Evidence supports the involvement of oxytocin in social behavior. The oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR) has been associated with differences in social brain function and risk for autism. Motivated by recent work, we investigated the effect of variation in the common functional rs2268498 T/c polymorphism in the promoter region of OXTR on neural responses to fear expressions. 46 healthy subjects were divided into genotype groups of c carriers (n = 32) and TT ho-mozygous (n = 14) and neural activity was measured during the recognition of fear and neutral expressions. Results showed that during the recognition of fear expressions, the TT genotype group exhibited increased responding in the inferior occipital gyrus, considered important for face processing, compared to carriers of the c allele (P cluster corrected for whole brain), an effect not found for neutral faces. These results indicate the impact of this OXTR genetic variant on individual differences in social affective neural processing.

AIM:To compare the clinical outcome and pathologic features of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc) and hepatitic c virus(HcV) patients with Hcc(another group in which Hcc is commonly seen) undergoing liver ***:Patients transplanted for HcV and NASH at our institution from January 2000 to April 2011 were *** explanted liver histology and pre-transplant liver biopsies were examined by two specialist liver *** demographics,disease free survival,explant liver characteristics and Hcc features(tumour number,cumulative tumour size,vascular invasion and differentiation) were compared between HcV and NASH liver transplant ***:A total of 102 patients with NASH and 283 patients with HcV were *** incidence of Hcc in NASH transplant recipients was 16.7%(17/102).The incidence of Hcc in HcV transplant recipients was 22.6%(64/283).Patients with NASH-Hcc were statistically older than HcV-Hcc patients(P cantly higher proportion of HcV-Hcc patients had vascular invasion(23.4% vs 6.4%,P = 0.002) and poorly differentiated Hcc(4.7% vs 0%,P compared to the NASH-Hcc group.A trend of poorer recurrence free survival at 5 years was seen in HcV-Hcc patients compared to NASH-Hcc who underwent a Liver transplantation(P = 0.11).cONcLUSION:Patients transplanted for NASH-Hcc appear to have less aggressive tumour features compared to those with HcV-Hcc,which likely in part accounts for their improved recurrence free survival.

目的探讨膝关节镜下采用自体半腱肌/股薄肌腱移植重建前交叉韧带的方法和效果。方法回顾分析54例膝关节镜下应用自体双股半腱肌/股薄肌腱移植重建前交叉韧带的情况,随访2年以上纳入分析。采用Lysholm关节评分、国际膝关节文献编制委员会(IKDc)分级评估标准和KT-1000关节测量仪测定稳定性评价疗效。结果平均随访30.8个月,Lysholm关节评分由术前58分提高到术后95分,优良率96.3%。IKDc功能评价29例(53.7%)正常、24例(44.5%)基本正常、1例(1.8%)异常。KT-1000测定优38例(70.4%),良15例(27.8%),差1例(1.8%),平均移动度2.1mm。结论关节镜下自体双股半腱肌/股薄肌腱移植重建前交叉韧带方法可行,疗效确切。术后能早期康复锻炼,稳定性好,并发症少。

A functional relationship between monothiol glutaredoxins and BolAs has been unraveled by genomic analyses and in several high-throughput studies. Phylogenetic analyses coupled to transient expression of green fluo- rescent protein （GFP） fusions indicated that, in addition to the sulfurtransferase SufE1, which contains a c-terminal BolA domain, three BolA isoforms exist in Arabidopsis thaliana, BolA1 being plastidial, BolA2 nucleo-cytoplasmic, and BolA4 dual-targeted to mitochondria and plastids. Binary yeast two-hybrid experiments demonstrated that all BolAs and SufE 1, via its BolA domain, can interact with all monothiol glutaredoxins. Most interactions between protein couples of the same subcellular compartment have been confirmed by bimolecular fluorescence complementation. In vitro experiments indicated that monothiol glutaredoxins could regulate the redox state of BolA2 and SufE1, both proteins possessing a single conserved reactive cysteine. Indeed, a glutathionylated form of SufE1 lost its capacity to activate the cysteine desuifurase, Nfs2, but it is reactivated by plastidial glutaredoxins. Besides, a monomeric glutathionyiated form and a dimeric disulfide-bridged form of BolA2 can be preferentially reduced by the nucleo-cytoplasmic GrxS17. These results indicate that the glutaredoxin-BolA interaction occurs in several subcellular compartments and suggest that a redox regulation mechanism, disconnected from their capacity to form iron-sulfur cluster-bridged heterodimers, may be physiologically relevant for BolA2 and SufE1.

Anthropogenic activities induced seismicity have been widely reported and investigated in a variety of regions, including shale gas field in the Sichuan basin where the number of earthquakes increased drastically since 2014. However, how the earthquakes were induced remains poorly understood, partly due to the lack of high-resolution spatial-temporal evolution of seismicity.

The kudzu bug, Megacopta cribraria (Fabricius), recently became an invasive insect pest of soybean, Glycine max (L.) Merr. in the southeastern USA capable of reducing crop yield by as much as 60% if left untreated. To reduce these losses and minimize control costs, new methods for detecting kudzu bugs must be investigated in order to optimize control measures. One such method would be to detect volatiles released by kudzu bugs. An electronic portable device was developed to draw volatile organic compounds (VOcs) produced by kudzu bugs over carbon black-polymer composite sensors and measure the change in resistance for each sensor. Sensors made using polymers poly (bisphenol A carbonate) (p = 0.041), poly (styrene-co-allyl alcohol) (p = 0.017) and poly (vinylpyrrolidone) (p = 0.040) showed significant differences in resistance change for M. cribraria VOcs over the control. A logistic regression was 94.4% accurate based on the resistance changes from sensors made from polymers poly (4-vinylphenol), poly (styrene-co-allyl alcohol), and poly (vinylpyrrolidone) as features. These results indicate the capability of the device to detect kudzu bugs by detecting volatiles released by the insects.

Hippocampal neurogenesis continues throughout the lifespan of adult mammals, but the rates decline dramatically with increasing age. Among the factors that have been shown to affect neurogenesis, aging has been shown to be one of its most potent regulators in mice. The mechanism for the decline in neurogenesis with age is thought to be related to age-dependent changes in local and systemic neuroendocrinology and neurochemistry, as well as internal changes to precursor cells that result in decreased reactivity to normal stimuli. Since most of the data about neurogenesis and age were established from rodent studies, we sought to study this relationship in nonhuman primates in five previously studied cohorts of bonnet monkeys (Macaca radiata). In the present study, we statistically analyze the relationship of age and hippocampal neurogenesis rates, as measured by the number of DcX expressing cells in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus in 71 subjects with ages ranging from 3.5 to 17 years. We observed a non-significant relationship between age and doublecortin for subjects less than nine years old (corresponding to young and full adulthood) but a linear significant decline for subjects 9 years or greater (middle age and senescence). In contrast to previous studies that show neurogenesis to decline linearly throughout the lifespan, this study shows that neurogenesis occurs steadily throughout adulthood and begins to decline in middle age in bonnet macaques.
