A model which incorporates some of the basic epidemiological features of the co- dynamics of malaria and tuberculosis （TB） is formulated and the effectiveness of current intervention strategies of these two diseases is analyzed. The malaria-only and TB-only models are considered first. Global stability disease-free steady states of the two sub- models does not hold due to the co-existence of stable disease-free with stable endemic equilibria, a phenomenon known as backward bifurcation. The dynamics of the dual malari^TB model with intervention strategies are also analyzed. Numerical simulations of the malaria-TB model are carried out to determine whether the two diseases can co- exist. Lastly, sensitivity analysis on key parameters that drive the disease dynamics is performed in order to identify their relative importance to disease transmission.

High-quality data remains scarce in terms of optimal management strategies in the elderly inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)***,available trials have been mostly retrospective,of small sample size,likely owing to underrepresentation of such a population in the major randomized controlled ***,in the last five years,there has been a steady increase in the number of published trials,helping clarify the estimated benefits and toxicity of the existing IBD *** the Everhov trial,prescription strategies were recorded over an average follow-up of 4.2 years.A minority of elderly IBD patients(1%-3%)were treated with biologics within the five years following diagnosis,whilst almost a quarter of these patients were receiving corticosteroid therapy at year five of follow-up,despite its multiple *** low use of biologic agents in real-life settings likely stems from limited data suggesting lower efficacy and higher *** minireview will aim to highlight current outcome measurements as it portends the elderly IBD patient,as well as summarize the available therapeutic strategies in view of a growing body of evidence.

Wetlands play an important role in the provision of ecosystem services,ranging from the regulation of hydrological systems to carbon sequestration and biodiversity *** paper reports the mapping of Indonesia’s wetland cover as a single thematic class,including peatlands,freshwater wetlands,and ***-interpreted training data were used to identify wetland formations including areas of likely past wetland extent that have been converted to other land *** indices(Shuttle Radar Topography Mission-derived)and optical(Landsat)and radar(PALSAR)image inputs were used to build a bagged classification tree model based on training data in order to generate a national-scale map of wetland extent at a 60 m spatial *** resulting wetland map covers 21.0%(39.6 Mha)of Indonesia’s land,including 25.2% of Sumatra(11.9 Mha),22.9% of Kalimantan(12.2 Mha),and 28.9% of Papua(11.8 Mha).Results agree with existing image-interpreted products from Indonesia’s Ministries of Forestry and Agriculture and Wetlands International(89% overall agreement),and with the Ministry of Forestry forest inventory data for Sumatra and Kalimantan(91% overall agreement).An internally consistent algorithm-derived national wetland extent map can be used to quantify changing rates of land conversion inside and outside of ***,wetlands extent can be used to efficiently allocate field resources in national assessments of wetland sub-types such as peatlands,which are a current focus of policies aiming to reduce carbon emissions from land use change.

Background:Tuberculosis(TB)remains a global health challenge and depression is a significant contributor to the global burden of *** evidence suggests that there is an association between depressive symptoms and TB,lower adherence to treatment,and increased morbidity and ***,there is paucity of data regarding these associations in *** study aimed to determine the prevalence and correlates of depression in adult patients with pulmonary TB(PTB)in the Southwest Region of ***:A hospital-based cross-sectional study involving 265 patients with PTB was conducted from 2nd January to 31st March 2015 in the Limbe Regional Hospital and the Kumba District *** was diagnosed using the standard nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire,and classified as none,mild or *** regressions were used to investigate correlates of depression in these ***:Of the 265 patients(mean age 36.9±10 years)studied,136(51.3%)were *** prevalence of depression was 61.1%(95%CI:55.1–66.8),with a significant proportion(36.6%)having mild *** logistic regression analysis showed that being female(aOR=3.0,95%CI(1.7–5.5),P0.05),being on retreatment for TB(aOR=11.2,95%CI:5.2–31.1,P<0.001),having discontinued treatment(aOR=8.2,95%CI:1.1–23.3,P<0.05)and having a HIV/TB co-infection(aOR=2.5,95%CI:1.2–6.5,P<0.001)were factors associated with having a higher chance of being ***:Our study suggests that there is a high prevalence of depression among PTB patients,with more than one in two patients *** care for TB patients involving mental health practitioners is highly encouraged,especially for high-risk groups.

RNA-mediated silencing in plants can spread from cell to cell and over a long distance,and such mobile silencing has been extensively studied in the past ***,major questions remain as to what is the exact nature of the mobile silencing signals,how the components of the RNA-directed DNA methylation pathway are involved,and why systemic spread of silencing has only been observed for transgenes but not endogenous *** this review,we provide an overview of the current knowledge on mobile gene silencing in plants and present a model where systemic silencing involves long nuclear RNA transcripts that serve as a template to amplify primary siRNA signals.

Background:Ovarian follicular fluid influences follicle and oocyte growth,but the fluctuation of its protein content during folliculogenesis has not been comprehensively *** we used a shotgun approach and bioinformatics analyses to investigate and compare the proteomes of porcine follicular fluid(pFF)obtained from small(6–12 mm)***:Follicular fluid samples containing highest estrogen levels were selected as non-atretic from small(SNA:26.1±15 ng/mL),medium(MNA:162±54 ng/mL),and large(LNA:290±37 ng/mL)follicles for proteomic *** detected 1627,1699,and 1756 proteins in SNA,MNA,and LNA samples,*** 60–63%of total proteins were specific to each sample,11–13%were shared in pairwise comparisons,and 247 proteins were shared among all *** categorization indicated comparable gene ontology(GO)terms distribution per cellular component,molecular function,and biological process categories across samples;however,the ranking of highly significantly enriched GO terms per category revealed differences between *** patterns of proteinto-protein interactions varied throughout follicle development,and proteins such as serine protease inhibitor,clade E(SERPINE);plasminogen activator,urokinase(PLAU);and plasminogen activator,urokinase receptor(PLAUR)appeared stage-specific to SNA,MNA,and LNA,***“complement and coagulation cascades”was the common major ***,properdin and fibulin-1 were abundant proteins that appeared absent in LNA ***:This study provides extensive and functional analyses of the pFF proteome changes during folliculogenesis and offers the potential for novel biomarker discovery in pFF for oocyte quality assessment.

Feed ingredients can change physically or chemically when exposed to moisture,heat or *** changes impact how well they flow through a bin and disperse throughout the *** is a relatively new technique used to reduce reactivity and improve storage and handling characteristics(HC)of *** authors hypothesize that lipid matrix microencapsulation of free vitamin and mineral(VM)premixes significantly improve their HC making them more desirable products for feed *** samples of free,standard and lipid microencapsulated VM premixes were evaluated for the following HC:particle size(dgw),particle size variability(Sgw),flowability(measured by angle of repose(AOR)and minimum orifice diameter(MOD)),lumping,compressibility,bulk and tapped density,solubility and hygroscopic percent change in weight(day 0-1,0-3,0-5,5-9,0-9).Results were analyzed in a 3×2 factorial(JMP Pro 14)of form(free,standard,microencapsulated)by type(vitamin,mineral).Microencapsulated VM had the highest dgw(611.0mm and 722.7mm,respectively,p=0.002);free and microencapsulated vitamins had the smallest Sgw(1.67 and 1.49,respectively,p<0.001).Microencapsulated premixes had significantly lower AOR(p<0.001)and MOD values(p<0.001)than other premixes,indicating improved *** days 0-3 and 0-5,microencapsulated premixes absorbed approximately half as much moisture(1.62%and 2.24%,respectively)than the free(3.48%and 5.04%,respectively)or standard(3.74%and 5.26%,respectively)premixes(p=0.001).The benefits gained from lipid matrix microencapsulation technology not only improve the HC of animal feed additives,but also improve the stability of VM premixes.
