This study represents a continuation of the Florida hotspot of tadpole abnormality found in the Southwest Florida suburban roadside drainage ditches in 2012 to determine if the adult frogs and toads frequenting the study sites were anatomically *** gross examination of all organs included 397 adult anurans and 40 metamorphs representing five anuran species:Osteopilus septentrionalis(N=364),Rhinella marina(N=60),Lithobates sphenocephala(N=7),Anaxyrus terrestris(N=5)and Anaxyrus americanus(N=1).The gonads,liver,kidney and intestines were abnormal at a frequency of 87.4%.The few normal anurans(12.6%)were females and young male *** found a significant difference in organ abnormality type and f requency between *** all f rog and toad males had testicular abnormality(92%)with only 6%with normal testes,whereas the female gonad abnormality was lower,at 41.6%.Hermaphroditism was found in both sexes at a frequency of 26.2%.The toads had a significantly higher frequency of hermaphroditism than the *** toad hermaphroditism frequency was found to be 40%,whereas the frog hermaphroditism 23.3%.A hermaphrodite Cane toad male with a female phenotype coexisted with the normal male phenotype *** fertility of 27 in situ pairs was *** fertile testicular abnormal male and hermaphrodite pairs produced offspring with abnormal larval *** information adds new evidence of the effect of chemicals on wild populations and the effect on non-target species which has always been underestimated.

In this work,we report for the first time the in-situ catalytic pyrolysis of Pavlova ***,which has been performed in a fixed-bed reactor in presence of Ce/Al2O3-based *** effects of pyrolysis parameters,such as temperature and catalyst were studied on the products yield distribution and biooil composition,among *** showed that all catalysts increased the bio-oil yield with respect to the non-catalytic runs and reduced the O/C ratio from 0.69（Pavlova sp.）to 0.1–0.15,which is close to that of crude *** terms of bio-oil oxygen content,Mg Ce/Al2O3presented the best performance with a reduction of more than 30%,from 14.1 to 9.8 wt%,of the oxygen concentration in comparison with thermal ***,Ni Ce/Al2O3gave rise to the highest aliphatics/aromatics *** elemental and gas analysis indicates that N was partially removed from the catalytic bio-oils in the gas phase in forms of NH3and HCN.

AIM： To evaluate the effects of indomethacin [dual cyclooxygenase （COX）-I/COX-2 inhibitor] and 3-（3,4-difluorophenyl）-4-（4-（methylsulfonyl） phenyl）- 2-（5H）-furanone （MF-tricyclic）（COX-2 selective inhibi- tor） in a rat experimental model of Barrett＇s esophagus and esophageal ***： A total of 112 surviving post-surgery rats were randomly divided into three groups： the control group （n = 48）, which did not receive any treatment; the indomethacin group （n = 32）, which were given 2 mg/kg per day of the COX-I/COX-2 inhibitor; and the MF-tricyclic group （n = 32）, which received 10 mg/kg per day of the selective COX-2 inhibitor. Randomly se- lected rats were killed either 8 wk or 16 wk after sur- gery. The timing of the deaths was in accordance with a previous study performed in our group. Only rats that were killed at the times designated by the protocol were included in the study. We then assessed the histology and prostaglandin E2 （PGE2） expression levels in the rat esophagi. An additional group of eight animals that did not undergo esophagojejunostomy were included in order to obtain normal esophageal tissue as a control. RESULTS： Compared to a control group with no treat- ment （vehicle-treated rats）, indomethacin treatment was associated with decreases in ulcerated esophageal mucosa （16% vs 35% and 14% vs 17%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.021）, length of intestinal metaplasia in continuity with anastomosis （2 4- 1.17 mm vs 2.29 ＋ 0.75 mm and 1.25 4- 0.42 mm vs 3.5 4- 1.54 mm, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respec- tively; P = 0.007）, presence of intestinal metaplasia beyond anastomosis （20% vs 71.4% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.009）, severity of dysplasia （0% vs 71.4% and 20% vs 85.7% high-grade dysplasia, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, re- spectively; P = 0.002）, and adenocarcinoma incidence （0% vs 57.1% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P 〈 0.0001）. The starting point of this research is the urban model promoted by the United Nations through the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).The importance of public spaces is especially highlighted in Goal 11.7:“provide universal access to safe,inclusive,and accessible,green,and public spaces.”The quality of public spaces can be properly assessed by reconsidering the quality indicators and investigating their development potential,which is the main focus of our *** study is based on a theoretical and methodological reflection on the quality of public space,considering the contributions of some contemporary urban traditions and a few recent *** this perspective,a variety of public space projects developed in the European sphere have been selected and *** quality parameters identified in this initial analysis were then applied to the analysis of nine representative case studies in three Spanish cities(Madrid,Barcelona,and Zaragoza).The main goal is to propose a methodology that helps to evaluate the quality of those public spaces and determine its relationship with the safety,accessibility,and inclusiveness conditions they offer.

AIM: To assess and compare the impact of a daily disposable contact lens(CL) with high water content on the ocular surface and comfort of the presbyopic and nonpresbyopic population after one day of use. METHODS: Totally 20 presbyopes and 30 non-presbyopes non-contact wearers were fitted with nesofilcon A CLs. CL thickness was measured to assess material stability during daily wear, and ocular surface parameters were also assessed. Optical quality was analyzed for all cases. In addition, CL comfort was ***: No significant differences were found in CL thickness, tear film osmolarity, average tear break-up time, bulbar redness, central corneal thickness, corneal volume, root-mean-square of higher-order aberrations(RMS of HOAs) and vertical and horizontal coma, either as a function of the group or time of use. A significant decrease in tear meniscus height and first break-up of the tear film was found in the presbyopic group(P=0.038; P=0.007 respectively). A decrease in spherical aberration coefficient was found after CL insertion(P=0.031 monofocal CL; P=0.023 low addition multifocal CL; P=0.016 high addition multifocal CL). Multifocal CL were thicker than monofocal CL(P=0.045). Comparison between groups showed more discomfort in presbyopes than non-presbyopes(P=0.003).CONCLUSION: This study evidence that the behavior of the daily disposable CL with high water content seems to be stable during the day of use. Ocular parameters measured during wear show that CL behavior is the same for presbyopes and non-presbyopes, being more uncomfortable for presbyopes.

Quantification of corneal neovascularization after ex vivo limbal epithelial stem cell therapy

AIM: To assess cultured limbal epithelial stem cell transplantation in patients with limbal stem cell deficiency by analyzing and quantifying corneal ***: This retrospective, interventional case series included eight eyes with total limbal stem cell deficiency. Ex vivo limbal epithelial stem cells were cultured on human amniotic membrane using an animalfree culture method. The clinical parameters of limbal stem cell deficiency, impression cytology, and quantification of corneal neovascularization were evaluated before and after cultured limbal stem cell transplantation. The area of corneal neovascularization,vessel caliber(VC), and invasive area(IA) were analyzed before and after stem cell transplantation by image analysis software. Best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),epithelial transparency, and impression cytology were also ***: One year after surgery, successful cases showed a reduction(improvement) of all three parameters of corneal neovascularization [neovascular area(NA), VC, IA], while failed cases did not. NA decreased a mean of 32.31%(P =0.035), invasion area29.37%(P =0.018) and VC 14.29%(P =0.072). BCVA improved in all eyes(mean follow-up, 76 ±21mo).Epithelial transparency improved significantly from 2.00 ±0.93 to 0.88±1.25(P =0.014). Impression cytology showed that three cases failed after limbal epithelial stem cell therapy before 1y of ***: This method of analyzing andmonitoring surface vessels is useful for evaluating the epithelial status during follow-up, as successful cases showed a bigger reduction in corneal neovascularization parameters than failed cases. Using this method,successful cases could be differentiated from failed cases.

Some effects of climate change on the composition and competitive capacity of southern European Pinus sylvestris L. forests in the Mediterranean basin were evaluated. The variation over the period 1910-2008 through 30-year mobile averages of a Phytoclimatic Suitability Index (PSI) of the main tree species of the forest cover are used to indicate the competitive hierarchy of Pinus sylvestris and Fagus sylvatica L. The methodology was applied at a specific location on the Spanish south-facing slopes of the Pyrenees mountain range in the Iberian Peninsula, where the increase in the average temperature was 1.4?C in the period of observation. The results indicated that the apparent equilibrium between the two species studied changed from the 1934-1963 average. Due to the loss of competitive capacity of Scots pine with respect to European beech, particularly from the years 1970-1999, the model predicted an inversion of the situation as it was up until now, so that beech had a higher PSI than pine. The phytoclimatic approach proposed here offers new methodological horizons for the study of the effects of climate change on the future of the forests.
