earth- worms and influence on soil structure

A short term field mesocosm experiment was performed in semi-deciduous forest areas of Ivory coast to assess the impact of a decompacting （Hyperiodrilus africanus, Eudrilidae） and two compacting （Millsonia omodeoi and Dichogaster terrae nigrae, Acanthodrilidae） earthworm species on soil properties. These species have been selected for their predominance in the re- gion and their contrasting impact on soil structure. The experimental design consisted of a treatment without worms （control）, and treatments with one, two or three species of earthworms. Both compacting and decompacting earthworms increased water infil- tration rate in all treatments, with marked impact in H. africanus and M. omodeoi＋D, terraenigrae treatments. Interactions be- tween compacting and decompacting species resulted in more large aggregates in comparison to when the compacting species D. terraenigrae was alone. This may be accounted for by their compacting attribute as compacting earthworms are responsible for producing the highest number of large aggregates. The low values of mean weight diameter in treatments combining decompact-ing and compacting earthworms compared with compacting ＂M. omodeoi＂ one also confirmed the trend of decline in soil com-paction in the presence of the decompacting species. These results showed positive impact of species richness on soil structure regulation, which is crucial in ecosystem productivity and support consequently the insurance hypothesis. In fact, this study showed that the preservation of earthworm species belonging to these two contrasting functional groups is essential for the main-tenance of stable soil structure regulation in agro-tropical ecosystems.

2D-titanium carbide(MXene)based selective electrochemical sensor for simultaneous detection of ascorbic acid,dopamine and uric acid

Two-dimensional(2 D)titanium carbide(MXene)nanosheets exhibited excellent conductivity,flexibility,high volumetric capacity,hydrophilic surface,thermal stability,***,it has been exploited in various ***,we report synthesis of mixed phase 2 D MXene as a catalytic material for simultaneous detection of important biomolecules such as ascorbic acid(AA),dopamine(DA)and uric acid(UA).crystalline structure,surface morphology and elemental composition of mixed phase titanium carbide(Ti-c-T_(x))MXene(T_(x)=-F,-OH,or-O)nanosheets were confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM),high-re solution scanning electron microscopy(HR-SEM)and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS)mapping ***,Ti-c-T_(x) modified glassy carbon electrode(GcE)was prepared and its electrochemical properties are studied by cyclic voltammetry(cV)and diffe rential pulse voltammetry(DPV).It was found that Ti-c-T_(x) modified GcE(Ti-c-T_(x)/GcE)showed excellent electrocatalytic activity and separated oxidation peaks of important biomolecules such as AA(at 0.01 V),DA(at 0.21 V)and UA(at 0.33 V).Also,Ti-c-T_(x)/GcE sensor is enabled their simultaneous detection in physiological pH from 100 to 1000μM for AA,0.5-50μM for DA and 0.5-4μM&100-1500μM for *** limit of detection’s(LOD)was estimated as 4.6μM,0.06μM and 0.075μM for AA,DA and UA,***,real sample analysis indicated that spiked AA,DA and UA can be determined accurately by Ti-c-T_(x)/GcE with the recovery ratio in the range between 100.5%-103%in human urine *** proposed Ti-c-T_(x) modified electrode exhibited good stability,selectivity and reproducibility as an electrochemical sensor for the detection of AA,DA and UA molecules.
