The Paleocene mudrocks in Ghana’s Tano Basin have received limited attention despite ongoing efforts to explore hydrocarbon resources.A thorough geochemical analysis is imperative to assess these mudrocks’petroleum generation potential and formulate effective exploration *** this study,a comprehensive geochemical analysis was carried out on ten Paleocene rock cuttings extracted from TP-1,a discovery well within the Tano *** analytical techniques,including total organic carbon(TOC)analysis,Rock–Eval pyrolysis,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,and isotope ratio-mass spectrometry,were employed to elucidate their hydrocar-bon potential and organic ***ﬁndings in this study were subsequently compared to existing geochemical data on Paleocene source rocks in the South Atlantic marginal *** results indicated that the Paleocene samples have TOC content ranging from 0.68 to 2.93 wt%.The prevalent kerogen types identiﬁed in these samples were Type Ⅱ and Type Ⅲ.Molecular and isotope data suggest that the organic matter found in the Paleocene mudrocks can be traced back to land plants and lower aquatic *** mudrocks were deposited in a transi-tional environment withﬂuctuating water salinity,charac-terized by sub-oxic redox *** indices,both bulk and molecular,indicated a spectrum of maturity levels within the Paleocene mudrocks,spanning from immature to marginally mature,with increasing maturity observed with greater *** comparison,the organic composition and depositional environments of Paleocene source rocks in the Tano Basin closely resemble those found in the niger Delta Basin,Douala,and Kribi-Campo Basins,the Kwanza Formation in Angola,and certain Brazilian marginal ***,it is worth noting that Paleocene source rocks in some of the basins,such as the niger Delta and Brazilian marginal basins,exhibit rela-tively higher thermal maturity levels compared to those observed in the current Paleocene samp

From Control Theory to Gravitational Waves

When D:ξ→η is a linear ordinary differential (OD) or partial differential (PD) operator, a “direct problem” is to find the generating compatibility conditions (CC) in the form of an operator D1:η→ξ such that Dξ = η implies D1η = 0. When D is involutive, the procedure provides successive first-order involutive operators D1,...,Dn when the ground manifold has dimension n. Conversely, when D1 is given, a much more difficult “inverse problem” is to look for an operator D:ξ→η having the generating CC D1η = 0. If this is possible, that is when the differential module defined by D1 is “torsion-free”, that is when there does not exist any observable quantity which is a sum of derivatives of η that could be a solution of an autonomous OD or PD equation for itself, one shall say that the operator D1 is parametrized by D. The parametrization is said to be “minimum” if the differential module defined by D does not contain a free differential submodule. The systematic use of the adjoint of a differential operator provides a constructive test with five steps using double differential duality. We prove and illustrate through many explicit examples the fact that a control system is controllable if and only if it can be parametrized. Accordingly, the controllability of any OD or PD control system is a “built in” property not depending on the choice of the input and output variables among the system variables. In the OD case and when D1 is formally surjective, controllability just amounts to the formal injectivity of ad(D1), even in the variable coefficients case, a result still not acknowledged by the control community. Among other applications, the parametrization of the Cauchy stress operator in arbitrary dimension n has attracted many famous scientists (G. B. Airy in 1863 for n = 2, J. C. Maxwell in 1870, E. Beltrami in 1892 for n = 3, and A. Einstein in 1915 for n = 4).

Calculating the crystallite Size of Microsorum scolopendria AgCl nanoparticles and Their Biological Activities

In this work, AgCl nanoparticles were synthesized from Microsorum scolopendria (MS) aqueous extract and AgnO3 solution. Preliminary confirmation was a color change from a light brown to a dark-colored solution and a UV-Vis spectra surface plasmon resonance peak at 427 nm. Measured vibrational frequencies at 1713 cm1 and 1030 cm1 for C-O stretching of carboxylic acid or aliphatic ketone, and 1547 cm1 for possibly n-O stretching of nitro compounds by Infrared (FTIR) analysis explain the possible biomaterial electronegative species or functional groups responsible for the reduction of Ag ( 1) to Ag (0) for the formation of MS-AgCl nanoparticles. XRD analysis studies revealed that these particles contained face-centered cubic crystallites of metallic AgCl of 100 % with an average calculated crystallite size range of 30.34 nm (SD = 5.10 nm) by Scherrers equation and a calculated crystallite size of 66.04 nm with a lattice strain of 0.00175 nm by Williamson Hall equation. The measured albumin denaturing activity of MS-AgCl nanoparticles gave an IC50 value of 26.70 g/mL and 1.35 g/mL for the positive control diclofenac. Additionally, the measured ability of phosphomolybdate complex formation, the antioxidant IC value of MS-AgCl nanoparticles was 35.29 g/mL, and positive control ascorbic acid was 13.91 g/mL. In all, using MS fern frond aqueous extracts, this preliminary work confirms MS-AgCl nanoparticles as potential therapeutic agents for oxidative stress, inflammatory problems, and related diseases.

The ex-situ incorporation of the secondary SiC reinforcement,along with the in-situ incorporation of the tertiary and quaternary Mg_(3)n_(2) and Si_(3)n_(4) phases,in the primary matrix of Mg_(2)Si is employed in order to provide ultimate wear resistance based on the laser-irradiation-induced inclusion of n_(2) gas during laser powder bed *** is substantialized based on both the thermal diffusion-and chemical reactionbased metallurgy of the Mg_(2)Si–SiC/nitride hybrid *** study also proposes a functional platform for systematically modulating a functionally graded structure and modeling build-direction-dependent architectonics during additive *** strategy enables the development of a compositional gradient from the center to the edge of each melt pool of the Mg_(2)Si–SiC/nitride hybrid ***,the coefficient of friction of the hybrid composite exhibits a 309.3%decrease to–1.67 compared to–0.54 for the conventional nonreinforced Mg_(2)Si structure,while the tensile strength exhibits a 171.3%increase to 831.5 MPa compared to 485.3 MPa for the conventional *** outstanding mechanical behavior is due to the(1)the complementary and synergistic reinforcement effects of the SiC and nitride compounds,each of which possesses an intrinsically high hardness,and(2)the strong adhesion of these compounds to the Mg_(2)Si matrix despite their small sizes and low concentrations.

Predictors of Fatal Outcome in Hospitalised Adult Patients with Acute Kidney Injury at Two Tertiary Hospitals in Sub-Saharan Africa

Introduction: Data on mortality in acute kidney injury (AKI) derives from high-income countries where AKI is hospital-acquired and occurs in elderly patients with a high burden of cardiovascular disease. In sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), AKI is community-acquired occurring in healthy young adults. We aimed to identify predictors of fatal outcomes in patients with AKI in two tertiary hospitals in Cameroon. Methods: Medical records of adults with confirmed AKI, from January 2018 to March 2020 were retrieved. The outcomes of interest were in-hospital deaths and presumed causes of death. We used multiple logistic regressions modeling to identify predictors of death. The study was approved by the ethics boards of both hospitals. Values were considered significant for a p-value of 0.05. Results: We included 285 patient records (37.2% females). The mean (SD) age was 50.1 (19.0) years. Hypertension (n = 97, 34.0%), organ failure (n = 88, 30.9%), and diabetes (n = 60, 21.1%) were the main comorbidities. The majority of patients had community-acquired AKI (78.6%, n = 224), were KDIGO stage 3 (88.8%, n = 253), and needed dialysis (52.6%, n = 150). Up to 16.7% (n = 25) did not receive what was needed. The in-hospital mortality rate was 29.1% (n = 83). Lack of access to dialysis (OR = 27.8;CI: 5.2 - 149.3, p = 0.001), hypotension (OR = 11.8;CI: 1.3 - 24.8;p = 0.001) and ICU admission (OR = 5.7;CI: 1.3 - 24.8, p = 0.001) were predictors of mortality. The presence of co-morbidities or underlying diseases (n = 46, 55%) were the main causes of death. Conclusions: In-hospital AKI mortality is high, as in other low- and middle-income economies. Lack of access to dialysis and the severity of the underlying illness are major predictors of death.

Carbon nitride thin films deposited using dc unbalanced magnetron sputtering system have been analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy. The XPS data show that n1s binding states depend on substrate temperature T-s, in which the peak at 400.0 eV increases with T-s, whereas the peak at 398.3 eV decreases with T-s slightly. On the basis of XPS, FTIR and Raman spectra, the assignment of n1s electron binding energies was made. The peak at 400.0 eV is attributed to n atoms bonded to sp(2) coordinated C atoms. The peak at 398.3 eV is attributed to n atoms bonded to sp(3) coordinated C atoms as well as n-C bonds.

Conditions for Set Agreement with an Application to Synchronous Systems

The k-set agreement problem is a generalization of the consensus problem： considering a system made up of n processes where each process proposes a value, each non-faulty process has to decide a value such that a decided value is a proposed value, and no more than k different values are decided. While this problem cannot be solved in an asynchronous system prone to t process crashes when t≥ k, it can always be solved in a synchronous system; [t/k]＋1 is then a lower bound on the number of rounds （consecutive communication steps） for the non-faulty processes to decide. The condition-based approach has been introduced in the consensus context. Its aim was to both circumvent the consensus impossibility in asynchronous systems, and allow for more efficient consensus algorithms in synchronous systems. This paper addresses the condition-based approach in the context of the k-set agreement problem. It has two main contributions. The first is the definition of a framework that allows defining conditions suited to the l-set agreement problem and the second is a generic synchronous k-set agreement algorithm based on conditions.

The discrete duality finite volume method has proven to be a practical tool for discretizing partial differential equations coming from a wide variety of areas of physics on nearly arbitrary *** main ingredients of the method are:(1)use of three meshes,(2)use of the Gauss-Green theorem for the approximation of derivatives,(3)discrete integration by *** this article we propose to extend this method to the coupled grey thermal-P_(n) radiative transfer equations in Cartesian and cylindrical coordinates in order to be able to deal with two-dimensional Lagrangian approximations of the interaction of matter with *** stability under a Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition and the preservation of the diffusion asymptotic limit are proved while the experimental second-order accuracy is observed with manufactured *** numerical experiments are reported which show the good behavior of the method.
