In this study,we reported a case with collapse and subluxation of metatarsal-cuneiform joint,navicular-cuneiform joint with subluxed the right first metatarsophalangeal *** injured medial column was internally fixed with compression *** fusion site was firmed up with BonGoldVR Bone sponge and Bone *** prognosis of fused navicular-cuneiform joint and metatarsal-cuneiform joint were examined by X-ray shortly after surgical operation and followed up 2,4,6,9 and 13 weeks after the surgical *** column was perfectly fused by compression *** results justified and favored the application of mineralized collagen as an excellent alternative to autograft in fusing the podarthral joints with internal fixation.

The work uses the data in the TTs mode of BATsE to analyze the time lags and pulse widths of GRB960113 and GRB960722 in high as well as low energy bands. The results show that their time lags increase monotonously. This phenomenon can reasonably be interpreted with the model of internal shock waves of γ-ray bursts (GRB). Perhaps we obtain the direct observational evidence for the fireball model of GRBs for the first time.

Governments are increasingly trying to ensure that communities are resilient to the effects of climate change and encourage community empowerment and autonomy. Local resilience planning groups(LRPGs),which include stakeholders with an interest in a local area,are emerging as one potential approach to building community resilience. A conceptual framework has been developed to identify the common requirements for community resilience, building upon existing work in the wider community resilience literature. Aberdeen Resilient,Included and supported Group, scotland, UK is an example of a LRPG. In this study the data collected during a workshop with the Aberdeen LRPG were used with the conceptual framework to identify some of the challenges faced when building community resilience. The study examined whether the Aberdeen LRPG illustrates the challenges and constraints faced by LRPGs more widely,and how the membership influences the potential to develop the attributes of community resilience outlined in the conceptual framework. The thematic analysis of the workshop revealed Aberdeen LRPG’s six dominant challenges: engaging with individuals, culture, attitudes,assumptions, terminology, and timescale. These challenges impede the group in utilizing the skills, knowledge, and resources that its members possess to build community resilience. While the Aberdeen LRPG cannot change all factors that affect community resilience, framing specific problems experienced by the group within a conceptual framework applicable to any community contributes to understanding the practical challenges to developing community resilience.

We explored the influence of the artificial diets with different protein and glucose contents on larval development,fecundity and enzyme activities of the beet armyworm spodoptera exigua （Hübner）.Our results suggested that development,fecundity and population growth index of beet armyworm increased with increased nutritional content in the artificial diets;however,when the yeast to cellulose content ratio reached 46.8：53.2,the fecundity and population growth had reached a maximum and additional protein did not yield additional ***,3rd instar beet armyworm larvae fed on different artificial diets had increased enzymatic activities of acetylcholinesterase （AChE） with the increased nutritional content,but carboxylesterase （CarE） activities did not significantly change under variation in the nutritional content.

Defining language impairments in a subgroup of children with autism spectrum disorder

Autism spectrum disorder(AsD) is diagnosed on the basis of core impairments in pragmatic language skills, which are found across all ages and subtypes. In contrast, there is significant heterogeneity in language phenotypes, ranging from nonverbal to superior linguistic abilities, as defined on standardized tests of vocabulary and grammatical knowledge. The majority of children are verbal but impaired in language, relative to age-matched peers. One hypothesis is that this subgroup has AsD and co-morbid specific language impairment(sLI). An experiment was conducted comparing children with AsD to children with sLI and typically developing controls on aspects of language processing that have been shown to be impaired in children with sLI: repetition of nonsense words. Patterns of performance among the children with AsD and language impairment were similar to those with sLI, and contrasted with the children with AsD and no language impairment and typical controls, providing further evidence for the hypothesis that a subgroup of children with AsD has co-morbid sLI. The findings are discussed in the context of brain imaging studies that have explored the neural bases of language impairment in AsD and sLI, and overlap in the genes associated with elevated risk for these disorders.

Designers and manufacturers often see con- sumption as the primary objective of a product - with implications such as discarded products, obsolete wastes, and ecological degradation. The paper aims to find the answer to the question, how emotional design can adapt the discarded and undesirable products into something valu- able in a long term？ This paper presents a framework combining Chapman＇s theory and Norman＇s theory on three levels of emotional design to highlight what long lasting connection with products entails. A design approach is presented combing the Wabi sabi philosophy that pro- motes the celebration of decay and damage. This is used as one of the design principles for the experiments conducted on discarded products. Through constant user interaction before, during and after the experiments the evaluation of design as an agent of transformation is done. The user conducted the evaluation based on the Kansei elements of looks, sound, smell, and feel of the product. The experi- ments confirmed that a long-term value is only achieved through redesigning and reconstructing the perception of people towards products on a reflective level, rather than the visceral and behavioural elements of the product. The research found attachment to the visceral and behavioural elements of a product instead of an emotional one was causing users to discard products faster than required. The research indicated that many people, including designers and manufacturers, are unconsciously focusing on usability （behavioural level） and physical look （visceral level） of a product that are easily replaced, than on a meaningful way （reflective level） to create and maintain long-lasting emo- tions. The research concluded with a proposition towards digitization of products which could perhaps be an all round solution to make products more appropriate to human emotions. AIM: To report maternal and fetal adverse outcomes, in spite of appropriate treatment and regular follow up, in diabetic pregnant women with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. METHODs: Case series of four young pregnant diabetics aged between 20 and 25 years with type 1 diabetes mellitus and proliferative diabetic retrinopathy. REsULTs: The maternal adverse outcomes were abortion in one patient, pre-eclampsia and preterm delivery in one patient, and renal failure requiring dialysis in one patient. The fetal adverse outcomes were neonatal death in one case and premature baby in another case. CONCLUsION: These cases highlight the fact that diabetic pregnant women should be closely followed up by the obstetricians and physicians when they have proliferative retinopathy. The proliferative diabetic retinopathy should be considered as a part of the assessment when counseling a diabetic woman in antenatal check up and also in the follow up visits during pregnancy.

salt Accumulation and Physiology of Naturally Occurring Grasses in saline soils in Australia

salinity is a major soil contamination problem in Australia. To explore salinity remediation, we evaluated the concentrations of sodium （Na）, potassium （K）, magnesium （Mg）, and calcium （Ca） in roots and shoots and in the supporting soil of the naturally occurring grasses, Cynodon dactylon and Thinopyrurn ponticum, at two salt-affected sites, Gumble and Cundumbul in central-western New south Wales, Australia. The physiological parameters of the two grass species, including net photosynthetic rate （Pn）, stomatal conductance （gs）, and intercellular CO2 concentration （Ci）, were investigated using one mature leaf from C. dactylon and T. ponticum populations. Increasing salinity levels in the topsoil had a significant influence on Ci and gs, whereas no significant effect occurred on Pn in C. dactylon and T. ponticum. The Pn values in C. dactylon and T. ponticum were greater at Cundumbul than at Gumble. The greater Mg concentration facilitated greater Pn in C. dactylon and T. ponticum populations at Cundumbul than Gumble. With increasing salinity levels in the soil, Na accumulation increased in C. dactylon and T. ponticum. The ratio between K and Na was ~ 1 in roots and shoots of both populations irrespective of the sites. Bioaccumulation factor （BF） and translocation factor （TF） results revealed that K and Na translocations were significantly higher in T. ponticum than in C. dactylon, whereas Ca and Mg translocations were significantly higher in C. dactylon than in T. ponticum. Accumulation of Na, K, Mg, and Ca ions was higher in T. ponticum than in C. dactylon; therefore, we suggest that T. ponticum as a greater salt accumulator than C. dactylon could be used for revegetation and phytoremediation of the salt-affected soils.

The development of photocatalytic technology has grown significantly since its initial report and as such,a number of screening methods have been developed to assess activity. In the field of environmental remediation, a crucial factor is the formation of highly oxidising species such as OH radicals. These radicals are often the primary driving force for the removal and breakdown of organic and inorganic contaminants. The quantification of such compounds is challenging due to the nature of the radical,however indirect methods which deploy a chemical probe to essentially capture the radical have been shown to be effective. As discussed in the work presented here, optimisation of such a method is fundamental to the efficiency of the method. A starting concentration range of coumarin from 50 mmol/L to 1000 mmol/L was used along with a catalyst loading of 0.01 g/L to 1 g/L Ti TiO2 to identify that 250 mmol/L and 0.5 g/L Ti TiO2 were the optimum conditions for production. Under these parameters a maximum production rate of 35.91 mmol/L（Rmax= 0.4 mmol/L OH＊ min-1） was achieved which yielded at photonic efficiency of 4.88 OH＊moles photon-1 under UV irradiation. The data set presented also highlighted the limitations which are associated with the method which included; rapid exhaustion of the probe molecule and process inhibition through UV light saturation. Identifying both the optimum conditions and the potential limitations of the process were concluded to be key for the efficient deployment of the photocatalytic screening method.
