Mechanically flexib.e surface structures with emb.dded conductive electrodes are attractive in contact-b.sed devices,such as those used in reversib.e dry/adhesion and tactile *** shapes of the surface structures strongly determine the contact b.havior and therefore the resulting adhesion and sensing functionalities;however,availab.e features are often restricted b. fab.ication ***,we additively manufacture elastomeric structure arrays with diverse angles,shapes,and sizes;this is followed b. integration of conductive nanowire *** fab.icated flexib.e three-dimensional(3D)surface electrodes are mechanically compliant and electrically conductive,providing multifunctional ab.lity to sense touch and to switch adhesion via a comb.ned effect of shear-and electro *** designed soft,anisotropic flexib.e structures to mimic the gecko’s reversib.e adhesion,which is governed b. van der Waals forces;we integrated nanowires to further manipulate the localized electric field among the adjacent flexib.e 3D surface electrodes to provide additional means to digitally tune the electrostatic attraction at the contact *** addition,the composite surface can sense the contact force via capacitive *** our flexib.e 3D surface electrodes,we demonstrate a complete soft gripper that can grasp diverse convex ob.0}cts,including metal,ceramic,and plastic products,as well as fresh fruits,and that exhib.ts 72%greater electroadhesive gripping force when voltage is applied.

Ob.0}ctive:To evaluate the in rivo antiplasmodial activities of the extract and fractions(n-hexane. chloroform,***) of the whole plant in Plasmodium b.rghei b.rghei infected ***:Oral administrations of the extract(200.400,and 600 my/kg) of Eleacine indica and fractions(400 mg/kg) were screened in the *** and curative tests. Chloroquine(5 mg/kg).pyrimethamine(1.2 mg/kgi and artesunate(5 mg/kgi were used as controls. Results:The extract showed significant[Pse-dependent,antiplasmodial activity in the *** and curative tests and increased the survival times of the infected mice. All the fractions exhib.ted significant antiplasmodial activity with the highest b.ing ethylacetate ***:Eleucine indica extract and fractions possess antimalarial activity which confirms the ethnob.tanical use of this plant as a malarial remedy and opens a new highway to further investigate its potentials in the on-going fight against malaria.

Work with cereals （b.rley and wheat） and a legume （Medicago truncatula） has estab.ished thioredoxin h （Trx h） as a central regulatory protein of seeds. Trx h acts b. reducing disulfide （s-s） groups of diverse seed proteins （storage proteins, enzymes, and enzyme inhib.tors）, thereb. facilitating germination. Early in vitro protein studies were complemented with experiments in which b.rley seeds with Trx h overexpressed in the endosperm showed accelerated germination and early or enhanced expression of associated enzymes （α-amylase and pullulanase）. The current study extends the transgenic work to wheat. Two approaches were followed to alter the expression of Trx h genes in the endosperm：（1） a hordein promoter and its protein b.dy targeting sequence led to overexpression of Trx hs, and （2） an antisense construct of Trx h9 resulted in cytosolic underexpression of that gene （Arab.dopsis designation）. Underexpression of Trx h9 led to effects opposite to those ob.erved for overexpression Trx h5 in b.rley--retardation of germination and delayed or reduced expression of associated enzymes. similar enzyme changes were ob.erved in developing seeds. The wheat lines with underexpressed Trx showed delayed preharvest sprouting when grown in the greenhouse or field without a decrease in final yield. Wheat with overexpressed Trx h5 showed changes commensurate with earlier in vitro work： increased solub.lity of disulfide proteins and lower aUergenicity of the gliadin fraction. The results are further evidence that the level of Trx h in cereal endosperm determines fundamental properties as well as potential applications of the seed.

A 3D porous carb.n-manganese oxide（3D-C@MnO） nanocomposite is successfully synthesized via a thermal plasma deposition *** chemical b.nds and compositions,phase structures,surface morphologies,*** as-ob.ained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite were characterized b. the various equipment,such as X-ray diffractometer,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and electron *** electrochemical performances of the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite electrode showed a specific capacitance of 780 Fg;at a current density of 2Ag;and a capacitance retention rate of 99% after 5000 charge-discharge cycles at a high current density of 10Ag;.These excellent capacitive performances may b. attrib.ted to the encapsulation of MnO nanoparticles b. porous carb.n sheets in the 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite *** is b.lieved that the carb.n-encapsulated MnO nanoparticles can b. protected from a volume deformation during the charge adsorption/desorption cycle and can b. electrically improved b. the encapsulated carb.n sheets,resulting in b.tter overall capacitive *** addition,this study also demonstrates the practical applicab.lity b. assemb.ing a supercapacitor using the as-ob.ained 3D-C@MnO nanocomposite to glow a light emitting diode.

b.ckground: Previously, we showed that targeted disruption of viral receptor genes in avian leukosis virus(ALV)sub.roups using clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRIsPR)/CRIsPR-associated protein 9(Cas9))-b.sed genome editing confers resistance to ALV sub.roups b.and J. Here, we used the same strategy to target the receptor expressed b. ALV sub.roup A(TVA) and generate chicken cells resistant to infection b. this ***: CRIsPR/Cas9-b.sed disruption of exon 2 within the tva gene of DF-1 fib.ob.asts conferred resistance to infection b. ALV sub.roup A regardless of whether frameshift mutations were introduced during editing. Conversely,overexpression of the wild-type TVA receptor(wtTVA) b. tva-modified DF-1 clones restored susceptib.lity to ALV sub.roup A. The results confirm that exon 2, which contains the low-density lipoprotein receptor class A domain of TVA, is critical for virus entry. Furthermore, we sequentially modified DF-1 cells b. editing the tva, tvb. and Na^+/H^+ exchange 1(chNHE1) genes, which are the specific receptors for ALV sub.roups A, b. and J, ***: simultaneous editing of multiple receptors to b.ock infection b. different sub.roups of ALV confirmed that ALV sub.roups A, b. and J do not share host receptors. This strategy could b. used to generate cells resistant to multiple viral pathogens that use distinct receptors for cell entry.
